  1. I recently purchased some LMAHL tweeters from Dave A and they are beautiful and sound amazing in my Forte 1s. Ive been thinking of upgrading my 1s to Forte 3s because of the reviews of the great midrange coming out of the 3s. I started thinking that I bet Dave A could probably make a midrange driver with some of his beautiful machined aluminum horns that might bring the level of my vintage Forte 1s to an even higher level than the Forte 3s. I don't know enough about the klipsch midrange driver in the Forte 1s to know what other klipsch speakers share the same drivers. I'm hoping that Dave can work the magic he did with the Tweeters to some Dave A Midrange drivers. How many of you here would be willing to spend some decent $$$$$ for some midrange drivers that took our Klipsch speakers to that next level?
  2. Contacting Cory was very helpful and takes away the urgency to purchase the local used Forte 3s as cory has competitive pricing on new ones. Thanks for everyones input!
  3. haha - no its my chance to hear the F3 versus my F1s? My space is too small to fit Cornwalls - we are talking even two inches make it too crowded in my listening room.
  4. Took your advice and dropped Paducah and email to inquire. - Thanks
  5. Primaluna makes amps that sound freaking amazing! GLWS
  6. The only reason i'm even thinking of these is that they are 5 minutes from my house and are MINT condition - seller bought new Cornwalls because he liked the Fortes so much. One thing I have learned being on this Forum is that value is determined often by location and 5 minutes away is a good location as far as I am concerned. lol
  7. I'm also running a Primaluna EVO 400 and love my Forte 1s and large HSU sub - afraid to go look at the Forte 3s because I might have to BUY them.
  8. The Klipsch bug is hard to shake. I love my current speakers but when I see a pair of Forte 111s in perfect condition for sale within 5 minutes of my house I get really sucked in fast. I know $2700 isn't the best deal but perhaps these could go for a few hundred less and they would be hard to pass up if they sound a LOT BETTER than my current speakers?????
  9. So what is the major difference in sound?
  10. Would that be a decent deal? Would it sound noticeably better than my Forte 1s with Crites Crossovers and Dave A,s LMAHL Tweeter upgrade. I really need to hear the Forte 3s - lots of Hype but have mo idea if they are at another level than my upgraded 1s?
  11. This is the center channel speaker I use in my HT system between my Fortes and it sounds very good while watching TV and video programs
  12. You know I respect your opinion and you are more of an expert than I am - as I have never rolled a tube in my life - lol Been thinking of trying GOLD LION KT77 / EL34
  13. so do you like the KT 120s over the EL 34s? i have never heard different tubes in my EVO 400???????
  14. That is an interesting take on the MHA 100 which actually cost closer to $5000. I paid $3,500 new for my MA252 and my Integrated EVO 400 was right around $5000. I dont think the MA252 and MHA 100 have the same sound signature but I'm sure the PL and MA252 sound very different with my setup.
  15. As I have stated everywhere on the Klipsch Forum I think the MA252 is a great integrated amplifier that sounded very good in my system. I loved the tone controls and the balance control along with the built in phono preamp. A beautifully built amp that looked great in my living room. The Mcintosh headphone amp you and your buddy compared the EVO 400 with probably sounded great. I have no idea what the would sound like driving my Fortes and HSU Subwoofer but i'm guessing it would also sound very good. My high opinion of the PL EVO 400 is comes from owning both the ma 252 and the EVO 400 and listening to each one in my personal system and the synergy is just better to my ears with the PL. Doesn't mean the PL is better than the MA252 just means to my ears in my room with my speakers the PL sounds richer, warmer, bass more punchy and voices seem more present like in a live venue. I listen to a lot of genres and some fairly loud and am enjoying the Primaluna very much but I dont think any amp is the end all be all for everyone. Thats 252 is a beautiful piece of electronics
  16. I am using the yamaha AVRs sub out for 7 channel and the PL Sub out for 2 channel
  17. When I picked up my evo 400 Kevin Deal from Upscale Audio told me to try the 4 ohm and 8 ohm taps on the PL and use the one that sounded best - to my ears the 4 ohm taps sounded much better than the 8 ohm taps and I have left the speakers plugged into the 4 ohm taps ever since. Soundstage was deeper and bass seamed deeper too but all in all it just sounded better in my system on the 4 ohm taps. No damage at all to amp or speakers.
  18. The PL EVO 400 has plenty of power even with speakers that are only 90 db efficient. I have Forte 1s and they are not as efficient as the Forte 111s but they can blow me out of my house. Because I love the lowest octaves in my music I have large HSU Subwoofer and my system sounds amazing. I had the Macintosh MA 252 and it was very good but the PL EVO 400 is WOW WOW WOW! The PL has a subwoofer out so you dont need to run wires from your speakers to a sub.
  19. LOL - I know you love the chorus but I dont have extra 2 inches in my living room - wish I did but my Fortes sound amazing with Dave A,s new LMAHL Tweeters - zero extra inches - its tight and Lascals would never fit in my space
  20. you need room for bigger speakers - something I do not have and many people lack
  21. $1800 is a great price for Forte 111s - they sell for close to $4,000 a pair new
  22. they look pretty good from the email the seller sent me
  23. I got a relpy from the seller and the speaker cabinets have a few nicks and an odd black tint but look very clean otherwise - I want them but my wife said -'No Way' she likes my Heresy 1s I fixed up that perfectly match my fortes - so WAF is zero on the Forte 111s - Damn
  24. Never got a reply from my inquiry - I probably would have bought them if they were in decent condition cabinet wise
