When I got my Cornwalls they came with a spare K-33-E 15" speaker it sat in a box for another year. The wifes parents pasted away 1 month apart we inherited a 70s retro mini bar which sat here for a year aswell. One day sitting there I picked up my tap measure and found the mini bar was within inches of being the same size as my Cornwalls The lid on the bar opened and the front door becomes a lil table so to speak. I removed all the hardware and sealed the top lid went to home depot and got a 1" MDF cut to size, I calked, braced and sealed cabinet exactly the same as the Cornwalls. I striped the cabinet sanded down to bare wood and spilled my coffee on bare wood dam I went upstairs got a cup of cold water opened the jar of Nescafe instant coffee and made a Stain 3 coat later was looking good then varathaned rest is history The wife picked out the grill fabric,and it soundsamazing ,I added a Dayton 500 watt plate amp to rear

Today im going to home depot, I need new flush mount lighting threw out Im also going to re do wiring and put the system entirely on its own breaker

Im here practically every day, though I don't say much, this is still the best forum on the planet, great topics / greater people. Boxing week I got all brand new Marantz SR 7007 receiver, Klipsch RC64ii and RF82iis( rear surrounds) for under $2000. My 2 channel is now a 5 channel, mixing in my emotiva gear as well. While knowing full well it is a total miss match to my Cornwalls its sounds ok, I run everything full (large) I couldn't find anyone who would sell me a single Heresy II or III so I opted for the latter As im typing this I looked at Canuck audio and see locally 2 walnut heresys II and a pair of la scalas selling $1400 for all of them , grrrrr and I cant return the speakers as it only gives me a store credit no cash refunds.

lol you like that huh, ok 40" of surface area? while its rumored 2-10"s are the equivalent to a 14" driver but whats all this have to do with the price of bananas?

Currently I am driving Cornwalls with the XPA-100s mono blocks which is more than enough, if I had to do it over again with the RF7IIs, which I thought those speakers where and still are fantastic speakers I would go with a much bigger amp 400-600wpc but that would be my own personal taste and I base this on going from the RF7iis - Cornwalls I am currently running 250wpc@ 8ohms 400wpc@4 ohms Corns are rated at 100wpc the RF7iis are rated at 250wpc see where i'm going here. I feel although they are both high sensitivity speakers the RF7iis do and want a lot more juice to drive. I had my RF7s for a year they absolutely needed some hours to break in and loosin up. It was a couple/few months before I changed out the amps in the beginning, I purchased the entire system from brand new out of the box. But wasn't never happy with the sound up until I changed my pre/amps. I realize theres amps out there 2-3000 watts with 1000 dampening factors im not talking about how good it sounds loud im talking about how good its sounds at low volumes without any additives (bass/treble) I went from what I thought was a ok entry level Marantz Cd player 6004 to the Emotiva ERC-3 bass/mid got a lot tighter and highs are smooth/crystal clear most noticeable again was midbass/bass Impact, hell even an acoustic guitar has impact now its great. I do hear an aweful lot of live music on an almost a regular basis from my local bar to my most recent Yes Concert my ears probably aren't the greatest I can hear up to 12000khz nothing after that. But I have had a S***load of gear over the years and im sure tubes are in my future as I mature( ya right) it pays to shop around I switched out all my gear within a few hundred bucks and finally hearing what I wanted but never satisfied just the nature of the beast emo has a 30 day try it if your not happy send it back my local shop here wants dam near $6000tx in for new Cornwall IIIs, I paid nearly $4000 for the RF7iis when they had just came out , factory direct is looking better and better everyday

OH where to start, ok i've been in your shoes and I know exactly what your asking . Where's all the dam bass 4-10s = 40 inches of bass. Heres what I found I had to put a large amount of volume to my RF7s hit my tone and add bass there now I have bass I can feel, but its to loud now. So I added a 15" 400w Klipsch sub now its rockn @ low volumes. BUT the bass the RF7s put out was a whole lot better sounding on the RF7s than using the sub, we all agreed the RF7s sounded way cleaner tighter more accurate bass. I should add I never rolled the RF7s off ran them full range. I to looked at the HK integrated but took the anthem 225 over it . I don't believe in adding tones to my sound I like my path straight up from source to output Ok here's the game changer I got rid of the sub and the anthem amp. Introduced EMOTIVA to the RF7s,at low low volumes the RFs totally came alive put a huge smile on all our faces, how can there be such a dramatic different. I went from 225 wpc to a mere 250wpc difference , I suspect there's a lot more going on than I'm aware of what I suspect it is was the gain between the amp/pre where to low . This threads not about deep deep bass that's not what im talking about im talking about IMPACT of different instruments at LOW volumes. I can feel/hear the dudes hands hitting the bongos at low volumes, Drums are tight like there right there in front of you a,pluck of a bass string now im feeling this stuff its sounding more realistic and live im finely hearing what I want and what I paid for I believe. I wont even start about the different between the RF7s and the Cornwalls im running now also adding a Higher end source further improved my system it was like adding an EQ but it was only a CD player, again I was amazed how 2 players can sound so different. This isn't a plug for emotiva this was MY Cure proofs in the pudding

I was fortunate enough to get an extra 15" woofer when I got my Cornwalls months ago, I had be contemplating using it in a base bin that i've been trying to locate one for a while now with no luck. It would be run using a behringer EP2000 off the back of my Usp-1 This thread was a bit of a bonus as well I couldn't really use the speaker calculator to accurately until this post now I have a much better idea. Originally I was going to attempt to build my own cab but weathers been to cold lately, so ive been after one of these closet one ive found is 6-8 hr drive away. I have also thought of making a center speaker using exact measurements from my Cornwalls for a one day, maybe? HT

This past weekend I got 2 grand cash for my 1 year old RF7iis and scooped up Cornwall IIIs, same year for the same amount, which made happier than a pig in S*** there's some good deals out there it took me a full years searching on that trip

Exactly that, The Cornwalls where in the way, those Pallys where heading up to the main room.

I couldn't agree more both are nice speakers RF7iis play certain music a little better than the Cornwall's yes and visa versa

Thanks guys, feeling a little better now heres the best part of the story, after loading up the Cornwalls, the guy i'm buying them from says to me I have something you might wanna hear/see, so off we go to his basement he says on the way down you might have seen these in a picture, I started rhyming off quickly some old rare gear but no wasn't that Turned the corner and wooo Palladiums P-39Fs my jaw dropped he's running these thing on an old mint cond. Sansui Au-1 was all I could see at a glance not sure if that's the correct model but he said it was the cream of the crop so to speak. He stressed to me the sound card hes using in the computer hooked up to that was K mart brand basically that was his only sound source temporarily . He put on Fanfare for the Common man it was to say the least Breathtaking sound absolutely the best my ears have heard in a home speaker system I could just rave about it luckily with my quick thinking I had my buddy take a pic on his phone of course with me standing beside them lol I'm just waiting for him to send me the pic which I will share with you guys asap cheers

History repeats. Was looking to buy La scalas used older model but in mint cond. figured i'd have to replace drivers ,Xover redo cabs etc but hey that's the entire fun. Then I noticed these new A stock Cornwall IIIs for 1/3 the regular selling price sumthns gotta be wrong here, went immediately to give them a hear , he's running an old Sansui Su 717 sounded good,wife loves them. Do they sound as good as the RF7iis?? do they have the bass??? 4-10"woofers 40" of woofer versus 2-15" 30" here comes the worries. RF7s go down to 30hz Corns go to 34Hz. 8"horn mid/tweeter on the RF7 verus separate horn mid\tweeter on the Cornwalls .The old saying that 2 ways better for rock n roll 3 ways better for classical? Does specs even matter? height difference is almost a foot in the mid/highs. We all know raising speakers usually makes them louder and fuller sounding. My amps are rated 250 wpc into 8ohms 400into 4ohms we all know Klipsch ohms drop fast, are these amp gonna tare the Corns a new 1? (over power) Corns are rated 100wpc RF7ii 250 wpc Ok if I don't like them ill sell and go for the la scalas all good, dragged them home wife says wow there so nice lets put them in the living room, im to hungover to be switching furniture moving gear from basement to upstair so we dragged the Corns to the basement had them hooked up and running in minutes First impression noticably Wow there away more relaxing/laid back sound than the RF7iis, is there bass?? There is in fact MORE BASS than the RF7s how can this be? 40 " of moving parts then 30" i'm baffled now these Corns are actually louder sounding than th RF7iis WHAT???? the RF7iis are 250 wpc something's not right both basically rated same sound in Dbs 121v 119 im guessing the RF7s are loud but the Corns are definitely a little louder we all agreed listening yesterday they also ate up most of the power I threw at them unless they were feeding back to the amps? Maybe someone could clarify this I will post pics but, I am succumbing to this hangover when I shake these shakey shakes will post. Awwww the smell of new gear

The Emotiva's have a 30 day trial period give that a try, if they hiss/hum send back and get the parasound @$4000+. At least this way you won't have to be wondering down the road if you could have saved 2 grand. Im running a pair of emos on my RF7iis and I have to put my ear right up to my horn to hear any hiss, it is very minimal. They replaced another very good amp but, the emos blew that amp out of the water, I even removed a Klipsch 15" sub due to the bass the emos added to my RF7s. The XPA series isn't in the same category as the XPR series Re: Emotiva XPR-5 or Parasound A51 for RF-7 II home cinema system? Happy hunting

Prior to switching my amp/pre everyone who came threw my door commented on the brightness of the RF7s including myself. With the new set up, it was all cleaned up , very nicely, crystal clear and balanced , my last amp/pre just wasn't for the RF7s imo, which I purchased unheard and on reviews alone , I can even go as far to say it made my TT and CD player sound like I replaced those as well which I didn't. Once I added the Emotiva monoblocks the sub wasn't needed at all, even for 2 channel movies bass is amazing from the 7s even @ low volumes.
