  1. I understood the joke. Just making one in return. (I cannot seem to get the emoticons to work.)
  2. As for the tube amp, Mike's Peach looks really nice..if only I could get him down to $350. What do you say Mike?
  3. No, $450 total. Thought I would save someone the hassle of the negotiating process.(Guess it will take some time to get my sense of humor). Really, $450 for both, together, total. One is really not going to do me any good without the other as I am going to buy a tube preamp
  4. I just remembered that I have a Phase Linear 5100 tuner somewhere in the house if anyone is interested I will dig it out and take a picture.
  5. FS: Phase Linear Amp and Phase Linear 4000 preamp. I am currently using the 4000 with Alex's B&K amp. The 400 Amp works and has really not been used in three or more years, except to test it today. Both are Model II. The preamp and the amp have some pitting on the face plates, almost as if someone had attached a ground clamp to them with current at some point. I am asking $1,000 for both of them (but will take $450)plus shipping. The 400 is fairly heavy so it will not be cheap to ship. LET THE FLAME LINEAR JOKES BEGIN!!!!!
  6. Beeker, Based on what you are telling me, I guess I will pass on the V70's. I just do not know enough to spend that kind of money on an unknown amp. If it was being sold by someone on the Forum I would feel more comfortable. Thank you so much for your advice. CECAA850, It will be interesting to see the cost of the upgrades, USNRET said he may post that info once he gets it.
  7. CECAA850, Thanks. I have looked at his site. I know that Joe is happy with his SE 84. I really have not seen any other posts about Justin's other amps. I just want to make sure I get an amp and preamp I will not want to switch out in 6 months. Also, I am not sure whether I should first look for a tube pre-amp and use my B&K until I find the proper tube amp. I was a little too slow and USNRET got Craig's pre-amp a few minutes before I wrote. I spent some time on the phone with VAC today. They are very friendly and helpful. They think the V70 would be a good choice.
  8. Shu, I am glad to see someone else uses charcoal rather than propane. I could never appreciate non-charcoal grills. I know they are much more convenient but it is just not the same. I have the same Weber grill and I love it.
  9. The only reason Hofy is selling these is that he has now perfected the Cornwall/F-7 duct tape mounting system. Pictures to follow.
  10. There is a nicer pair of Cornwalls (II's I think) in the Syracuse area. http://syracuse.craigslist.org/ele/4349121285.html I went to look at these a few weeks ago. The only real defect in the cabs is on the right speaker (top left front). In person it does not look as bad as in the picture (a little veneer damage). The seller (Nick) is a nice guy who has an amazing collection of Klipsch (Khorns and Belles both in like new condition) and some Fortes along with others which I did not see. He is asking $575.
  11. OK. He says they are V70's built around 1998, but I cannot find even one reference to a V70, only the V100. They are about 75 watts/channel. He wants $3,000. Seems like a nice guy and knowledgeable about audio equipment. I think I will call VAC today and see if I can get more information. There are also a set of McIntosh 75's which have just been gone through by a certified Mac tech on Craigslist for $3,200.
  12. By the way Vindeville, Watertown, N.Y. ain't got nothin on Northern Maine. Look at the pictures of the snow last weekend that I posted earlier in this thread. All I could think of while driving the last 30 miles was the old Frank Zappa song, "Don't eat yellow snow."
  13. Hi Vindeville, Your Cornscalas will always have a place in my heart. As you can tell, I am completely out of control. Feel free to stop by if you are in Ithaca. Just PM me and I will give you directions. Earl
  14. You guys are lucky. In New York (at least in my county) it takes 6 months to get a pistol permit and then they restrict it to "hunting and target practice only." When I lived in Pennsylvania it took me ten minutes to get a full concealed carry permit.
  15. Sir? Who you callin' "sir?" Congratulations.
  16. Got what? Does it require a doctor's visit?
  17. Thanks Speakerfritz, I would like some tube amps and a tube preamp. USNRET got to yesterdays deal before me. Oh, we'll
  18. Willing to give 5:1 odds they will be gone by 8pm!
  19. Thanks Beeker. He its calling tonight. I'll let you know how it goes.
  20. Anyone have any advice? Price, quality?
  21. Thanks MikeTN and Beeker! There are a pair for sale on Craigslist. The owner is being very coy about setting a price. He will only say that the "current" model goes for 10k. Any thoughts about these mono blocks and what a "fair" price would be? As I am currently completely out of control, so I need some boundaries. I do love those Khorns though! Thanks, Earl
