  1. There is a pair of RF-7's in the garage sale thread for 700$ along with the rest of the matching setup, all excellent prices. I don't believe they are sold yet. Give the seller a shot, I am sure you won't be disappointed by them, especially at that price. They would blow the WF-35's away, no doubt.
  2. Welcome to the forum! You can always try calling Klipsch. They usually keep spare parts in stock, and are actually usually pretty cheap.
  3. Looks like it will require some extra electrical work in the form of a dedicated 20 amp line with a 20 amp outlet. I knew I should have been an electrician.
  4. That thing looks nice! It seems expensive until you start to look at other 5 channel amps rated at 400 watts per channel into 8 ohms, then it's actually pretty cheap. Anyone here getting one? I would love to hear how it stacks up against the XPA-5.
  5. RF-7 Classic RF-7 Original They are identical. Though it looks like the RF-7 Classic also comes in black wood veneer which seems odd. There might be people out there who have the classic and don't even realize it, though I guess it really wouldn't matter. Grats on your purchase, you should be extremely happy with them! They are excellent speakers. We will need pics when you get them setup though. If there are two things we love, it's spending each other's money and looking at pictures of other's setups.
  6. You can't really fault them too much. The ISO support was never actually officially supported, nor can it be found in the manual anywhere. It does get frustrating though losing features and having to jump through hoops to gain others because some people feel the need to steal.
  7. Anyone heard this song? I don't usually listen to a lot of rock music, usually because there is very little separation between the instruments and everything tends to bleed together making it fairly uninteresting to listen to, though I will always hold a special place in my heart for Alter Bridge. But I heard 'Unity' on the radio by Shinedown during my lunch hour, and was absolutely blown away by the sound and the lyrics, which doesn't happen often. I am wondering if anyone else has heard this song and their impressions. It's fairly new, I think the CD has been out for a few months now.
  8. An RC-64 of that finish would look very nice on my entertainment center, considering everything else is pretty dark. I'll have to keep an eye out for that now, though looking over the forum and google, I can't seem to find any mention of a classic RC-64. I would have thought bringing the RF-7s back due to popular demand in the form of the "classic", they would have went with a classic RC-7 instead of a 64.

    The Avengers

The Avengers was one of my favorites, and I agree earlier, what was said about "courting death" has a deeper meaning to fans familiar with The Avengers comic books. It was different enough from every other comic book movie to keep it enjoyable. I think I enjoyed 'The Dark Knight' a little bit more, but both movies are so different in theme and style from each other, both not only deserve a spot near the top of the best comic book movies ever list, but best movies list period.
  10. Very good to know! Do the classics usually sell for more? I am liking that finish a lot.
  11. I am loving the whole module idea. It's taking the future-proof of separates to a whole new level. And I've only ever heard excellent things about the greatness of NAD's house sound, I bet it sounds amazing! Grats on the purchase!
  12. I don't believe he is concerned with the II's. I wasn't really into Klipsch then, but I believe there were two different models of the original RF-7's. The classic had a darker finish as well as a grill that covered the entire speaker rather than just the tweeter and woofers. I am unsure of what differences there were internally though. I believe it had a higher sensitivity... (102dB @ 2.83V / 1m)???
  13. Haha! All because you decided one day that you would like a pair of rf-7s. Its exactly what i did when i seen an ad for some 83s. For me, its finally getting to a point where i feel like i should start thinking about a new tv and not so much audio. I just need an xpa-2 and a pair of rb-62s and i really hope ill be done wanting upgrades for 20 years or decide i need to have a 2 channel setup.
  14. I was implying that you rip your own collection at a high quality. On my computer, playing an iso file at full quality is no different than playing a bluray. In fact, it may be more enjoyable because i dont have to listen to the disc spinning. I could see that it would be very easy to pirate movies this way, and am not surprised oppo got strong armed into dropping this feature.
  15. If you really don't want to pay for new, and do go used, I suggest finding a unit with the older firmware. They used to have the ability to play ripped blu-rays and DVDs in ISO format from an external HDD via USB or eSata. For me, that would have been an amazing feature as I would no longer have to worry about swapping in blu-rays or scratches.
  16. Very nice setup! I got dibs on the flower couch.
  17. Nice on your RC-64! How do you like it so far derrick? Didn't you have an icon series one before? I know I was blown away by it going from a 62, I think your upgrade would have been on entire new level if you previously had the icon one. To the OP, check out Behringer A500 It's got a pretty high distortion. It's a 2 channel amp that claims 160 watts per channel at 8 ohms, but it weighs about 18.5 lbs.

    RC 64

If you get too impatient, you could always create a "Wanted: RC-64" thread in the Garage Sale as well. I've had some pretty good luck doing that with some hard-to-find speakers.

    RC 64

If the RC-64 is indeed timbre matched to the RF-82s as Klipsch says, I think you should go with that over the RC-62. However the price you mentioned is extremely high. Unless you absolutely need it now, I would go with an RC-64 but hold out for a better price. I had an RC-62 running with my RF-83s for a while, and I thought it sounded great, but when I swapped the RC-62 for an RC-64, the difference was astounding. I got my RC-64 for 600$ from a forum member, and I think even that was a tad on the high side, though it was still worth every penny. I would go with the first series of RC-64 though. The RF-7 IIs are pretty expensive and diminishing returns really start to take effect, when a pair of RF-7s, RF-63s, or RF-83s would do you nearly as well for a fraction of the cost. If you go with an RC-64, I also think that it will hold it's value quite well. I can't see them getting any cheaper than they currently are for used. If you go with II's, you are still paying a premium because they are newer speakers and haven't been discontinued.
  20. A few weeks ago, in a local buy/sell/trade shop, I found complete collections of Underworld and Resident Evil for a pretty good deal. I think on average for blu-ray, I paid 6$ for each movie. After watching them, I am not sure which I liked more. The first Underworld was amazing, but the series got progressively worse. On the other hand, I thought the first Resident Evil kind of sucked, but that series progressively got better. The one thing that tended to stay good throughout for me, was the performances of Milla and Kate. All things equal though, I think I preferred Kate Beckinsale because she wears more leather.
  21. Awesome you were happy with your speakers. It was a very sound investment. If for some crazy reason you don't want them anymore, you will be able to get at least what you paid for back out of them.
  22. I have never had a problem with a refurb anything. To me, it would be a no brainer, especially considering a4l is an authorized dealer and you are unsure of the other. Out of curiosity, what is it you are looking to get out of this that the 805 can't deliver?
  23. I've heard neither, but if you can't decide, I would go with selling the Pioneers for the wife. Or sell them both and get something very nice!
  24. In their current form, I really don't think they will last. Tablets are what come to mind when touch, gesture, voice commands, and direct brain control are mentioned, but they really are separate entities. The examples you mentioned could be incorporated into anything, and I am failing to make the connection how it has much to do with my post. The problem with tablets are they are just extremely locked down, low powered computers. While Androids are a little more flexible, Apple reviews every single app that gets put onto their marketplace. Until companies can completely open up and make their tablets more customisable and upgradeable in the software AND hardware, I really can't see them start to take the place of the traditional PC. I think the best route for them to go is to stop focusing on adding bigger and better processors, and focus more on being able to use them as basically an extension of a home computer. Instead of trying to build one single OS that will essentially be the jack of all trades, master of none (Windows 8), build me an OS that is designed specifically with tablets in mind, that can control the OS that I already have that was built specifically for my computer over the internet. That way I have the best of both worlds, and no one would ever really need to upgrade their tablet.
  25. I am seeing this whole tablet craze as just a gimmick that will eventually pass. Sure, tablets have their places and are pretty convenient, but for me, at most, they will ever only be a toy. I could never imagine actually having to work on one.
