  1. I did some quick research and found out it is better to keep all speakers to small for better performance and sound within there spectrum. Also give yourself a little more headroom when setting the crossover point (ex. My RP 280 dip to 33hz on paper but I was reading they kinda roll off around 50. So I'd set the crossover at 60-80hz. Let the sub do the heavy work and your speakers do there job even better. ) I used to have them set to large too. But as I read; when you have them set to large they bypass the bass management and even then they can't produce all the sound your forcing them too. Also if you want more power just buy a power amp. I purchased one to take the stress of my receiver and it also gave me a better(warmer) sound while sending more power to mains for music. Just my opinion. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. I have Yamaha RX A1050 AVR and adcom power amp powering mains and surrounds. Klipsch 280 system. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. So even though speakers are large, will they sound better if set to small? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. I know my towers sound warmer with power amp. Brighter with AVR. I like the sound from amp, it's smoother and causes less fAtigue. My center didn't sound good with amp in mono mode. It's really efficient so it doesn't need anything. Sounds good hooked to receiver. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Your better off keeping the L & R together. So you can have same output and same sound. Some amps can make your speakers sound a little warmer or brighter. I have my L & R on my power amp since I used them for music everyday. I also have my surround on amp. So my AVR is powering the center, surround backs and presence. Keeps AVR much cooler. 6. Or anything at that. Keep away from fire/heat. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. No doubt high end stuff might sound better but to pay $8k compared to $2k for just a small, not even night and day difference in sound is not for everyone. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. It wasn't intended as a review. Just wanted to share my experience. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. I've purchased tweeters from Bob without any issues. I do agree the op could of used a different approach on his experience. Just because of the respect many people have towards him. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. I've never had the opportunity to hear these. They look nice! Good luck, they should sell. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  12. Shouldn't matter which ones you use. As long as you keep the little bridges on. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. Wow, what a beautiful beast! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. Select Best Buy's only. I was surprised too. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. That's awesome! I had another experience similar to yours where they try to tell me klipsch speakers weren't up to what they had to offer. It's funny because the demo speakers they had weren't even speakers they sell. He let me listen to a huge pair of BB. I was like ewww change that. I guess that's one of the reasons they don't sell the top of the line klipsch speakers. Wouldn't even be a competition. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. Tell me about it. I know they look nice and have some good parts but it's over kill. Some CD players are also like $5k. Like really, just so you can listen to a cd. I think a good pair a speakers and decent/good equipment can go a long ways. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. I know some people don't like to read long Stories so I tried to keep it simple. The guy who was walking through really try to sell me on the equipment. He also let me compare the sound output of a high end Marantz receiver and a Macintosh processor. Receiver sounded like junk. I think they do it in purpose. Hell, my Yammy sounds as good as there Mac equipment almost. I've never owned other Avr's besides Yamaha so I'm not sure on that. But no doubt Yamaha is worth it. I will eventually add more to my system as budget permits. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. It's good to be able to compare and experience a different set up. Can bring out the flaws in yours or vise versa. I tried to keep story short as possible. Could of kept going quiet a bit though. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. I want to share an experience I had recently. I went to Best Buy and went into their magnolia room. They had Macintosh equipment which is way out of my budget right now but I wanted to hear it up close and personal. First I tried out the 2 channel stereo for music which was really nice and clean( B & W speakers suck, they had other speaker on floor though and they used those) then I tried out the theater room. Also powered by Macintosh. Sounded very clean but lacked something. I couldn't pinpoint it, maybe the speakers just weren't up to par(speakers were behind screen). After having this experience I was able to compare what I heard there, to what I have at home. At home I have the klipsch RP 280 system with ks 525 thx as main surrounds. Powered by a Yamaha RX A1050, Adcom amp to power surrounds and bi-amped front left and right at 180wpc bi wired with canare speaker cable. First of all I listen to music in pure direct without a sub. Just 2 channels. I honestly couldn't hear much of a difference and maybe go as far as to say that my system is more pleasing. In the theater($250k worth)I was also not very impressed. I also think mine almost sounds better(Atmos dsp setting)If I learned anything, it's that the speakers make all the difference. Gotta love my klipsch and Yamaha quality. 20. dang. I still got long ways to go. Im still getting familiar with all these things. Im learning though and applying what I can as I go. Ill keep that bi amping in mind. By XO you mean cross over?
  21. I do feel like it doesn't sound as good at times. So will 2 of these 10" be better than 1 15"? Yes, but here is the only way it will. Adding a second sub will reduce room modes, which means there will be fewer dead spots and hot spots at certain low frequencies. When you say it doesn't sound good, what do you mean? Does the sub-bass disappear when you turn the volume up? Is the bass just not as deep as you want? If so, it's the sub...it's too small. Im using yamaha RX V677. its not much but I'm going to upgrade to yamaha RX A2050 soon. That's a pretty serious machine. It won't take much volume knob for the speakers to pull away from that little sub. Adding a second 110 will do little to remedy that problem. The SW-115 is substantially more sub than the 110. There are many other subs on the market and in the DIY world depending on budget and space. If you need help with that, just say the word... Thanks for the advise. Im actually going to get a yamaha RX A3040. getting a good deal on one. Im also gonna have to upgrade sub since after this conversation I believe its too small. I have to agree and so do my ears. Im just going to sell it and see if I can get the new reference 15" sub. I think 2 will be overkill.. there huge. One more thing. What type of cd player may you recommend. to get the best out of my music. thanks again.
  22. Welcome to the new guys and good to hear things are sounding good. If you are considering passive Bi-amping, it is not superior to just the standard speaker hookup. Now, active Bi-amping is a different beast all together I didn't know there was passive and active bi amping. Whats the difference. By the way I'm looking into getting yamaha Rx A2050 and i read it has bi amp mode.. how does that work..bi amping from same receiver . appreciate some guidance.
  23. I do feel like it doesn't sound as good at times. So will 2 of these 10" be better than 1 15"?
  24. I have the bigger sized speakers that go with the 280f but I still have my 10" sub(sw110) So my question is; Am I forcing it too much? Should I upgrade soon or is it ok. The system is sold with a 15" sub. By the way. Appreciate the input.
