  1. This thread may get more interest if it were in the Home Theater forum section.
  2. The good news is that you'll soon be able to buy a new one for $4,000! https://www.engadget.com/2016/02/29/technics-explains-sl-1200-turntable-price/
  3. Welcome to the forum Eric! I don't see why you'd have any problem using the CDT-5650's with your setup. Call around for the best price. Hope you stay around and post often!
  4. Sweet!!! Are you going to use the 15" ported cube from diysoundgroup? http://www.diysoundgroup.com/ported-subwoofers-1/15-cube/cube15.html How well does it model in a 3cf sealed box? I get the impression that this driver is designed to deliver powerful mid-bass instead of real deep extension.
  5. Whoa, is that subwoofer mounted on the wall above a door? That thing has got to be heavy!
  6. Thanks, for the price I figured they're probably worth a shot.
  7. Anyone ever try using these for subwoofer feet? https://www.amazon.com/Large-Cube-Square-Rubber-Bumpers/dp/B00S4BY88W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1472146769&sr=8-1&keywords=Cube+rubber+bumper+feet
  8. That does look like the better way to go. I bet it would help with the glue buildup problem. I'd be nice if they offered it in a 1/2" shank, but that might be overkill.
  9. Just a regular 1/2" shank flush trim bit like the one below.
  10. I'm trying to match the finish of my cherry RF-7 IIs as closely as possible. Does anyone know what kind of finish the factory applies and/or how to closely replicate the appearance?
  11. Yes, it's flat cut cherry. I ordered it from the Oakwood Veneer website here: http://www.oakwoodveneer.com/cherry-veneer-flat-cut-american-black.html I purchased the standard quality veneer, but if i were to do it again i would get the premium quality. The sheet i received had quite a lot of small knots which made it difficult to get a clean section for the visible portions of the box. The only trouble i've run into with the veneer is the glue gumming up my flush trim router bit. I also had to be careful not to crack off the excess overhang at the edges of the box when using my veneer scraper.
  12. Thank you. It's slowly coming together. This has got to be the slowest subwoofer build in Klipsch forum history!
  13. Progress report...almost done with the veneering.
  14. Did you consider any speakers from the Reference Premier line?
  15. This is what I would get with your budget... https://www.amazon.com/SC-1223-K-7-2-Channel-Receiver-AmazonBasics-Bluetooth/dp/B016VI6W06/ref=sr_1_23?ie=UTF8&qid=1471950337&sr=8-23&keywords=Pioneer+sc
  16. The Legacy sub that the driver was used in has a passive radiator. I'm probably not going to buy one of these drivers since I'm going to be using two SI DS4 18" subs when i finally finish my build. Although, if this driver could be used in a small sealed box, maybe i could fit one in the rear corner of my media room to fill in the mid-bass...
  17. I'm inclined to agree just based on the Fs value, but the motor on the Legacy driver looks much more powerful.
  18. I bet they sound different because DVD is probably mixed in Dolby Digital 5.1 while the BlueRay is 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio.
  19. Just keep the grills on and you should be ok.
  20. Seems like a nice looking driver for $160. What do you guys think of the specs? It's used normally in Legacy brand subs according to a thread on AVS. http://www.parts-express.com/15-famous-maker-dvc-high-excursion-aluminum-cone-subwoofer-4-ohms-per-coil--299-700?AID=1457483&PID=4003003&SID=is4khdn7lp00s3dy0005c

  22. Isn't one aluminum and the other titanium?
  23. Sounds like he did if screws were missing.
  24. Sweet! M3's used to be fantastic. We had a 1994 M3 in blue that was too fun to drive. I lost the car once, went sideways across a curb, and destroyed the suspension. 1994 was the only E36 version without traffic control...
  25. The problem with the uber-suv's is their combination of high mass, high center of gravity, and high power. Bad things happen quickly.
