Bach in ~1990-91 I had just updated my gear to a Denon dap-2500, poa4400s & dcd2560. The old stuff was a cobbled collection of gear that was pieced together with stuff I got as money would allow at that time and it was not all that great other than the rt909 open reel. All the new gear was a big night & day upgrade from the old but I still had Marantz Imperial 7(b?) speakers that were 'OK'. Then ~1991-92 there was a program at a local audio store that allowed you to take speakers home to audition. A friend pointed out that they had Klipsch speakers and to give them a try so I thought why not, after all it would only cost me time and gas. Well I took home a pair of new-in-the-box forte IIs and dropped in my (at the time) reference music, a Sting CD. What cam out of those forte IIs was totally magical, I could not believe what my ears were hearing. I must had gone through fifty CDs and I could not get over my new found sound and the wife was glad it was finally over.. I am sure many of you out there have been there with your wives too. But sadly the wife did not see the justification for that price point. So back went the forte IIs and bought the Quartets in stead. But once I had a taste of that Klipsch sound I was hooked for life.

In a KG series speaker? I do not think they ever got oil/foil caps did they? Were the KGs even offered that far back when that was the norm? I would have thought polyester/NPEs would be in the original xovers.

Not to say there is anything wrong with forte Is - but if you already have forte Iis......an upgrade? Or just looking to expand you collection?

I do not know the answer to your question, but you may want to contact Speaker Exchange. They are an authorized Klipsch repair center, they re- coned my forte II passives and maybe they can do the same for your k48k(s).. https://reconingspeakers.com/

3 Phenolic Tweeter Diaphragms from Forte I and Academy - $15 Ea.
Alexander replied to japosey's topic in Garage Sale
Phenolic is created when weighted layers of cotton, paper or glass fabric mix are placed under heat and pressure and filled with synthetic resin. This creates an extremely durable and tough material that is exceptionally more lightweight than aluminum but offers many of the same benefits and applications. -
yep, but they said asking $1200

I know it is Federal law that you will need at least 4 (four) Yes's to make it binding -
Basic cable question regarding my new Klipsh reference home theater
Alexander replied to Ummagumma's topic in Home Theater
Yes you got it right As long as you stay under say 9 meters, more than that and you may want to start considering going anther 2 steps larger gauge wire. The length of a run applies to both CCA & pure copper BTW. The concern is less of an audiophile one but rather a resistive load to your avr. Say 30/70%, it does not need to be any kind of “fancy” stuff what so ever. Something to keep in mind, oxidized copper is conductive while oxidized aluminum is not so resistance can build up over time.
