  1. That's what I meant when I said hard to push. The lower wattage powered amps, depending on them may not match well with those. Again, there are several on here who have them and could tell you better than I can. I've never even heard them, but all the posts I've seen on them is they are great speakers, but power hungry. I infer power hungry as needing a good 10-15 watts with a SEP or PP. Maybe even more.
  2. It looks like you are missing the counterweight on the table. If so let me know I have an extra one.
  3. If I may recommend a few cartridges for the table, the Stanton 681EEE with a Jico D6800EEE Shibata is a nice cartridge for that table as is an Ortofon VMS20E MKII. Then take the VMS and get the Jico upgraded VMS 30E MKII stylus. Both cartridges are MM (moving iron). I also use a Stanton 881S cartridge either stock with a D81S,D81, or D81E stylus and Jico D81 Shibata. Ortofon OM30 or OM40, Shure V-15 III with the VN35E stylus,if none are available on the stylus, the Ed Saunders VN35E stylus is good. ADC is also nice on the table. Keep an update on the table.
  4. Did you talk to Bill at fixmydual?
  5. Bob, maybe change your thread to include "for my CF-3's". That will in my opinion get the attention of owners of them.
  6. Bob, I'd speak with a few on here who have the CF-3. I am not familiar with them, but I thought I read they are hard to push with a SET amp. Maybe a PP or SEP? Justinweber is also someone I'd contact as well.
  7. Forgot to mention, the table can be used, fully automatic, semi automatic, and manual. If the platter turns and it has the cartridge, hook it up and try it out. You can plug in RCA plugs right on it as well. I upgraded my cables as well. You're more than welcome to PM me if you have questions as I have this and a Dual 701, and have used a few other Duals.
  8. log onto fixmydual.com, ask for Bill. Send it to him and it will run about $200.00 ish for a total restoration. Restored Dual 1229's run anywhere from $350-$700.00. A plinth for this will run between $25.00-50.00 for an original, and a custom from $90.00-250.00. That is an idler wheel and they can replace it or just sand it to make it supple again. The grease is not as hard as it seems either. I'd keep it if I were you. If you want to get rid of it,let me know. This is my 1229 redone in 2 plinths I did.
  9. If they do, I need to bring my set up out to my garage. My 2 10'ers are also hanging from the ceiling
  10. All this time I thought it was you posting, now I see who the real culprits are.
  11. I have a very corny saying I have always liked and has helped me in times of need. "Don't focus on the 90% of things you can't control, instead, focus on the 10% you can". In your situation, I would use this as an opportunity to learn everything I can on this issue and how to go about prosthetic limbs if in fact that is what is needed. There have been so many different ways with developments in the past few years that have helped others in the same situation and hopefully they can help yours.

Jason and Craig are not the same person, trust me on that. No, they are not the same person.

I will say, there are people here that I value their opinion on that some may look at as being harsh. Dean for one, if he can make a product that most on here like, and rub some the wrong way and have debates as he does, to me that's a plus to the forum. I have not done business with Dean either. His alter ego to me is Bob Crites, very laid back and easily accessible. Not a knock to Dean either. But having those 2 on here as well as some of the others in their lines gives us access to some of the better products out there. Same as Craig or Toolshed Amps, being more towards Dean in my opinion where they are in your face more, and then Maynard on Bob Crites side. All of them bring something to the forum that helps everyone. And gives us access to their products as well as the other amp builders. By having them and their differing opinions we get the better end of the stick at the end of the day. I will say outside of the forum, Jason is one of the nicest people you can meet and have work with you when needing help. I have not met him in person, but have spoken to him as I have to several others on here, and even the abrasive posters on here are different on the phone than behind a keyboard.

Cindy no longer posts, but is/was the_sloth, xxxjpmxxx, who did in my opinion give valuable information in the tubes section. Not to keep beating a dead horse, but Cindy, xxxjpmxxx was one of the people who may have been coarse, but did it more in a way to call out people who were not ready to share their information with others in the same industry. Jason was also not in conformity on the TOS of the Klipsch forums when it came to personal matters behind closed doors, which we also spoke of. I agree with the TOS, but also felt that there should be some leeway on private PM's. I am however in the minority, and unless pushed would follow the same TOS. I don't agree on some of the verbiage he used, but did back his right to stick up for himself.

I say have fun with it then.
  18. That sound stage when he puts on the Aphex is out of this world to me. He has another set of tweeters now that are in a big paper towel roller type thing. They are still behind the horns. I also bought the Aphex after hearing his and crawling home with my tail between my legs with my 2 channel set up.
  19. what kind of cartridge are you looking to install that you need that much weight?

That's as about as white trash as me when I urinated on my bosses desk while at Nabisco in 1990 for being fired due to me being injured. They had wanted a prior shop steward back, and I was the low man on the totem pole in the union for this job,so they came up with some BS to get rid of me while I was hurt. As bad as what Mark threatened, and as bad as it is,it made me chuckle a little bit.
  21. He still has those Altecs and they sound amazing! He has them set up quad amped with the external crossovers and the horn loaded low sub, and 2 horn loaded mid subs. Everything is through tubes and an Aphex Aural Exciter. I was there about 2 months ago. jaw dropping to say the least. He's very knowledgeable. Did he have them set up with tubes as well when you were there? I'm in Fords,so literally on the Edison border.
  22. My "mancave" is still under the process of getting fixed some with a leaky roof, and I am upgrading my 84" screen to a 110". My room measurements are 14' wide x 24' long x 8' high.Still have the smoked mirrors and 70's carpeting in it with wood paneling, but for me for now it will do.
  23. You have someone right here in our yard. KABUSA.COM Ask for Kevin, he restores, mods, and does everything Technics and is the go to guy for the 1200. His place is in Plainfield.

Dean, Mark also enjoyed setting up the maze to see how the rats would run through it.... roger So true. You could see it coming from a mile away, and they'd still take the bait. Within my 1st two posts with him I got this, then when I did take a breath, step back and watch how he operated, I just laughed at not only myself, but at how he did things. Say enough for you to come back for more, but not too much for you to leave. I am by no means as book educated as some on here, and don't have the same writing abilities, but this much I could understand.
  25. He does have a way with words, that much I can say. I wonder if he ever lost a debate against himself?
