  1. I was very excited when I bought my '77 Klipschorns. I can say without a single doubt I was just as excited when I bought my '81 Cornwalls(walnut) this past weekend. I'm happy to be a member of Club Cornwall too. If Klipsch were to ever bring them back,I hope that they will use the same drivers that are in the Klipschorn and La Scala of current time. That's just my opinion. I love mine so much it's hard to decide which end of the house to be in.Well the computer is in the bedroom,so for the moment,I'll listen to my Cornwalls. Decisions decisions decisions Fixin the tweets isn't hard and cheaper than buying the whole thing.
  2. fini, that's a very good way to describe the size of these monsters. I woke uplast night and looked at them and thought, man are these things HUGE!!! I don't crank em,but they do sound so fantastic. Colin, won't say how the love life has been effected edster00,no way on the Heresy, won't fit anyway. Went in to the living room with the K-Horns and I must say I sure do love my Cornwalls, but the Klipschorns are the best This message has been edited by Steve P on 08-13-2001 at 08:36 PM
  3. OK,no takers?Guess I give ebay a shot! Let me know, they are just resting and need a new home.Served us well.
  4. Just got my Cornwall Is home and in their new home.Ya I know what you guys are going to say,"Are you crazy?,in the bedroom?"Yep. Our new babies are 1981.They sound sooooooooo good! I'm still using the KSB 2.1s for the HT and the Cornwalls for music.Believe it or not the bass is great even up on the end tables.I added the 2 SW 8 IIs to them and they said,"no I'm not going to even try to keep up with my BIG brothers"! To me they are as close to K-Horns,La Scalas as I can get in the space. They rock! ------------------ Main HT:'77 Klipschorns w/ALKs, '75 Heresy center, modified with,K-Horn sqauwker & AA network. 5. Mike,go for the Denon POA-2800.I've got 2 and found them on ebay.1 cost me $260,the other $300.They are 1 ohm stable.Tried mine with a 2 ohm load,no heat.My K-Horns loved me for them. 6. Anyone in driving distance to the Charlotte NC area I have a pair of light oak oil, black grill 1996 Heresy IIs.They are near mint. One slight ding in the top back edge.Want pictures, email me.$500 and I don't want to ship them unless you want them bad enough. They are being replaced with something (Klipsch) bigger. This message has been edited by Steve P on 08-07-2001 at 08:53 PM
  7. Have you been to the SVS site, their amps aren't that much. But I have a '94Yamaha MX-630.135X2@8ohms,190X2@4ohms,2.1 head room. It's 2 ohm stable.Used it only to drive my 2 DIY 4ohm subs.Never abused.Interested?email me. This message has been edited by Steve P on 08-07-2001 at 08:34 PM
  8. Well '82 was the first year for the KG-2 and they are 18.9H,13.25W,11.5D,weight is 28lbs.
  9. Stu,you are not missing anything. Heresy with metal horns is the way to go.The drivers are all the same except as you said the woofer. The mid horn is just a little bit smaller(K-700 compared to K-600) and crossed over a only 100Hz higher.600/6000;Cornwall.700/6000;Heresy. Finding one,you know ebay has one once and a while. I used a stock Heresy with my K-Horns till I found a K-401 horn and changed the Heresy E network to an AA network. Heresy would be near perfict,Cornwall would be!
  10. OK Elliott, here is what you do.Upgrade to the 3801 and get 2 more Heresy IIs!!!! Sell the RC-3. Then you will have 6.1 and matching speakers,no question about it.The NEO6:Music sounds very good if you are into multi-channel music. Or keep the RC-3,add to it and move the 2801 into the bedroom.
  11. Thanks Tony.I just right clicked on it and saved it to wall paper. And there it is!

  13. Go to Sears and see what they have in stock.Gte the prices.Go to www.mysimon.com and do a search of the models and get the lowest price, print it.Sears will honor the price with no problem. Got my bedroom Panasonic DVD-RV31 about $40 cheaper than the marked sale price.$160 if memory is right. Don't bother with the Apex, remember you get what you pay for.Sony at Sears was a better mark down at almost $100 off thier price. Not unhappy at all with the Panasonic,it plays CD-Rs,and MP3 ------------------ Main HT:'77 Klipschorns w/ALKs, '75 Heresy center, modified with,K-Horn sqauwker & AA network. 14. External amps are a great improvement to a reciever. It takes the load off of the poor overworked transformer, frees it up to do a better job with the pre-amp section. When my Denon AVR-2800 was being used with Fortes it could play very loud, but it didn't sound great loud, just loud.About +12 or so on the 2800. Now have the 3801 with older Denon POA-2800 amps and the difference is great.Detail, soundstage, but then the mains aren't the same anymore. ------------------ Main HT:'77 Klipschorns w/ALKs, '75 Heresy center, modified with,K-Horn sqauwker & AA network. 15. Doug I have found I get better results using the Avia disc to set levels. After all it is using the sourse instead of the built in tones. The Avia says you should set the levels with the meter to the + side of the meter as it is more accurate than the - readings.
  16. Well duh!!!!I didn't even notice that till just now.I need help
  17. Here is what I do and get good results. It is also what the guys on the Avia AV calibration dvd say. Set the meter;Weighting C,response slow. They say this about holding the meter;in your seating position hold the meter at arms length out away from you,ear level, mic pointed to the ceiling. I point mine up,but hold it at ear level where my head would be sitting center of the screen, know what I mean? Set the range to 70 or 80(what ever you feel good with)tell everyone around to be quiet.Whith the first tone of one of the mains set the volume so the meter will read above the level the meter is set oat.Say 72 or 82.The meter is more accurate above the range set at. Set all the levels to that setting with your reciever. Even the sub level, don't change the volume control on the reciever when setting the sub. The sub will not show a steady reading, but mine usually is just a bit higher than the rest of the other levels.Maybe a dB.The meter will vary when the sub level is being set.All the ones I've done do,yours might not.Anyway you will see what I mean. During play back(movie)I might sometimes bump the center up a dB or 2.That's just a difference of the ways they are mixed. Give that a try.It has worked for me for the last 6 years or so,even before the Avia disc came out. I'm sure others might have a slight variation of what I've tried to explain. I have done several professional HT installs with excellent results doing just what I have explained. Any others out there with their ideas? The only thing I should add is this;try the way I explained first about where the meter should be.At arms lengh in front of you,you might be happier with that way as it will set you surround levels a bit higher than having it where your head would be.I just don't like drawing attention to the surrounds. They should just blend in,not be louder than the rest. Give it a try.
  18. My Denon 3801 has a very tiny bit of hiss w/Klipschorns.But you have to get right up to the tweeter to hear it.In Direct mode it's gone. It's only there in all the DSP modes, but not enough to notice even at loud levels. Sony would work well with a speaker with say an spl of 90 and below.Klipsch is so efficent,it brings out the build quality in different equipment. Please now that I'm not bad mouthing Sony,I love my DVP-C650D dvd.I have always liked Denon,so I stick with it. You might have a problem with the one you have,if you can exchange it,try to.Or try another brand. 19. I bought my Dishnetwork 4700 sat reciever with Dolby digital out before any channels had it.Only one or two on PPV had it.I'm now wanting the 501 with it's 30 something hour recording ability to replace the 4700 because it will record 5.1.Right now on Dish there are more PPV and Starz E&W,Show E&W are in 5.1(when available). Don't know what's on Direct, but maybe the same channels and many PPV. So I want to spend $350 on a reciever I don't need and put the other in my bedroom HT to add 5.1 sat.to it. To answer your question;yes to me it is. I know a simple yes or no would have done, but I'm not simple(LOL) ------------------ Main HT:'77 Klipschorns w/ALKs, '75 Heresy center, modified with,K-Horn sqauwker & AA network. 20. Wolfram, were you asking about the same K-Horns in your first post or different ones from the 1973s?Or was that a type O?The "G" is 1968.Just wondering, that's all.

  22. TTK,the A+B would be from the same amp.It would just see it as a 4ohm load.Would work, but why?Their idea is to use 2 for music and/or 2 for movies. But you knew that. You could use an other amp from the pre-outs,but you couldn't switch between them.
  23. Well Matt is still working on his site, check it out.He says it will preview new songs shortly. www.mattwhatley.com
  24. I spend so much time on the other boards and forums that I got booted off one for not being there enough. And I thought I spent time there I like this place a lot, though I need to spend time with my wife and Klipschorns a bit more Jim if you figure out that other thing you were talking about,I don't want to know how you did it,OK? 25. The KSB 1.1's would work, but RS-3's would be better.I had IW-150's for rear centers till I found another set of KSP-S6's. To be honest,I might have been happier with direct radiating speakers such as the in walls. They gave me a better impression of realism.Try the 1.1's if you have them,if you don't,they don't cost much now. I'd love to try 4 full range speakers in the back half, but room and pocket book say no.4 Heresy's would do me. As you did, start small and work up.Get the rat shack meter,it's a most. The Haunting in DTS 6.1 is great as is Gladiator. By the way, when you do get the rears, set the"DTS-ES/6.1 SOURCE AUTO"to off.Trust me it will auto detect any 6.1 "Discret"source. I never watch any dvd with the rears off.Always on 6.1 and regular pro logic material is in DTS NEO:6 C,try music in NEO:6 M. Read pages 62 through 65 and page 68 explains the DTS stuff,if you haven't. The 3801 is a very nice piece,I'm very happy with mine and have installed 3 others for people. The manual isn't as bad as it looks once you mess with the unit some and get used to it. ------------------ Main HT:'77 Klipschorns w/ALKs, '75 Heresy center, modified with,K-Horn sqauwker & AA network.
