  1. That's settled then! Onto the next!
  2. Back from a whirlwind nc trip! So sorry we couldn't connect Chuck. My uncle who was hosting the reunion has leukemia and is on his last days, so his kids had to leave midweek and I took over part of rage hosting duties which ate up my free morning. Hopefully in Hope we'll meet up sometime! Left mid 90's for high 70's, but it feels great! Enjoying cup number one. Have a great rest of the week all!
  3. Praying for all of the above.
  4. Un.Real. Scrappy congrats - that's beyond awesome! I imagine the electric bill will rise a bit and be worth every penny!
  5. Happy Monday all! Great day for coffee in the far Pacific Northwest as it is pouring down rain! (For us). Lots to do at work this week, leave for a family vacation/reunion on Thursday - headed your way tarheel. Atlanta then driving to Wilmington and Wrighstville Beach! Hoping for sun, but a couple of coastal NC thunderstorms would be fun as well! Have a great week!
  6. Enjoy your stay in the lower 48. I'll bet it's quite a bit warmer down here right now. Great city to watch a baseball game! No kidding on the baseball! but alas the birds are out of town right now and I head home tomorrow.
  7. Greetings from St Louis! Here for a whirlwind work trip, coffee was a staple on the plane. That key cleaner takes me right back to chemistry class... It didn't clean my keys that well, but did bring life to my hair. Hope you're all well! Enjoy the rest of the week!
  8. Good morning CC&C crew! It's been great catching up a bit on the great times had in Hope! I'm on cup #2 at noon which is abnormal, but I did a spin class at the gym this morning which interrupted my normal schedule. Down 20lbs since mid March so the effort and eating tweaks are at least providing some fruit. Awful family medical history, need to take care of my body machine... It's glorious in south central Alaska! I hope you all have a wonderful extended weekend (those of you still working)!
  9. Glad you're all having a good time! Hopefully you'll all even remember some of it!

    Stock tips for fun

Long term investment is the commonly accepted vehicle for growing money. If you can make 4% return over the long haul that's boring. Day trading is another animal altogether. I believe you men term it 'hit it and quit it.' You can easily walk away with an STD. Then there is the in-between strategy. 2-3% on the invested funds. Then use those gains for more buying power. 2-3% again on the invested funds. And so on. Doesn't that sound 'fun?' If someone is disciplined enough to not keep putting the whole farm in - I agree. Very few maintain that strategy for long. Agreed - a little gamble is entertainment as long as the corpus of the financial picture is not in play. Financial independence is NOT boring - well said. The process to get there can feel boring in the short term which, imho, is why so few Americans are there. I earned 8% on $5,000 last year? well that's no big deal... keep feeding that monster through monthly or annual contributions and after a few years 8% will feel like a very big deal! I'd even say it's fun! People who get liposuctions get fat again very quickly, people who get rich quickly get broke quickly statistically. Because the discipline of lifestyle change was not implemented to maintain either.

Well, that's your problem right there. You like to gamble. Over the long haul, the boring, old fashioned Benjamin Graham approach will beat the gamblers each and every time. Ditto, what can give quickly can take quickly. Stats are all over the map on day/swing trading, but chances of long term success at quick, big, short term gains are very slim. Long term investing on the other hand, has a much better success rate. http://vantagepointtrading.com/archives/13922 estimates long term success at 3.5-4.5% (success meaning profitable which means at least just over breaking even, not necessarily making big money) http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/day-trading-success-rates.html the dummies estimate failure rate for day traders at 80% in the first year (walk away and don't come back). This is all strictly fun.

Buying AG which appears to be up 382% since Jan 20 seems to be a buy that has lost some of the discount it once had. AAPL is down 28% since May. Not sure I'd want to short AAPL when it's already dropped that much. There's some old adage about buying low and selling high and while I'm not a Yahoo pro, I may - for fun - swap the advice. 15. +1 enjoy! That's going to be a great time!
  16. Yeah my local dealer said they're being phased out.
  17. OK another pic for Steve since he is a Raiders fan. . When my brother and sister in law moved here from Alaska and decided to stay they had to change license plates and they gave me the old one's, this is from his wife's jeep, she is a Raiders fan but I still like her. What town did your brother live in?
  18. Very nice, probably be so much more comfortable you will fall asleep. Are you watching me - How did you know that?
  19. Interesting read! Thanks for sharing, I'll confess I was curious what exactly a genetal article was and whether or not it was safe to read at work.
  20. Happy Tuesday All! Got a new couch for the theater room, pretty happy about that - I can no longer feel the frame of the front of the couch pressing against the back of my thigh while watching a movie, this is a plus! Three cupper day! Happy Healing Boss!
  21. WOW! What a computer room setup! Congrats on the new KHorns!
  22. Probably true, you should see Jake jump up and pay attention when the neighbor lady passes buy. Probably true, you should see Jake jump up and pay attention when the neighbor lady passes buy. Yep, that's about all either one can do at their respective ages They're piling on here tar - you're getting the Rodney Dangerfield treatment! He's still younger than you in dog years?! Haha! Oh well - it's better than the alternative I suppose. At least you're here! Yeah Carl's just peeved because I make better martinis than he does If was going to Hope I would give him a lesson. When I cause trouble, I prefer my "pots" stirred, not shaken.
