  1. Set everything to small and 80hz xover. -18 is a decent volume where as -28 should not be really loud. I think your 1st calibration was way off. I would start again, subs at 3/4 volume and direct. Level match subs with db meter and check phase levels/matching. Once you are happy that the subs are matched then re-do calibration. Then change all speakers to small and xover at 80hz. Then if necessary bump sub trim on receiver up 3db.
  2. How are you setting up the mic for calibration? Was there any difference in how you had the mic placed on your original calibration and your new calibration?
  3. How old are these receivers? And how long has this been happening for? Has it just started to make the noises or jas it done it since the speakers were setup?
  4. Speaking of RF-63's and RP's, I think Klipsch should build an RP-360F with three 6.5" woofers and a 1.25" titanium compression driver(RP tractrix) with real wood veneer. As far as keeping Quartets, put them in a small stereo rig in your man space and please the bride with some nice new modern RP-280Fs in the common(her) space. Bill I have been hoping for similar just with rp380f. If the horn used in the 280f is 8" it should be at least that size with any new rp flagships still to come.
  5. Numbers that far into positive does not sound right for your speakers. All my speakers are around -7 to -9 and I adjusted my subs to -7 up from -10. At -28 the volume is just starting, -15 is very loud and anything over -10 is uncomfortable. Instead of your trims being high you should be turning your relative volume up. I believe you have a speaker setup and or calibration issue.
  6. see this is where I get right back into the ignorance is bliss thing. If the OP has been listening to tv speakers for the last three years don't you think the r-25c would be a huge upgrade? Personally I think the RP-450c is a horrible center channel. BUT I have owned much higher quality center channel speakers. So thats why I feel that way. Yes the r25c is a huge upgrade compared to tv speakers. But I have heard the r25c and cannot recommend it over the rp line if they are also being considered. I have heard the rp250c and it is better than the r25c, I would like to think the rp450c would again be better. The mains are still big speakers and in my experience a larger center will sound better between towers.
  7. And timbre matching matters-to an extent. If the ops primary focus is on improving dialogue for tv and some movies I would suggest get the rp450c. It may not be a perfect timbre match but will definitely achieve what the op wants.
  8. Its not just the woofer sizes and number it is the horn size that really counts. From the pictures it looks the rp450c has the largest horn. I cant tell if the rp250c and rp440c share the same horn but to me that would be the decider. Largest horn in the same series is always going to be better.
  9. They do make beefier centers, they just dont fit in the walls to good lol. I would not go in wall and despise the thought of in ceiling, just my opinion.
  10. Glad I could help. A pc set up properly with a good dac is a pretty powerful tool. Tidal hifi does it for me.
  11. Try control panel>hardware and sound>manage audio devices>whatever your device is>properties>advanced. Should be able to select the sample rate and bit depth output.
  12. That could be the decider between those 2 where as in the past it has been recommended that if using a sub there is minimal difference between the 6.5 and 8" speakers.
  13. Hmm so the rp440c is in fact not as good as the rp250c?
  14. Hi guys So horn sizing on the reference speakers? Here is what I think I know so please correct me if I am wrong- R82 and rf62 models and similar and their matching centers all have a 6" horn. R52 etc have a 5" horn. Rf42 etc have a 4" horn? Here is what I do not know- New rp models, I am assuming and hoping the rp280f and rp260f still have the 6" horn? How about the new centers? Any ideas on the horn sizes for the rp250c, rp440c and rp450c? My friend has rp260f and rp250c but I have not yet measured them. Also the rp250f I would assume this has a 5" horn but once again do not know. Anyone here have a definitive answer on horn sizing through the generations??
  15. Just fyi there is a difference in horn sizing as the models go up where the rc52 uses a 5" horn and the rc62 uses a 6" horn. They both use the same size 1" compression driver but with klipsch the horn sizes do matter. This also applies for the tower speakers. I am not sure on the new rp line and the pictures seem to suggest the rp250c and rp450c share the same horn size while the rp440c seems to be smaller. If someone could elaborate on the horn dimensions that would be great.
  16. I would say get a proper sub, does not have to be klipsch. 2nd I would say a bigger set of mains and move the rb15s to surrounds and get rid of the in walls. Always upgrade speakers before electronics.
  17. Have I read right that you already have an Onkyo receiver? What is the model if you do indeed have it still? You have 2 subs so they will take the bass if crossed over correctly and you have relatively efficient speakers so any receiver should be fine depending on what you are expecting from your system. Generally you want to spend significantly more on speakers than you do on electronics.
  18. Those AMC must be getting old, I have a 2N100-3 which I got 2nd hand around 5 years ago. It is a solid performer and is very close in performance to that of my NAD 275BEE. I also had an AMC integrated which I forget the model but it was only 50wpc. This serving as a pre on my other amps was a very nice 2ch rig. I will 2nd the suggestion to look at NAD- maybe the 375BEE which is an integrated version of mine. I have rf83s and would not want to go below 120 true watts, I would recommend the same for your 7s. Whatever rig you pick make sure you can hook that sub up the way you want. If you are looking at that much power you can also experiment running them full range, I swap all the time on mine and just add in a bit of eq to give them a helping hand.
  19. Get the biggest sub- pc2000. Bigger is better. How do those 160s sound? I am considering a set or some rp260fs to replace my rf82iis as surrounds. That or just go all out and grab the 280s but they are fairly expensive here.
  20. How does the quality compare to physical media on that(awesome)setup? I only have a few cds and cannot tell any difference on my 83sSorry I missed your post. Tidal is definitely CD quality and on par with my Oppo BDP-83SE playing CD's. The 96-192k downloaded music I have is amazing!Very nice! Good to know it is actually cd quality as this is my main/only music source now. Movies and bd are a different story lolSent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
  21. Can you put the center on top of the entertainment center? Aesthetics and good audio usually go against each other unless you have a sickness like some of us. I would also strongly recommend another 10" or a larger sub especially for movies- it will make a difference.
  22. You said movies are a priority, I would make the larger center fit as it is important. If you are considering premiere dont buy the models under. If you get a good sub later rp260f will do fine, I have just helped to install a mates system with rp260f and twin 10" subs, very impressed for the price. I always suggest monopoles as surrounds(personal preference) and the rp160m have great reviews on their own, should be cheaper too? Good luck!
  23. I like the U.I. and the selection, the quality is better than youtube (320kbps vs 192kbps) which is what I was used to. Then I just had to discover tidal hifi with its 1411kbps flac streaming. If spotify had the higher bitrate I would stay with them, until then unfortunately tidal gets my vote. It must be noted I only have a few cds and literally no other music so for me the cd quality was the decider.

  25. I am a bit behind with all the new airplay tech and am reasonably new to pc in general, what is a squeezebox and a qnap and what are their functions if you dont mind me asking?
