  1. Here's the floor plan of the living room. The ceiling is 20 ft high. There is 5 1/4" crown mouldings around the entire perimeter of the living room. Even over the small section where the second floor jets out into the living room with an opening. I forgot the measure of the stairs but they are 42" wide. Windows have blinds. I don't know if I am missing anything else. If anything is unclear, let me know. Thanks.
  2. Tile floors. I live in South Florida, so it's all tile. I did put a carpet in front of the couch. Not a very thick one, so absorption is probably minimal. Also how do I determine what frequencies I am having trouble with? I've been researching that topic but have struggled with getting info on figuring it out. Thanks.
  3. Thanks for the info. I'll upload a sketch tomorrow. I don't even have a tape measure in the house. It's all at a job site right now. What other info do you need me to provide?
  4. Need some help with setting up acoustic panels. I have a 17 x 23 x 20 living room. Even with a 9 piece sectional and a 7' x 10' rug in front of the sectional, the echo in this room is unbearable. Conversations are annoying and when I turn up a good movie, it can be annoying too. Above 8 feet there is just too much bare wall. Tv and main speakers are on one of the long walls and the sectional is about a foot off the adjacent short wall and opposite long wall. One wall, partially opens to the rest of the house and then stairs that lead up so there is a partial wall at the 23 ft and then half way up I'm assuming 30 feet because of the stairs. I need help setting up my panels. I know the horn loaded tweeters are a little different. There isn't as much reflection to worry about. I have convinced the wife to set something up directly behind the listening position. I'm making panels from roxul 2 in. thick rockwool. She finds them too thick if we go three. She found some fabric that will work and I've made some panels to make patterns she wanted that we're setting up. So I want to know if there is anything other than behind my head I should worry about. My fronts are Rf-5 for mains and Rc-7 for center. I'm using the quintents I have for side surrounds. I may experiment with one behind the couch after its all set up and see if I notice an improvement, but otherwise 5.1 is what I'm worried about for now. Eventually I want to upgrade my rears. Thanks.
  5. Most definitely a great sub and I need it. My living room is huge. I need more power. It just seemed a little too good to be true. We do see scams from time to time and I'm sure someone on here would notice. If it's there in two weeks I'm definitely calling him up. I have no money right now. I have irregular income.
  6. Sounds almost too good to be true. If it were a few weeks later, I'd inquire but I'm waiting for a closing. Posting it for anyone who wants to inquire. https://miami.craigslist.org/brw/msd/6047897280.html https://miami.craigslist.org/brw/msd/6048021683.html
  7. I understand certain equipment such as an amplifier, power conditioner and uninterrupted power supply being off in a backroom or closet, but not the AV or pre amp or even blu ray. If you need change settings, pause for a bathroom break etc. it seems as if it would get annoying. Amazing set up by the way. I love seeing these set ups. It lets meet ideas for when I set mine up a little more down the road.
  8. Only a 2 hour drive from me for these bad boys, but my money situation isn't ok right now. My RF-5's will have to do for now. Not that I'm complaining about them.
  9. What cds were you playing in each of those videos? They sounded great. \
  10. I hear you. I got kicked out of the family room when I wanted to start doing to many things. Room Tx's can be decoration is done right and take on the form of room art. You can make your own and select some really nice fabric. Something custom made with some of the pictures she takes or a collage of the kids may work. Problem is we're going to need a lot of them and she loves the big open space and not cluttering the walls too much. Eventually I want to build a man cave/home theater in the garage. That i know will solve most of it. Just have to tough it out for now. That project is still a few years away unfortunately. The kitchen needs to be done first.
  11. I'm using the rc-7 for center. There are no room treatments in this room. We have a huge sectional and an additional recliner but it so such a big room that we still have an echo. I mentioned creating some acoustic panels to the wife, but she never responded.
  12. Yes, all speakers are set to small and the crossover is set. Can't remember off the top of my head. I let the MAAC set it.
  13. Yes. I have a JBL PW12. I need to recalibrate everything since I moved some furniture and it looks like one of the kids moved a setting on the sub. You think it's too weak for the size of my living room?
  14. Thanks for the info guys. With such a large living room I was wondering if taking the pressure off the receiver would help. I've also noticed that when I turn it up loud that the dialog can sound a little muffled.
  15. Just wondering for those out there with Rf-5 speakers. If you have a Pioneer Elite SC-75 even better as that's what I have. I was wondering if it would make a difference with the speakers? I have a 5.1 set up with the RC-7 for a center. I know some of it is subjective and some depends on the room. I do have a large living room. It's 18'x 23' with 20' high ceilings. Interested in opinions.

  17. I've read that you can't sear your steaks on a pellet smoker and the higher you cook the harder it is to get smokey flavor into your meats. Have you had this problem?
  18. Ronny, I have had ribs just like this and they do turn out very nice. The only problem I have run into with the slow cooking is in keeping the temp low enough. Thanks for the recipe. Use two water pans. As he said, one under the meat to keep them from drying, but use the other one over the fire. I use it to keep the temp. at about 225 which is at what I cook my ribs. It will also keep the cooking chamber damp and prevent spikes in temperature.
  19. They are great speakers. Good luck with the sale. I second that. The kids weren't here last weekend so I really got to crank mine up and spent over two hours just listening to music. They truly are amazing speakers.
  20. Taking applications for a housekeeper that doesn't look like the pic. I do windows ? Love being on the ocean, but I need a dock. To live on the water I need to be able to fish. I miss our old house in the Florida Keys. It wasn't on the ocean but on a saltwater canal which lead right to the ocean. Just jump on the boat and go. When you get back tie it up and if it's too late clean it up in he morning. The convenience of not having to trailer a boat is awesome.
  21. I'm sure she's hinted at something she wants like a Michael Kors bag or something. Bring her one and she won't say a damn thing. It's how I've bought some of my toys.
  22. My room is of similar size and layout and I have room for 7.1... and two rows! Do you mind elaborating or perhaps a picture or two? Thanks.
  23. Don't know if I would change my set up itself as much as the room. As much as I love my house I would want to make it a little different. I would build me a new house with a room that sets up better for a 7.1 set up. I have a large room now, 18x23, but the way it's laid out I can't set up 7.1, only 5.1. The tv and couch are along the longer walls so the distance to the tv is 18 ft. I can't move it along the shorter walls because on one side is the stairs and on the other is the front door and an adjacent window. Wife says it would look ugly on either one.
  24. How do you like the combo of the VSX53 and Emotiva amp? I've been think about getting one in the near future for my VSX53 to push my RF5s better. My room is 18X23 with 20 ft high ceilings. So I am wondering an amp will help. Right now I have to turn the receiver up a little to hear things at comfortable level.
