  1. +1 These are really solid! I used them also with larger bookshelf speakers and was very happy with them!
  2. This site is hilarious! A little effort to set that up! The question I have youth is are those poppy seeds or chocolate sprinkles on the ends of your new cables? I'm excited for your full review on how those clean and enhance performance! Nice price too! I've never saved $1M on any of my gear! ;-)
  3. Great review Youth! That's great! I'm intrigued about this screen process now. I'll have to dig deeper when the time comes!
  4. I used them and was very happy with them. High marks for build quality and I never worried that my speakers might fall off the wall.
  5. Wow Hammer! Great work! Congrats and thanks for sharing! I'm glad you got that loop ironed out, it's always the littlest things after all that work that generate the greatest frustration! Enjoy!
  6. What a shame it's the worlds only! I would love to hear the 15D! :-)
  7. Wake, thank you for the updates as you go! The finished product is going to be just epic! I am excited to see how it turns out! Very nice work!
  8. This this thing is going to be so awesome! Thanks for the pics of your hard work!
  9. The price IS steep, it's also the first gen of a new tech so who knows what new bells and whistles will develop. The dealer where I saw the display had a newer (Non Kuro) Elite right behind the 4k and I told him, that's where the deals are now. The blacks, IMHO blew the doors off of the Elite, BUT I believe it's still LED so plasma fans may still object to the soap opera effect of motion, but I didn't think it was too bad. Of course the pixar/dreamworks preview - Despicable Me and UP (still just blu ray - not native 4k) were striking. It's remarkable how, just when you think they've hit the pinnacle, something better comes along and one day we'll all wonder why we spent so much on "that" technology! I will be back the second I hear they have the player set up with true 4k content. It did give me comfort that I saved about $2k by purchasing a 65" VT Panasonic when the order I had on a 70" Elite fell through. I personally think 4K will be a worthwhile upgrade, in time, especially with the new push toward huge screen tv's and of course projectors! Anyway, I look forward to others reactions to the technology. It's nice to have a forum where I can share these thoughts with others who have my home electronics "condition." []
  10. I saw an "unofficial" demo today of Sony's new 4K TV. The dealer was running blu ray through it. Apparently Sony is going to be providing a player to run native 4k content through it for their "official" release on the 19th. The picture is amazing! I commented to the dealer how hard it will be to sell the rest of the tv's in the place after these begin to stock the shelves. Blacks, contrast, colors - wow. wow. wow. I know what kind of projector I will be holding out for now!
  11. I was going to use plates, but ran into the flush mount issue and abandoned the plates and pulled the wires through the wall. That way they are flush and I have one less connection to run through. Good luck! They're great surrounds!
  12. Congrats - those look like they are VERY well cared for! Nice find and I'm sure they will remain well cared for!
  13. You are going to be VERY happy! (As long as you are able to add volume!) [] Congrats on the great purchase and welcome to the forum!
  14. Guilty, Battleship has some incredible "show off the system" scenes and that's about all it has!
  15. Can't help but read "The last Blu-ray you watched" and not think "is a lot better than reality right now!" I'll be checking out 9 - thanks for the posts!
  16. I close the windows and the front door. Can't hear the system from the outside. This is the wisdom I seek! [] I will do as you recommend! []
  17. We are going to be putting an addition on our house this summer and I will be able to put a theater (exercise combo) room downstairs. I have been reading forums, articles and blogs on soundproofing but I am curious from the members here what have you done to insulate sound from the rest of your house that has worked or not worked. A new living room will be directly above the theater so we are planning on suspending the ceiling from the floor joists above and adding insulation and sound board between the sheetrock and "hangers". I am exploring the option of Acoustiblok or something similar in addition. We will be offsetting wall studs as well. Anyone have experience with these methods? Room will be appx 24'x23'. I appreciate the feedback. I want to take advantage of the new construction opportunity to do things right, but I don't want to waste time and money on methods that have proven to be ineffective in application. AND as a father of an 8 month old - it would be nice to be able to watch a movie after bed time even if it's not at reference levels! []
  18. I've had success with these before, I THINK they will fit the KG 2.2's. They are very durable/heavy duty enough to hold pretty decent sized speakers. A LOT less work than self fab. [] http://www.pinpointmounts-eshop.com/AM-40_Side_Clamping_Bookshelf_Speaker_Wall_Mount.html
  19. Ok just read that - Mikey I live in Alaska but I will be in Charleston in August, hmmmm....
  20. Great room Mike! A lot of thought obviously went into this, it's clean and well put together, great job! I'm sure your friends are quite jealous after watching movies at your house!
  21. Danes are pretty amazing - LOTS of love in a big dog (who thinks he's a lap dog). [] occasionally we let him break the rules and sit on our laps during a movie. It's where he's happiest! (besides running). He's not a fan of LFE, so action movies - he's off to his bed.
  22. I thought the same thing. I changed my settings to shut the sub off completely and found myself walking up to it thinking it was still on while listening to music. The 7ii's have amazing bass!
