  1. BTW ... if anyone needs the 904 horn brackets, send me a pm. Of course they are free, but shipping will probably about $10-$15. Cheers, Emile
  2. Just a comment ... had problems with my screw drive (on HEAVY SOLID WOOD double garage doors) ... applied a lot of (special screw) grease and they work as new without ANY noise. Cheers, Emile
  3. Yeah; me too ... wanted to (walnut) reveneer mine but got one "estimate" for $1500 So, build a separate box for the horns and just used the "industrial paint." Looks pretty good and "passed" the WAF.
  4. Hi All, Was hoping to get some advise Redoing my A/V system with a new Onkyo TX-RZ810 AVR, hooked up to Cornwall's, KG3.2's. KG1.5's, KV2 center and 4cuft bass box. Also running outboard Marantz 2252B amp on KPT-904 speakers. Have an old Onkyo DV-CP706 CD/DVD player hooked up. Sounds decent, but I am sure there are much better players out there (Have an Oppo in my stereo room ) But ... really love the 5-disc changer setup (great for switching cd/dvd's when "partying" with friends). Any hifi changers available??? Cheers, Emile
  5. you had to make me do this No AVR I wanted would fit TV/fireplace is surrounded by cedar 2x12 book cases ...made my "cabinet" by extending a portion with 2x8 cedar and glass doors. Guess I can extend it with 2x4's and fit in a "bigger" AVR Wife is visiting her mother for a week ... she'll never even notice it So; got an Onkyo TZ-RZ810 ... yes, know there are better AVR's out there, but do not use it that much Plus it was one of the few models which had phono input, 2nd/3rd zone output, full pre-outs, AND (most important to me) digital output to zones from HDMI. Almost bought a refurb unit from A4less ($550 + $40 tax +$10 shipping = $600; 1 year warranty), but found Crutchfield has these on sale for $600 (no tax - for me in FL -, $0 shipping, and NEW with 3 year warranty). OK; a "no-brainer." Ordered and will be here Monday ... gives me time to rip out all my old stuff, redo the cabinet ... and drink lot of wine Cheers, Emile
  6. @willland , @vasubandu , @The History Kid ... many thanks for all your help! Cheers, Emile
  7. Thanks again .. but just to make sure these 2-channel pre-outs are usually designated as zone2/3/etc? Played with my cheap Onkyo 646 before and zone2 ONLY transferred RCA inputs and NOT HDMI inputs So (for example) running my CD/DVD player via HDMI to the AVR AND via RCA to my outboard Marantz ... seems stupid but ... Many thanks, Emile
  8. Thanks a lot! Finally starting to understand this (and I have played with it for a loong time ) Basically just want to run CD's through my better (thanks ) Marantz outboard in a 2.0 setup. But "also" would like to sometimes use my Marantz and KPT-904's to "grab" the inputs to my AVR (bluray, tv, etc.) and don't mind that my AVR's FR/FL stay "on" as they are overpowered by the 904's anyhow. Hope this makes sense. Cheers, Emile
  9. Add-on ... so, if I want "full" 2.0 sound from my outboard amp I should use zone2? Remember screwing with this before and quit playing with it because zone2 only transferred the RCA inputs and NOT HDMI inputs Thanks, Emile
  10. Bill, thanks! Just to make sure I fully understand ... If I use my outboard amp on the FR/FL outputs of the "full" pre-out section of my AVR (FR/FL, center, surrounds, rears) it will "stop" the FR/FL speakers hooked up to the AVR? And ... it will "only" give me the "AVR FR/FL" sound (i.e. not a full 2.0 sound?) Thanks a million, Emile
  11. OK; now I am REALLY CONFUSED Was looking to upgrade my Onkyo TX-NR646 since it has no pre-outs (except sub and zone2). So; started looking at the Marantz SR5011 and Integra 50.4 so I would have something else to play with while the wife is gone on a trip. Both these models have "full" pre-outs and zones. So, ??? if I hookup my vintage amp to the "full" pre-outs of the AVR (FL/FR, center, rears, etc ...) ... hooking it up to FL/FR of this set of pre-outs, do I get all the sound for a 2.0 channel or only the FR/FL as massaged by the AVR (i.e. missing the rest of the signal)???? Many thanks, Emile
  12. Correct ... finish it ... never leave open bottles $2000 EACH for JBL's? Yeah, pretty pricey ... but "stuff" is expensive in Germany/Europe. Havent used my turntable in the TV room for about a year ... so yes, could use a phono pre-amp ... another gadget to add The Marantz 6011 does not fit in my cabinet wahhh. Cheers, Emile
  13. vasubandu, thanks a lot! Yes too "deep" for my cabinet So; decided to get a Marantz SR5011 ... did one last check and DARN no phono inputs on that model Not my day Going to have some wine (later; 5pm) and think about it. Probably best to make my cabinet deeper - real pain in the a**. No problem with helping your German friend That'swhat we are here for Cheers, Emile
  14. Did a lot more checking on the Integra 50.3 and 50.4. 99% sure the are 16-13/16 inches deep. Darn won't fit in my rack OK; looking for something else
  15. Hi vasubandu ... understand you have the 50.6 model Hope you can do me a BIG favor. Want to order the 50.3 from A4less (today) but there seems to be a discrepancy on the size, i.e. the DEPTH of this unit. Most websites show it as 14-13/16 inch ... but the manual shows it as 16-13/16 inch. (In which case it does NOT fit in my rack ... and really do not feel like ordering it and then shipping it back )If you could check the depth dimension I would extremely appreciate it. Many, many thanks! Cheers, Emile
  16. Thanks a lot! Yes, wanted a bigger/better one than the SR6011 or 50.3 but ... "component rack" (see pic) is not deep enough for the bigger/better ones Max depth is 17 1/2 inch ... the Integra 50.3 is almost 15" deep ... and I have too much heavy duty wiring hookups behind it ... hope it fits Cheers, Emile
  17. Glued it on ... never even thought of redoing it your way Oh well; was just an easy small panel and had enough cloth left. Cheers, Emile
  18. Yeah ... think either one would be OK. But at $300 - original MSRP $1400 (and 40 POUNDS) the Integra just sounds like a "steal." Cheers, Emile
  19. A vintage Marantz 2252B ... or maybe my Bob Latino ST70 tube amp (but don't think I have enough "ventilation" inside this cabinet for "tubes.) Thanks, Emile
  20. OK; think I will be "killed" for this one ... just moved some speakers around (as I "put in" my new KPT-904's ) and one speaker wire was short. Found an old spool of 14/2 speaker wire in my garage ... looked a little "green" due to oxidation splice it in and hooked it up. Awesome sound Cheers, Emile
  21. Hi ...hoping to "tap into" your expertise (as well as "others") Need to replace (OK; just "want to" replace) my AVR since my piece of s**t does not have pre-outs and want to feed my separate amp inputs from the AVR. Do not use an AVR much. Most TV listening is done through (horrible) TV speakers. Had selected a Marantz SR-5011 from A4less (only $450), but a little more searching gave me an Intregra DTR 50.3 for ONLY $300 at the same please. The Integra seems "excellent." Note; know there are much better AVR's, but I am constrained by the "depth" in my "rack" (can only do 15" deep). Have a 7.1 setup with KG3.2's, KG1.5's, KV2 center, 4 cuft bass box and Cornwall's as rears. Also 2.0 with my new KPT-904's on a Marantz 2252B. (Yes; that's why the Cornwall's went to the "back." ) Many, many thanks! Cheers, Emile
  22. Tim, Thanks! Yes, pretty sure your wife will be OK with it with some grilles, etc. Mine are still "standing" in front of my Cornwall's and "believe" I got the "OK." And ... when she hears these, she'll be "sold." (Wife is used to my Cornwall's ... and cheaper KG series on 7.1 surround ... but she thought the 904's were "just awesome.") When I get some help I'll move these 156# boxes into the "old" Cornwall positions ... they are set back in bookcases surrounding the fireplace. Go for it Cheers, Emile
  23. Ha ha ... she hasn't even noticed ... guess she's been busy OK; showed her ... response "they are so much better looking ...guess 2 weeks of work paid off Cheers, Emile
