  1. Wouldn't adjusting the time delay take care of that... Or is there more to it than that?
  2. Underneath Wouldn't it be better to put the 1/4 pies on their side so as to 1: conserve space, 2: have the mids and tweeters at the stock heights?
  3. I thought you were blown away by Claudes 1/4 pies...
  4. Whoa where did that come from. first and foremost the Parasound A51 is a fantastic amp. You could go with any of the receivers you were looking at and add this amp for power an dyou likely wouldn’t need to change it for a very very long time. Parasound in general makes excellent amp and pre-amps. I almost went with the parasound halo amps but opted to go with anthem’s products. You will be extremely happy with the parasound! What is your budget for amp and pre amp or avr? Wow if your going to get a nice amp then go with the Marantz AV8801 for sure I think the only advantage of the Marantz AVP over the Denon 4520ci is that it has balanced outputs, and possible nicer looks. It does cost quite a bit more though too. That is why I suggested staying with a AVR and getting an external power amp if the TS wants a better amp. If money is not an object I would go all Classe.
  5. I think the AVR is still the best way to go as they offer all the features of a good preamp for less money than a dedicated AVP, and as long as you get pre outs you can add whatever amp you want.
  6. Denon here. The upper Denon models usually spec out at the head of the pack in bench tests. I like the fact that their upper models are built in Japan instead of China. I agree... I still prefer "Made in Japan" vs "Made in China".
  7. No Denon option? I use the 4520 and it is great... A friend of mine also got the x4000 and he loves it too.
  8. Where would you put the 1/4 pies then... On their sides next to the La Scalas?
  9. Would only have room for 1 (well unless I hung the other two up high for front heights LOL) Yes, the living room will definitely be out of the questions. If I keep these, they will have to remain in the HT for sure. I'm doing good to have a huge pair of RF-7ii's in the living room. That's what i'm saying... get 3 more and use a pair for heights too!
  10. I bet when you turn em up you will feel it in the chest! You can always get some Danley subs to go all horn, and horn loaded. You could also make some 1/4 pies and mate your horns to them (it will also make them lower but wider by almost double).
  11. I hope to have mine ready in July... Waiting to get some more cash to be able to do it. The bills are a bit high right now to complete the HT, so the progress is slow but we have all the electronics except I need some more EV DH1A drivers to finish it off.
  12. It looks like you might even have enough space above your screen for some La Scala Heights too!
  13. Why so? A belle has a smaller profile and would likely fit better in my room. The horn is bigger on the La Scala, plus it is the same speaker, and cost less.
  14. Yup, a La Scala would be best I think, and it looks like you might just have enough room to fit them under your screen too!
  15. I've considered something like that where you have the "False Wall" be mostly plywood and fabric. Only problem is I need the front wall to house the equipment so I would need to be able to access it with a "door" of some kind. Plus, I would want my screen to be almost the width of the room since I'm using a 2.35:1 aspect ratio. I would love to hear Indy's room. I bet it does sound absolutely fantastic! I am making my front wall be a screen that will go almost wall to wall... The front speakers, and one of the Danley DTS-10 subs will all be behind the AT screen wall. The width channels will be in the left and right corners and the rack will be above the left width channel. The width channels and equipment rack will all be behind a black transparent cloth screen. We are not doing a baffle wall so the walls behind the screen will be heavily dampened with black dampening material..
  16. Congrats on your La Scala purchase... From the pics they look like they are just the basic Birch plywood ones that were stained. I has some back around the time those were made and the birch cabinets had some real nice wild grain on them. I stained mine and they look great too. Fast forward 30+ years, and I went out and bought 3 more as I missed my old ones. I have went off the deep end on mine though and they will never be the same. I have cut the tops off and I am going with a biamp setup with JBL2360a horns, EV DH1A drivers and minidsps for crossovers. Keep them the way they are and enjoy them! I think you might want to replace the caps though if they are original as they are pretty old. Other than that you are set for many more years!
  17. She most likely is still driving... I remember in California years back when they would take a persons car when they were arrested for repeat drunk driving. This didn't last long and soon the rich were driving their cars again with out a license and still drunk. Pretty messed up if you ask me.
  18. Well upon further investigation... She was def at fault as she hit him from behind per this report, and sot hit on the side (sounds like she hit him from behind with the side of the car). "He also suffered a broken big toe and lacerations to his head and body. The court heard that the victim couldn’t believe that Davis rang triple-0 after the accident but refused to offer him help after she parked 100 metres up the road. Even more stunning was Davis’ answers when interviewed by police two days after the accident and asked about using her phone. “I just don’t care because I’ve already been through a lot of bullshit and my car is like pretty expensive and now I have to fix it,” she told a police officer. “I’m kind of pissed off that the cyclist has hit the side of my car. I don’t agree that people texting and driving could hit a cyclist. I wasn’t on my phone when I hit the cyclist.” Davis had driven from a supermarket in east Warrnambool to just west of Koroit when she hit the cyclist at 7.20pm on September 20 last year on the Penshurst-Warrnambool Road. The cyclist was on the edge of the road heading west when Davis hit him from behind, despite there being lights on the back and front of his bike. Records showed Davis used her phone 44 times in her drive from east Warrnambool to Koroit, sending and receiving 22 text messages to seven different phones. At 7.18pm she received a text message and 51 seconds later made the call to triple-0 after hitting the rider. Magistrate John Lesser said there were issues surrounding the case of great community significance, especially drivers using mobile telephones. He noted that Davis’ comments were poorly put when she was interviewed by police. Mr Lesser noted that yesterday a Terang family business was fined $17,500 with more than $3000 costs after a workplace accident and the injuries caused were not as significant as those suffered by the rider. The wife of the bike rider was in court for the hearing yesterday and was deeply disappointed Davis did not lose her licence for longer." I find it interesting that she says in one part that the cyclist hit her car but then in another sentence she says she wasn't on the phone when she hit the cyclist. She can't even get her story straight. Hopefully they will never give her her license back... Which means she won't have to worry about the expense of fixing her pretty car and can just sell it.
  19. I agree that her thinking is messed up... Doesn't the rider of the bike have a responsibility to make sure it is safe to pull out too? Now if she was driving down the road, and the bike was in the same lane, and she side swiped him then she is 100% at fault whether she was texting or not.
  20. Don't know.. I am just bring it out there because I have seen all the TV ads about Motorcyclists and how even if you are at fault they will sue and win. In California the Cyclists seem to think they own the roads and if they pull out in front of you you should stop... even if they are wrong. I am not saying that is what happened but it is possible. Plus it is possible that since she was seen texting that they made her automatically at fault.
  21. I.m going to bring out the other side to this... Did she run into the bike or did the bike run into her? In the video it says the dent is in the side of her car which would make me believe the bike ran into her. I am a firm believer that you should not be texting while driving and she was def wrong for that but if the bike ran into the side of her car then it would be his fault. I hate the way bikers seem to think they don't have to stop at intersections, hog a lane to themselves, and act like a pedestrian when it suits them at an intersection. I think bikers need to pay attention too, as they are also responsible for their actions.
  22. Looks like a good price for them... I think the first pair look like they are in better shape though. They should be in the Alerts section though.
  23. From what I understand the number of channels is not that important... It is that they are doing object orientating. I have heard they are working on a home version that would allow you to get by with 5.1 if that is all you had. If you only have 5 it will direct the info to one of the 5. I am assuming that each speaker should have good dispersion and be spacious so you could hear the full benefit of the object orientating.
  24. Has anyone went to one? I went last night and watched the latest Captain America movie, and it was the best audio I have ever heard in a theater! I had heard it was good but I was shocked as to how good it was. It reminded me of the first time I went to a THX theater years ago... So much better than anything else that was available at the time. This theater had 6 speakers on each wall, 12 on the ceiling and 4 on the back wall. I went down to the screen to see how many speakers were behind the screen and I couldn't see any. I am assuming that they were above and below the screen (which struck me as odd), which might be the way they do it in an Atmos theater since they use height channels. If you haven't went to a Atmos theater you deserve it, IMO. I went at 1030pm and there was only 4 others in the theater... Plus it only cost $10.
  25. When I post pics... I just use photobucket as it is much easier.
