Someone did actually build new tops for them, or did that in the beginning, as they never came as a "collared" top nor did the plans show that.  That's what I'm doing with my SK's that I got from Gil's brother Joe...making collared tops, all new grills and using black cloth similar to Klipsch.

I would love to see pics when you are done... if you aren't comfortable posting them you can message me with the pix.

How far are you from LR? I would make a trip to see them, but I'm at the other end of TN, next to Chattanooga.

I've heard that about the second shingles vax.

My wife warned me and suggested I get it another day, a Friday so I would have the weekend to get over it. The first one was easy. I've had five covid shots with no problem (other than the extra toe on each foot. 🤣 ).

I also have the previously mentioned Crown XLS 1002 and it sounds nice with my KP-250s.

  4. So, Tuesday evening the wife and I stopped by the pharmacy to pick up her prescriptions. The pharmacist asked if I was ready for my second shingles vaccine shot. Plus I asked about the new covid shot. He said I could have both at the same time. Kicked my butt! Only a little bit of a sore arm from the shingles shot, same as the first, but I stayed in bed and slept ALL day and all night. I still feel like I could sleep some more, but I'm back to work.

You are being made fun of on the Klipsch Community website. FYI. Be well, Jim

I think the only part of "making fun" would be the price. They made different versions of the SK, and certain ones wee very close to Klipsch, and sounded very good. The new lower price on the listing might sell. Considering what Khorns are selling for, they could be a good deal. IIRC, @DizRotus had four that he hauled around for dances.

Get the ekg for the procedure? Tried Saturday, a guy there at the small rural hospital got mad and wanted to know who sent me to get it done on a weekend.

    Ay yai yai!

After our trip to the Philippines last summer, we were in communication with one of my wife's brothers, who we had spent a bunch of time with while there. He started having a medical issue and went to one of the hospitals. At first they thought it was a stroke, but then decided he was having breathing/oxygen issues. Finally got him on some medicine and let him go home.

Started having huge breathing problems so they called another ambulance. They stopped at two hospitals, but they didn't have an emergency room, and they wouldn't admit him.  Finally got him into one, but he passed away while there. It was a sad time for us, as we had become pretty close. My wife had 12 siblings, now three of them have passed.

There are lot's of smaller hospitals there, but some don't have full time doctors or have limited facilities.

  7. I'm with @tragusa3 on his concerns about volume. Is this a bar you want people to be able to converse easily or have to raise their voices to be heard?

The main reason klipsch will work so well for a bar is the intelligibility.

If all drivers work (woofer, and two compression drivers for the midrange and tweeter) the crossovers can be fixex/updated/retored to original specs.

If the Belle Klipsch cabinets are in nice shape, they have probably not been abused. Lascalas often have been as a lot of bands hauled them around or used them for P.A. A lot will depend on the price.

Nice seeing the speakers were the first thing in the house.

My first wife and I moved quite a number of times, both before and after having kids. The audio gear was always the first thing set up in the new apartment or house. That way we could always have music as we unpacked in the new digs.

She was also at the new place directing movers ( be they friends or paid) where to place all the heavy stuff. Usually, most everything was set up at the end of the day. That did get more difficult by the time we had three kids in tow.

  9. While I drink more coffee than hot tea these days, my late wife would make a teapot full pretty often. This popped up in a FB post...

“In Ireland, you go to someone's house, and she asks you if you want a cup of tea. You say no, thank you, you're really just fine. She asks if you're sure. You say of course you're sure, really, you don't need a thing. Except they pronounce it ting. You don't need a ting. Well, she says then, I was going to get myself some anyway, so it would be no trouble. Ah, you say, well, if you were going to get yourself some, I wouldn't mind a spot of tea, at that, so long as it's no trouble and I can give you a hand in the kitchen. Then you go through the whole thing all over again until you both end up in the kitchen drinking tea and chatting.

In America, someone asks you if you want a cup of tea, you say no, and then you don't get any damned tea.

I liked the Irish way better.”
