  1. Dave - the type HFB - would that stand for Heresy-Fir-Black? meaning the original finish was black, fir based plywood?
  2. that's awesome! thanks Dave! - mustang guy -> I use them for mostly classic rock - a lot of different artists but mostly all still fall into classic rock I guess. I like a lot of stuff from the 'progressive' stuff by Rush to the high voltage of AC/DC, classic REO Speedwagon, of course Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, etc - stuff like that. the girls like some of the more recent stuff, so it gets a variety of input types. I forgot to add earlier that for my 1st run at home to see how they sound, I added them along with the R28-F's I got last year. all 4 of them sound really good. the 28's seem to add more bass. that may be because the are closer to the wall, and the Heresys are more out in the open with very little behind them, I guess to 'strengthen' the bass. at any rate, the Heresys by themselves have an amazing sound, mids & highs, with tremendous clarity. they are nothing short of fabulous!!!
  3. using my old HK 560 receiver right now. building this out a little at a time. we've got a lot of things going on, with a fair measure of employment insecurity going on too, that includes a possible relocation in the near future. much of that is very undecided. so, until we find out if we'll be moving, and then all the fun of selling our current home, finding & buying the next one, moving & all of that, and then getting a new space setup, hopefully with more room for a better AV center in the living area. once we see how all that plays out, with an updated entertainment center to house the electronics, THEN we can begin considering how we want to go with a new receiver - what kind of AV receiver we want to go with, etc.
  4. thanks for the advice folks. I went to have a look & listen Saturday, and brought them home . feel like I got a great deal on them. I am very happy, and seller seemed happy with our agreed price. she told me several others were interested; one from the Ga. not sure if that guy was driving over or not. I'm guessing he was. wow - quite a ways to come. anyway, I posted more here: https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/164657-new-to-me-heresys/
  5. hello, and thanks for the advice from wvu, jweber, silversport, DizRotus, and for the original referral from CECAA850 from over on this thread https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/164539-300-heresys-in-ms/ I picked these up Saturday and am very happy with them I may have never heard anything like these before in my life - they sound that good! I can remember back in the day, brother of a friend of mine had a pair of Magnepans powered by a Mac tube amp of some kind - what I remember now, they were awesome. but that was so long ago, and so many miles, I don't really remember the sound. anyway, here are the tags of my "new" ones. more pix to follow. (it's been a busy weekend - getting these on Sat for an early Father's Day gift, and then doing more out & about fun yesterday, I'm a bit whooped. but all in all, a very good weekend. got my 1st set of Heritage speakers and they are fabulous!!! btw - as I still have SOOO much to learn, can you guys tell me a little more about these babies of mine? looking at the tag, it says copyright 1980, so I'm thinking that's probably date of manufacture. would that be correct? also - the type HFB - would that stand for Heresy-Fir-Black? meaning the original finish was black? thanks so much!
  6. not even sure what their first use will be. could become 1st pair of external speakers of HT. all I'm using there now are the native TV speakers. they do pretty good. not sure if I can convince the GF to go for them as that. or I may add them either in addition to the R28-F's I have on my 2 ch system, or instead of them. honestly, I don't really know. if they pan out, it just seems like too good a deal to let pass, especially considering my desire to get into the Heritage lineup, and the fact that these are so close to home. on the 2 ch, we usually listen to classic rock. I do like my bass, and at times (not often... not often enough?) do like it loud. and I've read that they might be light in the bass dept. I'm thinking right now, that would be fine, all things above considered. thanks to both of you guys for the advice!
  7. hello all. I'm a noob to Klipsch and would like some help, specifically on this pair of Heresies. I've been a member for a little while and mostly been a lurker & a reader. this pair, judging from previous info & posts above, seems too good to pass up checking out, especially since they are probably right in my backyard relatively speaking. so - what do I need to look & listen for? I've picked up to listen to all the drivers for anything unusual & check condition of the cabinets. they do look ok from the pics online. what else? thanks in advance. and btw - you guys are a very entertaining group. I've spent my share of time reading posts, how-to's & all that. edit: and as of now, they are still available. yay
  8. Klipsch was already purchased by VOXX Corporation (2011). Klipsch continues to make wonderful products and grow! Bruce true. and that's awesome that Voxx has apparently allowed Klipsch to continue to do what they do best - make awesome products and continue to grow the brand & the company/division/whatever and this is the exact point I was trying to make. it seems obvious that Voxx DOES give a sttt about Klipsch - look at the results since 2011. that should be plain to see. but, on the other hand, couldn't someone like a Warren Buffet, or an Apple, Microsoft, etc come in & buy Voxx out? I think they could if they set their mind to it. hopefully that will not happen, but I think that exact play becomes more & more common in the business world today. another example: look at the deal being discussed among Marriott & Starwood. now, in this case, IDK exactly how big these guys are, but I do know they both are major players in their industries. I wouldn't have thought them coming together. another example, in timber - look up Plum Creek Timber & Weyerhaeuser. look what came to pass there. arguably 2 of the biggest players in timber, one taking over the other.
  9. I would say this is very likely a sign of things to come. I say this coming from the middle of a merger/acquisition of my employer by a former competitor in our industry. prior to the blockbuster announcement in Nov 2015, we as employees had thought our company was likely too big to be bought out. but it was not so. many feel our CEO sold us out. while that may not happen, more & more companies are being bought up by others, and as 'they' say, ever man has his price. while Klipsch could hold out for a very long time, it could also be that some deep pocketed suitor comes along and continues to apply the pressure and the cash to make a holdout increasingly hard to resist. just my $.02 worth. ymmv. but yes, it is the way business seems to work these days. the real question is 'how closely will it affect who you work for, or a brand with whom you LOVE doing business with?'
  10. ya, if I didn't have a step-daughter who (even tho she's 23) acts sometimes like she's 12, I wouldn't know anything about it either. and I'm not real excited about seeing it from Redbox or any other color box.
  11. seems like there ought to be recourse thru eBay for crap like that, yanno? that's just wrong. and because no purchase was actually made, you probably cannot leave negative feedback.
  12. oh yes, it certainly can. but the "run as admin" can help get around many of those things. back on topic, just for kicks, I retried the images today & they opened up like a boss. so who knows. operator error? quite possibly.
  13. thanks guys. so yes, busted - I am "at work" wink wink. on a work computer at the office anyway. so yes, could be something in the firewall or something. I just had not noticed any issues viewing any other embedded images - that I recall. DizRotus - heh :-) even tho I may not be missing much, I thought I'd try to see them closer up. not having ANY problems with my eyes, NOTHING at all age related or anything like that. just some of the images look better zoomed in :-) so thanks a bunch for the quick feedback. I think I'm gonna call it a day & a week. have a great weekend all!
  14. hello. I'm a relative noob to the forum. and I acknowledge that my issue could exist in the keyboard-to-chair interface. that said, I'm reading this post https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/163667-how-to-make-the-rp-160m-come-alive/#entry2013321 when I click on the images in post 1, I get the error message "you do not have permission to view this image", regardless of which image I try to open. what is it I'm doing wrong? or am I disallowed from viewing images due to low post count? thanks in advance.
  15. well, how about that - I did the same thing. snagged a pair of R28-F's from Best Buy, black Friday 2015, for same price! 1/2 off - got the pair for what a single would normally have cost me. man, I was fired up! still am, when I harken back to it. and love every sound & every moment listening to them!
  16. oh. oh well. let's hope the new owner shows his appreciation better than the seller. thanks for the info prerich
  17. should we show up at his door, flog him and relieve him of his Belles? that's just disrespectful and sacreligious
  18. hello all. new member here. I signed up a little while back, and check in to read up in spells. anyway, has anyone seen this CL post: https://batonrouge.craigslist.org/ele/5546280100.html poster says has 3x Belle Klipsch for $1000. Alexandria LA. not many cabinet photos or much detail visible. I wish I could jump on those, thinking that might be a pretty good deal. realistically I probably shouldn't for financial reasons. but at the same time, I frequently torture myself thinking "is it a good deal? or a good investment, to possibly rescue & turn down the road?" I'm curious what others think, as well as respecting advice of those with much more experience in the area than I. thanks in advance.
