  1. Touchy touchy. I didnt mean to offend.
  2. Yes the lp is better than the CD. The Honeysucle Rose track is awsome.
  3. Ever here of using a battery on a PASSIVE crossover?
  4. djk....Thank you for the clarification. I just got the new full line catalog from JBL. ON the Application Engineering Series. THey talk about CMCD CONE MIDRANGE COMPRESSION DRIVERS. It seems thatit is more than a simple displacement plug. The picture is postage stamp size. Cross section drawing too small. This topoligy is supposed to improve phase coherency in the midrange & improve clarity. Nothing shows up on their pro line site. AT the moment I cant get further details.
  5. Refer to Klipsch TECHNICAL forum for K77 tweeter insight & details.
  6. No no no i,m not trying to cover a stadium. Just my living room. A westlake style or TAD TH-4001, or a large Smith multi septa with cut off down to 240 hz lashed to the newer drivers can do it. UP to 15k easily. Adding a tweet like TAD 703 will take you out to 40k hz Just dont pour the power to it. Most spec sheets are conservetive. For good reason. For auditorium use 800 hz or HIGHER would be safer. Ive used a JBL 2450,/475, TAD 4001, etc from 400 to 10k & xover,d to a tweeter of various types. With my Klipsch bass units & horns & drivers I cant exceed 90 degrees anyway. So where do I BEAM? Not in this room. NO lobeing detected. If your using less than a watt dont worry. DO you know how LOUD a WATT is in a living room with the efficiency of these horns? I would,nt want to stay in that room very long.
  7. If you xover from 400 hz to 5000 hz or 6000 hz your fine. But you can go higher with some driver horn combinations.
  8. Bell KLIPSCH a great speaker @ still in production. I too have met & and talked with him when he,d come up to St Louis. And stay,d with friends. Paul Karrenbroch, George Ashworth etc All gone now. Those also were my audio HAPPY times. They were the crazy rat packs of south St.Louis.
  9. The woofer might be sagging slightly. Rotate woofer 180 degrees. This should be done a few times in the life of a woofer.
  10. DeanG ...My geritol supply is fine. I just feel you threw away perfictly good amps. @ might be sorry later. A better up grade in speakers shows your system off better. What happend to your dream of JBL 2445, 2225, in a new system? Wont this push back time table in this direction? Im not pushing JBL. Nothing can replace my K-horns (all of them). My amps are 20 yrs old @ will set the standard for newer ones to test agenst. Its like your first kiss although not great but all others will be compared. I just seen this happen few months ago A guy with Quicksilvers just crawled back to his first love 2 WATT SET. Always hold on to early units for awhile They may prove to be most loyal.

    Yikes

It,s better than pushing a shopping cart in the back alleys of NY.
  12. The BOSE tunneling & porting is a LABYRINTH & was in STROMBERG-CARLSON radios back in 1936. Now I wonder where ol BOSE got his Idea?
  13. Deang...What a piece of GLASS TRASH, send them to me Ill make boat anchers out of them.
  14. djk....SL is a pretty rough town. they ran me out on a rail 10 yrs ago. IT was/ is a pretty classy neighborhood but we,d still shake down UP delivery men for extra cash. How do you think I can afford JBL drivers? ALLEY CAT still has,nt got his act together. Still futsing around with xovers. It was my Idea to go 2" throat. YOU get 4 times radiating area. This goes back to Klipsch/ Ashworth And was the final split between the two on early mid horn work. The Smith horn is one of the results. JBL 2390 & Westlakes come close. But Alley was not convinced. I suggested 401 modification. Several others have done the same. Ive gone the Ashworth direction with wood,n septa ala TAD type horns. A lot of Pacific Rim country,s have made these FOSTEX etc. But back to K77 tweet that should be upgraded or go two way starting with 2" driver ( as in JUBALEE) Alot of the newer drivers can now go from 500HZ to 18000HZ. JBL 475/2450SL, TAD 4002 & others. The story that the Jubilee Traktrix horn is holding things up for the Jubille is balony.
  15. The EV T35 strip chart was done many years ago. The tests were done in a ANECHOIC chamber using a calabrated mic & a frequency plot recorder. At the moment I have no way of getting it on this forum. djk how did you ever 'LINK" up with that ALLEY CAT in OK. ? Maybe you two can get that strip chart on to this thread. My copier is not working. The K77 & T35 are not my tweeter of choice. For what KLIPSH LLC is charging for KLIPSCHORNS they should go to a better unit like the TAD ET-703 flat from 5000 HZ to 45000 HZ . The K77 is a tired old tweeter that should go into retirement. KLIPSCH LLC keeps reserecting it out of its grave in its many forms. AT least they could up grade the diaphram/ voice coil. The horn portion is still viable but the phase plug & diaphram could be alot better. KLIPSCH LLC knows this but they want you to buy into the " heritage" sound. For OL times sake. Dont get me started on the K55x thats a different matter BUT............... A traktrix 402 mid horn? could be designed. And they keep futzing with Xover?
  16. Mailwasher? Womanwasher. What did John Wayne say? wash that women & bring her to my cabin. I think you,d need a fire hose. All kidding aside E mail fraud is getting worse.
  17. I understand MCINTOSH has joind with MARANTZ & DENNON as a new group. This will be interesting.
  18. Also PORNO from Russia Worms in on some E mail sites. Have you seen some of these Russion woman YIKES" I think they are women. Nothing you can do except DELETE, DELETE.
  19. Ive got one pair that barely makes it to 17-K HZ down -4db at 17 K Another pair that takes a nose dive at 10-K hz & is down 20db at 17-K HZ THEY are not consistent. Probably phenolic thicker on one set.
  20. Correction I mean JBL 2482 driver.
  21. The pin centering positions are different on the diaphram mounting ring of 2483. & will not seat. RADIAN makes a special aluminum diaphram pin compatible unit. (model 1282) It has greater output above 5-K HZ.
