  1. Jeez, I was looking for a receiver for my bedroom since my Onkyo 707 went kaput. Finally ordered a Pioneer which arrived just yesterday. Would of, could of, should of.......nice price.
  2. It is around 415 sq ft, or 3150 cu ft, with a stairway leading up to the 2nd level., which then goes to a 3rd level, if that matters. (split level home) And thank you.
  3. Looking for a pair of RS 52 II. I would go for the 42 II but I think my room is too large for them and I want to go down to a 5.1 from 7.1. So I think that the 52's would be perfect. Must be shipped to 14467. Thanks.
  4. Seriously, the cabs are worth $400 alone. They are gorgeous. I am a huge Oak fan and those cabs kill my Fortes. Those have got to be hard to let go of.
  5. I PM'ed you a week ago requesting pictures, haven't gotten any yet, so I would love some. thanks..>Sam
  6. Since Sept of last year I have put together a Klipsch system consisting of Fortes, Academy and KG 4's for the rear. They are driven by a B&K 200x7 amp. I have had Crites work done on all and they sound fantastic. Put a smile on my face everytime I fire them up. I have a rather large room I guess, around 3300 cu ft. I also have Axiom QS4's for the surround. If I just run 5.1 it sounds great, and when I switch to 7.1 it also sounds fine, but I don't see much improvement over 5.1. What I am saying it seems like a waste to have those beautiful KG 4's sitting in the rear and not really hearing them sing. I disconnected them the other day and have bee running KG 1.2's and really can't tell much of a difference. What I may do next is put new Ti Mids in my Fortes, put RS 42's in place of the Axioms, and may sell the KG 4's. Am I stupid for selling them? Is my hearing gone that much that I don't see much of an improvement with those big guys? I have also run the 4's in front and they really sound nice. But the Fortes are them and then some.
  7. Tried to post pictures but got error using Chrome and Firefox. I guess if anyone wants them I can email.
  8. New in box. Logitech Harmony Touch. Price includes shipping, prefer Paypal. I have tons of feedback at Ebay. Reasons I am selling is that I have obtained another Harmony One, the Touch seems like my not so nimble fingers will have a hard time. With proceeds from this sell I am going to purchase Klipsch Ti Mids for my Fortes,so if you have some and want to trade? Lower 48 only.
  9. I have a 4 yr old Panny S1 55" in the bedroom. At one time I thought it was the best picture ever. That is until I picked up the Sharp 80" in June of this year. Unbelievable set. Good luck with your quest.
  10. Can anyone tell me what if any are the differences between the two? Thanks.
  11. Bill, I am confused. I read a review of the DHC-80.3 and the reviewer said that one of the upgrades from the 80.2 is the inclusion of XT32. But I have read that the 80.2 does have the XT32. Do you know for sure which is it? I am tinkering with the idea also of getting a pre to replace my Onkyo 809. Don't know if it would be worth it but the more I read....... thanks..>Sam
  12. I just bought a pair of KG 4's on Thursday for my rears. They sound outstanding especially in all channel stereo (Fortes for mains). I have tried my system with sub/no sub, The sub makes a huge difference (HSU VTF-15). I also have tinkered with getting them off the floor and have found that 10" makes a big difference, hence I am building some stands for them. I agree in that a sub/center channel should be next. I am throwing this out there but I have a KV3 center that is unused and if you are interested pm me. Enjoy the KG 4's, they have blown me away, underrated for sure.
  13. Sorry to hear about this, it makes you sick to your stomach. It happened to us about 25 years ago. Came home and found they grabbed my new beta player and all the kids clothes. Insurance replaced it all. I picked up a gorgeous 3 year old German Shepard, and then we went out to dinner two weeks later to the day and they got us again. They maced the dog or sprayed her with something. Grabbed my 1 week old beta player again, tools, electronics and my safe, which had 10k in it(I just finished remodeling job, I am idiot) but it proved to be too heavy and they dropped it about 300 ft from house. I had had enough. I bought a house the next week in a nice suburb and eventually sold the old place. Scumbags...hey, they must be a member of the 47%? Hang in there.
  14. Bill, pardon my ignorance but what do you mean by lower noise floor? And those B&K's are elusive. thanks..
  15. Yes, they match my finish. I think you may be right in that they would be overkill as rears. I also have glanced at a really nice pair of KG2 with risers.
  16. Thank You, did check with Bob who said the same thing. I have been playing the Fortes since Saturday, got the crossovers and titanium tweets installed, did the cab mods. Have been listening to tons of tunes and some movies. Exceptional. The soundstage is so huge, the sound just seems to be coming from everywhere. Very very satisfied. Now, need to explore on getting the mid upgrades, if they are worth it or not. Have also been using the KG1.2's in the rear but have found someone local who has a pair of Quarts in excellent condition, wants $400 firm. What to do?
  17. Update. I checked with 3 crossover builders and decided to have Bob build me some "new" ones. He is a knowledgable person and takes the time to talk with you. I also have never seen anyone who can respond to an email as fast as he does. He just rebuilt my Academy and I was very pleased so it was a no brainer. But for the sake of it I had to ask for other opinions. I also ordered the Titanium tweeters and should have everything in a few days. I then ordered new dust caps for my passives. I also removed everything from the box and added some braces, then used Mortite for the gaskets and horns and siliconed the inside of the cabinet joints. I do have a question, don't want to bother Bob if I don't have to but on the mid squaker, I removed the wires without taking a good look. The other drivers have a + for the postive but nothing on the mid, only a yellow painted dot on one side, is this positive? Will post my impressions when everything is put together, hopefully by Saturday night.
  18. My wtb thread on the Garage sale thread can be closed. I picked up a pair of 88 Fortes, (an 8+ hour trip) a KV3 and a pair of KG1.2 for $400.00. The cabinets on the Forte are in good condition and the KV3 and KG1,2 are in really good condition. I also had previously picked up an Academy and Bob rebuilt the crossover and a put a titanium tweeter in it as well, It sounds fantastic. Easily the best center I have ever had or heard. I am listening to the KV3 and the KG1.2 now and they work just fine, and sound really nice. The Fortes on the other hand, the tweeters are shot. Didn't realize this until I got home and did some extensive listening. So then I took the old working tweeter from the Academy and put it in one of the Fortes, still doesn't work. I chatted with Bob and will have to do crossover too, I had planned on doing the tweeters and the crossovers anyway but didn't expect it this soon. When I pulled the old tweeter from the Forte it had a yellowish type fiberglass in the inside of the dome, looked really cheap and totally different from the old Academy one. So I am going to work on the cabinets a bit until I either sell off my Onix Rocket gear or hell freezes over. I really can't put another $300+ into them this soon. Also all I ever heard or read about is how strong the bass was in them. But the bass really didn't impress me, hopefully it is an issue with the crossovers and or the wires. When I pulled the passive woofer and the terminal cup I noticed the subwoofer leads were stuck against the subwoofer frame and the cabinet, When they put it together they pinched the wires there, had to pull the woofer just to get them out. I didn't even take the other Forte apart yet, but will soon to see what surprises are in store for me. And the Forte cabinet build is really not impressive, no braces at all? I wonder if I should at least install some t style braces? One piece of foam is in the bottom of it, but I don't know if installing anything on the walls would even be beneficial in this case. Anyone have any ideas on a much cheaper crossover rebuild option? I would want to get it off the cup and have new wires. I know Bob does great work but at $248 shipped for new ones, I am going to have to wait a bit.
  19. That is an awesome deal on the Academy.
  20. So I did what I said for about an hour today, mono, no processing, no subs, just the centers side by side, with me about 6' away. I did level match them as best as I could. The Academy was more dynamic for sure. The clear voicing of the Academy blew the RCS 200 away. It was as if I was at a concert with the Academy, and the Rocket was like sound coming out of a box. Everything about it sounded better. And with the subs on the difference was even more telling, the Academy just blended so much better with my 15" ported subs, not even close. I know that this wasn't even the best way to approach this, but it is all that I had and could go on. The Academy will be staying for sure. My hearing isn't what it used to be (I had it tested due to concerns- Doc said I am old) and to me it makes everything so much easier to hear and enjoy. My next step is to replace the crossover and possibly more from Crites. I will do this immediately and then sit and wait until I can find a pair of Fortes. They are hard to find at the right price. Thanks to all of you for the thoughful replies.
  21. Thanks for the responses. I will dig out my old Onkyo 707 and hook up the Academy to it, then my Rocket Bigfoot Center to the 809. I will level match them and then go to town, as much as I can. I did hook up the Academy to the 809 last night and ran it for a couple of hours with the Rocket RS760's. I level matched them, one thing I noticed is clear vocals and also the bass seemed stronger, much stronger in fact. I do have two ported 15" subs. On a side note the wife saw me surfing and looking at pictures of the Heritage line last night and she said "no, no, no, no more speakers". Haha, she didn't even notice the Academy with its Oak finish in place of the Rosewood Rocket. She is a good woman though, and I know she won't mind.
  22. I am sorry if I am being naive in asking this but I just bought my first Klipsch (Academy) and before I proceed in acquiring more main-etc) what would be the easiest way to compare it against my current center channel? I know that it doesn't match my mains, but for now I would like to at least get a taste of what may come. I have an Onkyo 809 if that helps. I will also need some guidance on how to pull the crossover out of it to send to Bob, Thanks to all, I appreciate any comments.
