  1. Looking to add a bit of acoustic room treatment to a 16' x 18' living room. Can Roxul Rockboard 60 be used with just a fabric covering or will it require some form of frame to hold it together? The size I am thinking would be 2' x 4' panels. With a vaulted ceiling that starts at 8' up to 11.5' at the peak. The ceiling angle is perpendicular to the sound source wall. So should I also consider adding any panels on the opposing wall above the ~8' high mark? And yes the picture will be removed
  2. To answer one of your questions of being willing to make changes to the xo. The answer would be yes if I find out what needs to be changed . Waiting on a calibrated mic and to be used with REW to first measure the klf-30's in the original stock config, then re-introduce the a55g then finally the forte III horn with and without the a55g if they are available (and not too pricey)
  3. Thanks gentlemen, I will try the microphone method when my back order mic finally gets filled just so I can do that on any driver in question. And Chris A, so this would be the same as creating a .frd file?
  4. I have a set of stock k79's that I can not read the polarity on them (I did take them apart for a better look) . My eyesight is not too good and the markings are vary faint if any. Is there a way to test them? I know we can test woofers with a battery but how do we do it with horn type drivers? BTY: If anyone needs to know on Crites K75/76/79k Ti diaphragms with the dome up and terminals facing you the + is on the right.
  5. If I may ask. What did you use for paint and how well has it held up? I have xpa-1's and other Emotiva gear all with gen 1 silver trim and thinking about changing it to black trim.
  6. ELI the ICE man was what my instructor told us Voltage leads current in an indicator (L) Current leads voltage in a capacitor (C)
  7. Welcome to the board, I can relate to your eye sight problem. By your description there is something wrong with those forte II's. Makes one wonder of yet another possibility - that the prev owner installed the Ti mid driver diaphragms without the crossover mod. I have not heard this myself but there have been many people that have and did not like it with or without the crossover mod.
  8. Had there never been any expermention done we might have never had Toll House cookies
  9. I have sent in an email to Klipsch asking that question, will get back with their reply
  10. There are others that are considering the same kind of change over for different Klipsch models. So it would be safe to say that this would also apply to any of the other updated horns with mumps.
  11. Finding out that the forte III mid horn is a drop-in to my klf-30's (and 20's) I wonder how much difference may a mumps version of a given horn make. I guess what I am really after is what does the mumps do to improve a regular horn counter part?.
  12. Yep. The KLF line seems to be looked down upon by some – even more than the forte's & Chorus's. For many different reasons there are people that just can not have Cornwall or higher model speakers.
  13. Curios CANT, have you actually listened to an a55g driver in anything? I mean with your ears, not looking at numbers or graphs on a screen or on paper?
  14. Thank you, just sent in an inquiry of availability and cost of the forte III horn. Will report back when & what I find.
  15. Thanks, funny you say that – looking at the pics I wondering if the forte III might be just a klf-20/30 with mumps. Has any one compared the two side by side? Also can we buy the forte III horn from Klipsch yet (without a serial #) and if so the price? Man that would be great if the forte III horn was a drop-in for the klf-20&30.
  16. Is the forte III horn screw-on or bolt-on? I do not recall it ever mentioned.
  17. I do have another pair of identical Denon poa-4400's I could hook while we wait for the mic.
  18. Yep, REW was planed, I have to wait for about a month for funds. But partsexpress is out of stock at the moment so I guess the wait was meant to be.
  19. did/are you upgrade the Academy tweeter to Ti also? I have Crites Ti's in klf-30's but thinking of doing the same to the matching klf-c7 center.
  20. Here is another yes vote for the klf series, I also own a pair of forte II's and they sit idle with the klf-30's taking there place as both 2 channel & mains of a 5.1 system. There are a few threads on this board that go into mods too.
  21. Cool beans! My first thought was to change the tap on the 3636 from -6db to something less, like maybe -3-4db. That is what launched the start of trying to model autotransformers and any collateral changes one may have been needed. Doing the math a 47ohm nets 14.9ohms and 56ohms nets 15.8ohms, I tend to be on the conservative side so we would start with the 56ohm. But first we will have to put the k52h back in and get a baseline when we have a microphone. I would like to thank everyone for all of your time taken with your posts trying to help me understand.
  22. It is different, here you go: KLF-C7.pdf
  23. Wow, this is basically the same thing. Can not believe I did not make the connection between the two back then as I did read that thread. This is exactly what we were wanting to look at and basically try and tweak the xo. Looking at the Chorus II & klf-30 schematics there are virtually identical with the excretion of the LF side due to the different woofer arrangement. The only change is the klf-30 used a 22ohm and not a 20ohm resister. Curios though how much change there might be with the different horns being used. The plan now will be when we order/receive a miniDSP microphone in about a month we will be taking our own measurements so we can compare graphs. I need to get some 82,68 & 47ohm resistors and also have a slew of Solen/Dayton .47-2uF caps to test with and when (if) we settle on a value we can get some matching Audyn plus caps. note: Yikes! Looks like a few posts showed up bettwen jjptkd and this one
  24. I will tell you when I changed out the k52h to the a55g's it was immediately apparent of the change for the better. I would not hesitate to recommend them to any klf-20/30 owners if they could afford them. I am 62 so I am sure I have lost some hearing too. I use to hear the 17.5Hz from the tripler on CRT TV's, that would drive me nuts.
