  2. In My Situation, I had to crank My Ol' Pioneer about 50% to get them to normal listening levels for the first few days. Just playing music CD's & Running Digital Cable about 6 hours a day ( All the while thinking to Myself I thought Klipsch were supposed to be all that when it comes to efficiency??? What gives??) On the fifth day I went out and picked up a few new Dvd's & Cd's including Busta Rhymes "Genesis". I powered My rig up, popped in the Busta cd and before the first beat or anything dropped I proceeded to crank it alittle. BOOoooom!!!! (Picture the logo of the guy in the chair with his Neck Tie flying backwards, think its Memorex) Anyway, this was Me. I had My Wife and 3 year old both yellin' at Me to "Cut That Down"! (Yeah Baby, now that's what I'm talking about). It was completely nite and day. I only had to crank to 10% to get to those same levels, depending on the source material of course. I have no experience with S3's yet. But, I would imagine with some of that "5 channel stereo" going on. It shouldn't be that long at all. Happy Listening, J ------------------ Pioneer 906s A\V Rec. 4. Peel: I'm glad to hear your lovin' your system now. I can't wait to add a pair of RS3 & New Sub to my set-up. My Theater will be that much better. My New Wide Screen will have to wait a few more years. Phil O: I would also second that you try and stay within the reference line. A pair of RB-3's would probably be nice. There is a pair of Rf-3's over on: www.audiogon.com for $400.00. You Probably could will & deal to get them lower. Wish there were a pair of Rs-3 over there. 6. I would take a stab and say that the difference would be minimal. As far as I know they are just Re-wired. I don't think they use different material or crossovers etc etc. But, don't take My word for it. I've never heard them to compare the two. Maybe someone else will sound off here soon. 8. Yeah, I would have to agree. Not matching things up is alittle too distracting. Everytime We watch a movie, we're always turning Our heads as the efx kick in. Just not as smooth as it should be. I also have to put My rears (JBL N26's) at +10 DB's, vice +1 DB for front 3 (Ref 3's) to Reach the reference of 75 DB's in my set-up. Which is why those Jbl's will be coming down soon! Jwadd, How did you work that (3) Rf-3 configuration out? You have an extra in the closet somewhere? Guess your ready for a rear center if so!!!! Off to check if there are deals to be had on a pair of RS-3II's. Jalen ------------------ Pioneer 906s A\V Rec. 9. Yeah Orange, Your Bass Should Be Solved with your new sub in route. I sure wish I had a larger room. I was just recently considering a purchase of a couple pair of Paradigm atoms w\matching center just to hold me over until Our move here in a few months (the speakers are too powerful for my room). But, I had to pull it together. Anymore money spent around here will go to better system I have now (Like new Up to date AV prossesor, better Sub & perhaps matching rears). How do You like Your Reference Series on the Whole? Do you get that smooth Front to Back panning, for Home Theater? I may Try and add a pair of rs-3's here soon. 10. Exactly, now the quest to find the perfect amp! I'm on that same path. although I currently lie dormant at present (Budget & New Addition to the Family). If you read about this Forum, you'll find opinions on both SS & Tube Amps, and there is alot of Tube lovers in this Portion of the forum! Good Luck with search. Keep Us posted on whatever you finally decide on. Jalen ------------------ Pioneer 906s A\V Rec. 11. What size room do you have? If you have a really large room the bass may be harder to come by. Another thing to try is your placement maybe a few more inches to the back may help some. If that doesn't work, try an outboard amp, A nice intergrated or 2channel amp + Pre. Then come back with a response!!!! In My Set-up (15X15') I get too much Bass. On some of the Big Block Buster Flix I sometimes have to cut off my sub, it's so much bass. That's running Pioneer + Rotel 976 only. I'm thinking about changing my crossovers to 100 or 200, hopefully this will only sent LFE to the sub Only. When I hook-up Rotel+Parasound for 2 channel fogetaboutit!!!! Party Over Here!!!!! 13. Thanks Lynnm, I really appreciate Your efforts at explaining the differences in the designs of tube amps. although, I was able to soak some of that info in, most of it was as if You were speaking in French or some other language I don't understand. I guess I need things explained in " the lowest of laimen (sp?) terms, almost ebonics if you will. Not that I need you to repeat it or anything. I guess I'm from the camp of " Duh, If it sounds better then I'll give it a shot"(within My Budget). You know that camp? But, My understanding of "tubes" are that of Major Headaches. Especially, if you have no knowledge of tweaking, rebuilding, soldering, and finding the right tubes etc etc. It can really be expensive also for a good Tube set-up. Yet, another reason I was considering the Zen amps. They are supposed to be decent sounding and comes with a lifetime guarantee (If the thing breaks down, I'll send that S**T back for replacement). But, from what I hear even the Zens, suffer from too little Bass & Clips on occasional Crank sessions. So, for now I'm Gonna stick with SS amps. My Rf-3's & Rotel 976 is sounding a little better these days (Now that I got my new cd player). But, may still be quite Edgy or Fatiguing at louder volume levels. Maybe I need a new amp, maybe I need a larger Room with some better treatment, who knows? We will be moving to Italy some damn where here in a few months (Military). Maybe I'll have a something larger than 15 X 15' room to work with this time. One things for sure I plan on keeping My RF-3's and building around them untill I find a perfect match. 14. Yeah, That cambridge is really something. Light years ahead of my Technics Cd Changer (Which I plan to pass down to my Son when He's of age (3yrs Old)). One thing about that Technics is they are pretty reliable if anything else. I've had it going on 10yrs now and it holds 110+1 cd's to boot. Prodj: I see you have a Mc2105 in your system? Care to give a review? How do you think it will sound on My Rf-3's? I ask because I really like Mcintosh amps also, and was considering a purchase of one. I also found a power seller willing to sell me a pretty mint 2105 at a good price. Lynnm: whoa whoa whoa, you really lost me on the tube stuff. I guess you really like tubes huh? I knowz nothing about tubes. It's Why I was considering The Zens as starters. Trying to find something alittle smoother for my rf-3's. Mcintosh & Possibly tubes (which I've never heard), are the only things that come to mind Jalen ------------------ Pioneer 906s A\V Rec. 15. Hi All, I'd like to give a big "Mucho Grande" Thank You To All who advised me to upgrade my source alittle while back. I went and ordered a Cambradge Audio 500SE(Silver) Cd Player from Audio Advisor. Finally got it broken in the other day. Man did it open things up for me. Great soundstage, even got the "Air" Thingy going when listening thru the Paradigms (Don't Know If the RF-3's are capable of that "Air" Just hooked them back up today). I now know Just what the hell people are talking about when they say they hear the back walls of the recording studios. Center Image is also way better on Both Sets of Speakers. It was always there on The Paradigms not quite so good with the RF-3's. But, with either on now sounds like I'm listening In Dolby or something. I Even went out and bought a few Cd's (Steve Miller 1974-78, The Beatles (1), Jimi Hendrix Experience, Herb Alpert Definitive Hits & Dave Matthews Band Busted Stuff), and get this I've only purchased a total of three (3) CD's in the past three years(Stinkin' MP3's). That's saying alot for this player!!! I may still upgrade My Amp In the future. Maybe in like six months or so when the newness wears off from this player. I Might just try out some "Tubes"(Thinking like a couple of Zen 84c's may set me off!!!). Thanks again Guys, As you can see nothin' but smiles here--> Jalen ------------------ Pioneer 906s A\V Rec. 19. Thanks For the reviews Guys, Doug C: you should be working for one of the audio\HT magazines!!! Outstanding review. Deang: Your right about that break-in Period. With My RF-3II's I had to Turn The Ol' Pioneer Up 75% To Get Decent Volume out of them the first week or so. After that I noticed I was recieving that same Volume at about 10-20%. Don't know if you guys been following my thread of late? But, I Think I've come to the conclusion, that I will upgrade My Wires and Interconnects first. Then Maybe My Source at a later date. I'll probably save a few dollars that way. Happy listening, Jalen ------------------ Pioneer 906s A\V Rec. 20. Thanks Again All, I Called My Dealer (Audio Craft) Yesterday. Just Was Wondering What Was The Exact Model Numbers On that Mac Combo. Also to get Their Opinion on Obtaining that "Airiness\Greater Detal & Sound staging". The Gear was MC15\MC122 Pre\Power, Source was Sony 9000es SACD ($1500.) Changer, Speakers were connected Using Monster M1.2 The interconnects was M1000. He Then asked what was my equipment. I told him and he says it a pretty decent setup minus My Source & Wire\interconnects. He suggested a couple models from Sony Es Line & a Couple From Pioneer Elite Line. Then I should Look at My Wire\interconects Last. But After reading reviews of the Monster M1.2 & M1000, Reviewers were all mentioning Air and sound stage using these. So, I think I'm gonna Try some of these wires and connects first. See If Things open up at alittle moneys saved. Wish me luck, Jalen ------------------ Pioneer 906s A\V Rec.
