  1. There are ways around it I'm sure. I'd think there are decent equalizers intended for room corrections in the analog realm. Also, a sub with its own room correction would work great as well. I believe the most impactful room corrections are done below 120hz anyway.
  2. The problem I see with using the 105 is to take advantage of it, you would have to bypass your receiver's room correction technology. It's a trade-off and I am not sure it's worth it for that reason.
  3. I always thought the same with the Cherry too until I picked up the cherry rf-83's. They really changed my perception on what a beautiful speaker is.
  4. Yeah, you should definitely hear some improvements once you get a better receiver. I doubt it will fix all your problems unless there are some configuration settings you are missing. My Pioneer was very strong on the bass and I really enjoyed it for music, and it wasn't a whole lot better than yours. I would be on the lookout for something with preouts so you get an idea of what you want by the time you can afford it. Most would suggest even going separates with a processor and amp combo.
  5. "*Purchase the new UMC-200 and receive 25% off Emotiva processors for life (details). If you hold a Generation 2 processor upgrade certificate you may redeem it for 40% off the UMC-200." 25% off for life? That's incredible. I really like the video-on-standby feature. For a little more than a grand, you could have yourself a very nice processor/amp.
  6. That price is way high. I thought I seen one for 900 around here a few months back
  7. Have to keep an eye on audiogon or ebay. I haven't even looked at resellers prices on these but I am guessing they will eventually discount them.
  8. Not sure. The best you can do is put a wanted ad up on the garage sale thread of this forum. Someone might have one laying around.
  9. That will be a pretty damn good setup for a 1000$ budget. It should keep you very happy for a long time. I also think it looks very nice. I used to have some of the older model Icon speakers myself and was always extremely impressed with them, especially for the price even at retail.
  10. For Led Zep, it would be my personal and humble opinion that it would be worth it, even if the difference is marginal at best. And Oppo BDP-93's are cheap cheap! I will be getting this for Kashmir alone.
  11. I think a lot of us, and myself included, never dreamed we would have the systems we do now. For me, it was only possible because I waited for some good deals and was willing to wait. Until my midlife-crisis happens, I don't think I'll ever be the guy that can go out and grab an entire set of something at retail.
  12. I'd have to respectfully disagree with Klipsch on that point. That Denon should have no problem powering what you are looking for. More would be better, but as long as you aren't listening at ear piercing levels, it should be fine. It also has pre-outs so if you wanted to add an external amplifier later so you can really turn it up, you'd be able to.
  13. Grats on your RF-63's! Those really are a fantastic speaker, I've got no doubt you will be extremely satisfied. One thing to keep in mind is with the RF-63's, you might want a decent presence as far as subs go. If you don't have anything you plan on using now, I think you would be happiest considering that, then looking at center, then looking at upgrading your receiver. Your receiver really should be fine, but there is no question you will get a decent upgrade by upgrading to separates. However, the amount of upgrade would be much bigger with getting a good center and sub.
  14. Another excellent review Youthman! I knew the sizes were quite a bit different but had never seen them compared side-by-side like that. The difference is quite a bit bigger than I thought. I am pleased to hear you are noticing a size difference. It's usually disappointing when a manufacturer has premium models for premium prices, but not a huge sound difference, so glad to hear this isn't the case.
  15. I believe what you are trying to is actually defeating the purpose of the USP-1 in the first place. I think you would be better of trading your USP-1 for an XDA-1 or XDA-1. Depending on how pure the analog path is in your avr, this would be your best bet.
  16. I think more need to do this. A few negligent employees at UPS could potentially drive up shipping costs for everyone in the country looking to do their business online. It's really disappointing how someone could be destructive, especially as you said, there are so many unemployed people out there that would be happy to take the job and actually do it well.
  17. I believe the tweeter on the RB-75's is the same size as your RF-7 II's so should give you the best match. May not be the most cost effective though, they are hard to find and can be pricey.
  18. I've got an RT-12d that's pretty good for music. I believe they usually go around the same price as the RSW-15 so it would be something else to watch out for if you get desperate. There aren't a lot of RSW-15s around.
  19. Very nice reviews and beautiful pictures, Youthman. Thanks a ton for taking the time to share, it is very much appreciated on behalf of everyone who couldn't attend in person. I sure wish they had more stuff like this in Michigan.
  20. Sorry to hear that man, that's rough!
  21. If your sources can output analog or you have a DAC, I would suggest looking at Emotiva USP-1s. They are pretty cheap and designed for exactly what you are trying to do. Emotiva USP-1 With that said though, I think you should be able to get the Denon working. There has to be an option in there somewhere to make it sound like you want. When you are testing your sub, are you playing something that is bass heavy?
  22. How do those TV Tuner boards work with your cable? I've been considering getting one, but I believe Charter forces me to also rent/buy one of their cable cards and not sure if the two can work together.
  23. Let us know what you think you get it, especially if you can spot any difference in picture quality.
  24. Looks like it's just been released! If you get one, let us know your thoughts, especially if you can compare it to a Bose.
  25. He says he spoke with "people from Klipsch" so I am guessing he has called them to see why. Very few companies would give out details as to why their products are being delayed though.
