  1. These are the end of the road for me too. I am sure I can spend more money and find a way to something better than the S MWM's and the 402's but quite frankly I am not interested. My next efforts will all be in the area of improving the files I listen to. Just for giggles I have some speaker build projects with a set of Chorus I parts and I am going to make a set of 1" baltic birch bass bins like the KPT-456's for future use. I may not have this much space forever so I want something in hand I can listen to if that space loss happens and the 456 bass bins and a set of 402's would be admirable replacements for the big boys. I read about TAD's and special electronics but right now I am unmoved by any of it. Yes I have been exposed to revelations along the way that only hearing in person can make like these 402's have been and the MCM 1900's have been and as far as that goes the KPT-456's. I don't need more or better to make me happy.
  2. They collect the chronically offended out there for some reason. I think it has to do with all the fault lines. The Earth Mother as a living being when fractured affects all those sensitive people and they too become fractured and the closer you get to San Andreas the weirder they get. I notice Memphis and St Louis are the same way and they are over the New Madrid fault line. 😉
  3. OK seriously you all censored this? PC has run amuck in this world.
  4. Yes the only way to live. My neighbors shoot guns all the time and I shoot and play music and we don't get huffy about what each of us is doing. I hope I never have to live in a city or town again and I pity those who do have to live there. I have respectful neighbors and not yard and sound police for neighbors.
  5. ++ on the don't aggravate easily. It is impossible to keep this place all the time. Duratex has a neutral white tintable base and you can buy it from the makers in Fl who reportedly will tint it according to tint numbers from other paint makers for you or you can find a local paint store to do it. Thought about doing the sides in 1" too and have enough to do so. 18mm is 64 lbs per sheet and 25mm is 88lbs per sheet. This single bin would be crowding the weight of the traditional double MWM bin if I do that. There would be no resonance for sure if I do go that way. I am also going to make carts for these to sit on so I can roll them around. Who knows maybe if there is a void below the cabinet too it just might help lower the bass since it is in essence next to another wall where ever it goes. Looks like raw birch topcoated with polyurethane. I happen to really like the way Baltic looks when so treated. In the shop though when we get into summer heat and humidity and things can get moldy and always dusty I want Duratex. Duratex will cover screw heads for me too since I intend to screw this all together and not use an air nailer.
  6. Noticed that this was supposed to be directed at Dtel not you CECAA850
  7. Ice is bad news. Back in 1995 we had an ice storm here. Some people nearby were without power for almost a month. We were lucky and had our power in six or seven days. It started out looking pretty and then the trees started breaking apart. Last one that fell on my house punched a hole through the roof. A wood stove is a great backup to have.
  8. Ah, no it means Super MWM as in down to probably 27hz. You will see a set in Hope this year. Do you have your veneer source lined up?
  9. Here is another one where you can see the wavy banding. Very intense colors on this one and it was the piece i figured out how to take these pictures on.
  10. Here is a piece of Iris Agate I dug in Tennessee and is some of the best in the world. It happens when there are roughly 10,000 lines of deposit per inch and up and when this happens it acts like a diffraction grating. When you move it up and down in front of your light source you see the colors change. The area of color is roughly 1.5" tall and 2.5" wide. The very best Iris under magnification is wavy and looks just like the groove on an LP record.
  11. When you are overcome with S MWM lust remember you can veneer them. I am thinking of using a medium brown tinted Duratex on these. Did a set of KG4's some time ago and they looked good. I figure it will do just as well on the big boys and hide the dust accumulating on them in my shop. I am going with 1inch baltic for the top and bottom and that size seems like twice the weight of the 3/4 inch.
  12. I'm thinking after you hear the S MWM's you might have to wade in a bit deeper. The pool does get deeper you know.
  13. OK OK at least I listen and I am trainable😊 That 1132 is just fine for this and the current production version of the 942 uses this driver. I can see the potential here and have a Xilica xp3060 and two Crown xli800's ready to go.
  14. So today I decided I could not wait any more to hear these 402's you all brag about. Put some 1132 drivers on there and put them on top of the MWM bins and used the existing mid output on the MCM crossover. The difference was NOT subtle and I am in awe of the increased definition these have. I can only imagine what it will all sound like once the SMWM is complete and all the components are dialed in right. These 402's kind of overwhelm the MWM's in this configuration which surprised me.
  15. Top of the day to you OD and your 100 page congratulations will be in order today I think.👏
  16. It will need those Audiogon Super High Definition Beeswax impregnated fuses too. https://www.audiogon.com/listings/lis9bg7g-beeswax-audiophile-fuses-audio-magic-the-best-fuse-on-the-market-5-worldwide-tweaks
  17. A perfect definition of specificity. I think it is but I am not certain.
  18. This. By the way OD what is a "sold-state amplifier"? I need more specificity on this please.😁
  19. Priceless!! Another great morning and here we are again with OD the Audio Expert regaling us with words of wisdom. Ninja class buzz word salad mixed to hopefully sound good to beginners splashed with a dash of pontification dressing as the Oracle of Audio deigns to educate the knuckle draggers. Specificity...... YES he said that HAHAHA! How many days of MDF now OD?🤣 This is not a serious thread it is entertainment for OD. Treat it as such and be amused. Hmmm, so we are not talking about cheapo amps today I take it? You are a hoot OD and there is not one smug bone of superiority in your body.
  20. Well the screw holes would be centered and it would be no problem to just flip it 180 degrees.
  21. So you think the 6" x6" base screwed to the bottom I mention is too big?
  22. Well that will depend on what is needed to make the stand stable. I am thinking 6" x 6". No sense in making something to easily toppled.
  23. OK question on these. This is just a piece of wood 1.5" thick and will not stand without support. Is a simple rectangular base say 6" deep OK? Screwed to the bottom and of the same wood.
