  1. mOOn, Well yes, if you put it on all walls and ceiling you would have a VERY dead room. But you wouldn't want that unless you were doing voice recordings or something . With those bass traps you are supposed to put them in strategic locations in the room (not covering the whole room). Now where those positions would be in your room I'm not sure. But corners do increase bass frequencies. Perhaps you could contact them and they could make suggestions? Also, there might be an acoustic design firm in your town that could help? V
  2. What about a bass corner trap? Try checking these out. http://www.auralex.com/category_bass_traps/category_bass_traps.html I don't know if they will work, but it could be worth a shot. V
  3. My vote goes to the B&K. I have a ST1200 II that sounds fantastic. Very clean power output. V
  4. bedub darh doh weburb..... *picks jaw up from floor* WOW! V
  5. Malcom, Good points! I'll give them a shot. When I did the tests with the meter I had it placed in the center of the two about 7-8 ft out. Thanks, V
  6. Hello all, Me again with my CF-3 problems. I bought a db meter from radio shack the other weekend to recalibrate my system with the new speakers. My CF-3's had speaker 1 with the mesh screen in place, speaker 2 was missing it. So I removed the mesh screen from speaker 1 because it sounded brighter that the other. This helped. When I was recalibrating the speakers with white noise I found out that speaker 2(originally without the screen) is 1.5 db lower than the other! Also I can hear the difference in volume. I call Klipsch and the replacement driver is $210. I just want to know if anyone here thinks that the driver in speaker 2 could be damaged or if it might be a crossover problem? All the speaker wire is the same length, the connectors are good. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, V

  8. Thanks guys, Keith, the turntable is OLD, it's made by Optonica (old division of Sharp) it's my dad's actually. My old K-Tel records sound pretty good I can't give up the laser disc! I have the Star Wars trilogy (orginal version) and a number of other discs that aren't on DVD yet. I still think it gives DVD a run for the money regarding the picture quality. Rowoo, did you get my PM about the CF-3's? V
  9. Thanks dnd, I would say that it isn't customary. But it was really the only option I had. My room is rather narrow, so to get the optimum distance from the TV the seating position is against the back wall. The IW's do sound pretty good considering, the bass is missing the punch. I think if they were in a wall though that wouldn't be a problem. I'm also in need of a real a/v rack, the one I have is decades old and I've had to cut holes in the back because everything is too deep. I'm working on building my own. V

  15. Hello all, I just recevied my KV-4 center channel. It was shipped by Fed-Ex and they dropped it, as a result the horn has two large cracks in it. The drive seems to be fine. I've emailed Klipsch support twice and phoned them twice. I haven't gotten a response from eithter. I need to find out the cost of replaceing the horn because we've place a claim with Fed-Ex to pay for it. I have 10 days left to get the claim to them. Would someone be able to tell me how much the replacement horn would cost? Thank you, Voodoo
  16. rowoo, thanks. But I'm a moron today.... yesterday. I'm almost too embarresed to say what it was. I had the polarity switch on the banana plug. I'm blaming it on poor lighting.... yeah. Thanks again, V
  17. Hi TheEAR, I'm replacing my Paradigm PDR-12. I have a lead on a Servo-15 with X30. Price is less than $1000. My problem is, I am really heavy on going the SVS route. Say the budget was $900. Were would you go? Thanks, V Forgot to mention, I'm big on it being accurate. I light tight bass. I listen to 70% music 30% movies This message has been edited by Voodoo chile on 03-18-2002 at 06:02 PM
  18. Ok, I've pulled the screen out and it sounds more like the other. New thing though, I was listening to some stuff a little louder the other day and the speakers sound out of phase. They're both the same distance from the wall. I know it's not the recording because I went in my other room and listened to the same material. Could pulling that screen off affect something else? Thanks again, V
  19. Ray, Thank you. I do hear a difference even when the are apart, and I've listened to quit a few different sources of music. I'm going to pull the screen out of the one and see if they match up then. You mention Trey, I take it that is someone in tech support at Klipsch? Tahnks again for your help!! Voodoo
  20. I just puchased some CF-3's. They sound fantastic except for one thing that I noticed after I got them in my house. I've now noticed that one speaker has a silver mesh screen in the tweeter, the other doesn't. The one with the screen seems to sound a tad bit brighter than the other. Can you tell me what might be happening? Is the tweeter without the mesh screen damaged? Could the screen have fallen out? If I do need to buy a new replacement tweeter how much are they, and can you still get them? Thank you for any help. V This message has been edited by Voodoo chile on 03-14-2002 at 03:45 PM
