  1. Thanks for all the nice comments. Really had fun building this. BIL helped a bunch, a few minor issues in the finish but I am really picky about my work. Overall I am happy at this point, learned some more tips from the BIL. Can't wait to start mine but will be a few weeks, starting to get real busy with work. Won't do a build thread but will post some pics when I get it done. Bill has a great design for us DIY guys, my hat goes off to him.
  2. Forgot this one, can see top in this pic, have not put any gloss on top yet. After finishing front will get top looking nice and shiny.
  3. Last pic all drawer fronts and cloth grill for mouth
  4. More pics, rock hound do you still want the drawer fronts on. This is one pretty piece of wood.
  5. Some progress pics, this will be the front as you look at it
  6. Titebond is what I use, but I caulk all seams when done. I am sure there are better things out there, but BIL showed me 2 plywood pieces he glued, and when he beat them apart the wood broke not the joint. BIL been wood working for a long time and that is what he uses.
  7. Still got to get it nice and shiny, then going to bring it to its foster home. Will hopefully have it for a few day's to play with it, before it gets adopted out to its new home. If I have time today to work on it, will try and get some 98% finished pics posted. Rockhound remember you said " I could have the first one you were in no hurry" LOL. You will have to help me move this beast out of the den when you come to get it.
  8. Rockhound you may have to pry this first one away from me. Lol
  9. Listening first impressions " holy cow" this thing rocks. I hooked up a 20yr old crappy receiver 20 watts max maybe. No sub out so turned bass to max gain, then turned treble all the way down. Not the correct way to test it, but was all I have in the shop. Just couldn't wait to hear it. Was shaking everything in a 2 car size shop, it was crazy. Can't wait to finish it and get it home to put a little EQ on it and power it with my xpa-2.
  10. The boom boom end! Have grill frame built for this, going to cover it with black speaker cloth.
  11. First pic is the legs. Still need to put some clear on them to give a little shine.
  12. Not much of an update , but a few rough finished pic's. The pic with the blocks on top are going to be the legs. they are about 4" high. They are solid western cedar, thanks to the BIL for those he did a great job. Stay tuned me and BIL have come up with some good ideas on the trim using this wood. It is a great looking wood with a little cherry stain. I am very happy so far how this has turned out. Can't get pic's to load, will go by with Ipad tmr and get them posted.
  13. Go grandma!!! Shoot him in the toodles
  14. WOW a super deal. Why must you live so far away?? The Jamboree alone would be worth the asking price. Good luck!!
  15. I am only changing how butt joints come together, every dimension on this box is to plan. I am doing this due to how the sub will be laid when it is placed in room. This way I will not have a end cut ( ply) showing on the side facing out. Following plans is very important, but so is knowing how to build a fine piece of furniture.
  16. Post a link will help your sell, good luck!!
  17. Please elaborate a little. The thin veneer will separate from the thicker ply underneath after a while. It may last a little while. If you do need to use the hardwood plywood you will need to remove the thin outer ply and glue to the thicker ply underneath. Have never seen this happen, have several pairs that are over 5yrs old, and have been played hard and never had a problem. Maybe I am just lucky but will look closer at the plywood when I pick it up from now on. Thanks
  18. I have built all of my speakers ( all 30 or so) from veneered plywood and have never had a problem as long as it has the correct number of ply's. I forgot to add these are being built out of 3/4 ply, the only thing I build my speakers with. Your reason for not liking veneer plywood? Always up for learning something new.
  19. Welcome to the Klipsch family. Nice set up!!
  20. Only use them for price checking stuff, knowing the price will be high but at least get a idea of worth.
  21. A little progress, hope to get some time tmr to work on them
