  1. What he's done, I think, is make a lot of people believe Klipsch cares about it's Heritage line. Thanks JimG. Klipsch out.
  2. OK T & B(alias Totoed and Bozoed), Are you going to tell us what all the dials do? I can't tell anything from the photo. Klipsch out.
  3. Great news! For those who did not read this response provided in another thread. quote: In response to jazman, Heritage products will be back very soon. The Klipschorn, LaScala and Belle are finished and targeted for mid-April production. I really can't divulge any more details than that right now. Keep an eye on our web site as details will be posted in the April version of the site. I hope this answers many doubts of renewed Heritage production. Klipsch out.
  4. Wes, Stimlation for the eyes and ears. The Laurel IIX mono blocks reinforces the Art in Audio. Beautifully formed Brass, Iron, Wood and Glass. Looking good! Klipsch out.
  5. NOS, The seller, Jobman, is a member of this Forum. Why don't you just write to him direct about the Heresys? Klipsch out.
  6. When I tried to view the add, not to buy, just look, here's what I got; "We are sorry. This ad is no longer available" Prana-Bindu, I hope you were the one. Klipsch out.
  7. Mobile, Thanks again for your insight. I'll complete reading the review tonight. I intend to have these Moondogs a long time and the more 2A3 knowledge I aquire, the better off I will be. Klipsch out
  8. Mobile, Have you had the opportunity to hear this tube? I did find comments by Steven R. Rochlin on the tube during a review of a Moth Audio amplifier, the si2A3. You can get there from the C37 Tubes picture gallery after going to their site; C37 Accustics The $445 price tag per pair is in another universe than the one I normally live in, but I did see a pair go for about $200 on ebay. Are they worth the ducats. Klipsch out.
  9. Jim, Thanks for taking the time to respond. I certainly understand the requirement to address the mass market of consumers. When it come to the Heritage line, I think the mass market philosphy is not as appropriate, but that's just my humble opinion. So, the next inevitable question is .............. What is the status of resuming Heritage production? I'd like to know that one day, when I get to build my new home, I can order a new pair of Belles or Khorns. I currently own a pair of 1974 Belles, 1983 Cornwalls, and 1982 Heresys. Non Heritage speakers also live within my household but mostly for HT uses. I've told my 13 yr old son to never sell the Heritage speakers unless the threat of starvation exist. So, What's Up? Inquiring minds want to know! Klipsch out.
  10. Wes, I'm not bored! Tell me more! Brings back to mind what I have experienced and I'm still experiencing with my 2A3 Moondogs. It's pure delight to listen to the music each and every day and night. Can you tell the honeymoon is not over with the Moondogs, and I don't expect it to anytime soon. So tell me More............ Mobile, I'm thankful it did not require much to convince me to first discover what 14 wpc PP could do. I never worried about what 3.5 wpc could do when dealing with the 104db efficiency of the Belles. I don't think many could sit down in my listening area and have a clue that their experience was being presented by the 3.5 wpc of the 2A3 Moondogs. One day, more will believe. Klipsch out.
  11. Mobile, Thanks for mentioning the subject of tubes and Klipsch speakers. A saleman at a very high end tube shop in Walnut Creek, CA recently related a story to me that many years ago, when they carried Klipsch speakers, Paul Klipsch himself showed up with one of his Sales Managers and proceeded to explain to the younger man how Klipsch speakers were designed to perform very well with the tube products sold within that store and that that was how the Kilpsch, now Heritage, line of speakers should be demoed to customers. What say ye Klipsch rep? Klipsch out.
  12. Wes, I understand your enthusiasm. It rekindles your desire to listen to music everyday, as much time as posssible, and not get fired. BTW, Wright also makes the WPL20 which has a phono stage. Don't forget to connect the Laurels to your Belles. Klipsch out.
  13. mobile, I'm not saying one is better than the other at this point. The interconnect change has helped the Rega presentation and I'm going to spend time listening to it, then spend a some time listening to the Tjoeb and repeat the process. I intend to keep both, just as I intend to keep the Cornwalls and Belles, Eico and Moondogs. Unlike marriage, I can have several wonderful audio mistresses(systems) to appreciate and enjoy. Each will have their own unique charms. Each will live within my household for many years to come. After the next thirty days or so, I should have more definite impressions of how they compare and which set of speakers will get which CD player. Klipsch out.
  14. Yeah, yeah, busted again. From what I can tell so far, better interconnects DO make a difference when it comes to this unit. I tried the stock Rega shipping interonnects first. When I took time to cruise the owners manual I found this statement. INTERCONNECTS An interconnect is included with you Planet CD player, which provides wholly satisfactory performance. Audiophiles may wish to upgrade to a more exotic interconnect at a later stage, such as..... An old computer software saying is appropriate here. "When all else fails, read the documentation!" Klipsch out.
  15. Clipped, (alias laurelled and hardied) I've been listening to my Cornwalls for two weeks now and can't say I've had the "harsh" sound experience. I have had the volume UP. Severals factors are in play. 1. I play mostly Jazz from the late fifties to present. 2. I've only used tube amplification with the Cornwalls. Unlike when I first connected my Belles to SS amplification, and signed into this Forum not long after, trying to figure out what I needed to do to get the sound from them I knew was possible. That's what started my Bi-wire post and eventually my tube journey. The HF81 let me know how good the Belles can sound. It's (the HF81) doing the same for the Cornwalls. I am very, very pleased with the Cornwalls and their sound. Tomorrow I'll break out some BB King, Bobby Bland, and some Motown recordings, connect the Cornwalls to the Moondogs and turntable. Ooops! Here's the need for that second TT so I would not have to disconnect from the HF81 to do this listening check. (I must remember to buy that $1 Super Lotto ticket!) Don't forget to give notice of the next regular or irregular meeting of the Healdsburg Hill Gang with seminars by Prof Mdeneen. I'd like to make the drive and get together with you folks sometime in the future. Klipsch out.
  16. Mobile, Do you think you could squeeze an Alfa Romeo GTA in your hold baggage on the trip back for me????????? Klipsch out.
  17. mike stehr, Check your email. This is the best place to start other than mobile's page. The Eico page Wes, I've been driving the Cornwalls with the HF81 and it's great listening. The Mullards are not a major difference to the Brimars but do seem to sound warmer. I'll have to drive the Belles again with the HF81 to get a better feel for the subtle changes. It can't get much better than having the Eico full of Mullards and the Moondogs to drive your Heritage Klipsch. Klipsch out. This message has been edited by jazman on 03-04-2002 at 09:20 PM
  18. Chris, Wes, All Chis, I don't think the price you paid was too much when you consider the Mullards that are included with the package. Mullard EZ81/6CA4s, Mullard 6BQ5s, along with the Mullard 12AX7s and 12AU7s are worth more than the price you paid. Just check out the prices for those tubes on the Tube World Inc. site. Believe it or not, you did well and the HF81 should sound absolutely fantastic. My HF81 has all NOS Mullard valves and anyone would have a hard tme getting me to give it up. Congratulations, and you should give it a spin with your Khorns just to know how nice a treat you are giving your brother. Based on what you've stated, he's worth it. I have a 13 yr old son whom I've always made a point to remind him to not wait until Christmas to give gifts and treat people well. Consider everyday we're alive as Christmas and treat everyone you love accordingly. Wes, As you can tell from the text above, I rolled in the Mullard EZ81s to the HF81. Congratulations to you also on the purchase of the Laurels. I knew it wouldn't be long before you had a Welborne offering within your fold. It's comforting knowing others are as addicted to music as I am, no matter what their musical preferences may be. Your preamp is just around the corner or down the road a bit, but not very far away. I found that once you start the ball rolling, you will get to the end of the road with everything you need. Mike Stehr, If you want to DIY your way, some months ago I had picked up a pair of Eico HF12 mono amps that are each half of a HF81. I was able to get them working by simply removing not working tubes and inserting ones that do. Needless to say I have not done anything other than connect them to speakers and a preamp to make sure they work. If you're interested let me know and I'll let you know what I paid. We can always work something out as when you actually pay. Maybe you can check with Mobile to see if he thinks it's worth your time to improve these, but the person I bought my HF81 prefers using the 2 HF12s with a Foreplay pre to drive his Heresys, so I had to see for myself.(I also have a pair of Heresys.) I'm making the offer because one person should not hog the Eico wealth. Klipsch out. This message has been edited by jazman on 03-04-2002 at 04:59 PM
  19. The Cary SLP90L has worked out fine for me. The L model does not have a phono section but does have an outboard power supply, has the factory oil cap upgrade and recent factory service. I'm using Mullard NOS in all sockets, EZ81/6CA4s and 12AU7s. No hum problems. One day I will pull it off line and just use my phono preamp to test if audio color is added by the Cary. One of the reasons I decided to purchase this unit is the large supply of NOS tubes to stock this preamp that I have become familiar with as a result of the Eico HF81 I purchased and use. Klipsch out
  20. HornEd, quote: I will be building a new music room .......... What a way to go! Starting with a clean sheet of paper for a music room and a pair of Khorns. You've got my attention! Keep us informed. Klipsch out.
  21. Fini, You might want to consider the Grado ZTE+1. It's not very much and generally considered to be very very good for the $30 or so you pay for it. Sounds like you've got some undercover happenings (what the wife doesn't know, won't hurt) going on in the "Bat Cave"? Mike L, Is your new Shure "in the house"? No more hum? Klipsch out
  22. Tim, I will ditto the comments from Wes. I started with Telsa's, tried Ei's, which were also good. Fortunately the HF81 sounds good with most things you throw at it, but best with NOS. I'm currently using Mullard EL84's. You're in for a treat. Klipsch out.
  23. Wes, My HT system is loads of fun, and my son and I watched a movie together last night, but I listen to music more than I watch movies. That's why I had to do one or two dedicated 2 channel music only systems. I had decided I CAN live without owning a set of Khorns. Belles or Cornwalls are not exactly slumming when it comes to speakers, so I put some of my money in the SET arena with the purchase of the Moondogs. That's my tradeoff. I may even one day add the third channel to one of those system. At this point however, I look forward to hearing music every day. The HF81 was the beginning. Your toughest decision will be which SET amp to purchase and whether the Belles or Cornwalls get the living room nod. Personnaly, I would get the amplification resolved first and let that drive a preamp selection that mates well with it, and your needs, for just that system. Keep me updated, even shoot me an eamil once in a while. I'll let you know when I roll the Mullard EZ81/6CA4s in. Klipsch out.
  24. gyoko, Give me a break, P-L-E-A-S-E! I suspect imitation is the highest form of flattery. Sounds like this company copied pretty much from a '70s Klipsch Loudspeaker Systems booklet. Klipsch already had the answer to a center channel for the Khorns with the Cornwall or Belles, even a Heresy. In fact, I have one of the booklets from the original owner of my Belles, with two Khorns and a Cornwall as center on the cover. All you had to do was purchase the Klipsch speaker designed for the task. They even ripped off the "floor as optical mirror" illustration used by Klipsch to describe how the Klipschorn handles 32-foot wave lengths. BTW, the Patent Notice can also be found on the last page of that booklet. To each his own! Klipsch out. This message has been edited by jazman on 02-25-2002 at 03:28 PM
  25. Jobman, quote: We can still listen to my 2 Monarchy SM70's through my Khorns! You've still got a winner with the SM70's. I'm looking forward to hearing your Khorns. Klipsch out
