  1. Well my PB12 plus weighs 175 pounds so I get that. Weight not an issue but are they any good?
  2. For what it is, it seems underpriced, and someone has the grills alone on eBay right not for $250. Hard to see how they will get that. I have not found an RT-12D sale under $1,000. He ought to list it in usadiomart.com and on AVSforums.
  3. Ok these are real 2 for 1850 http://www.avsforum.com/forum/209-audio-gear/2260914-1850-two-klipsch-rt-12d-subs-excellent-condition-sc.html#/topics/2260914 5 expired craigslist from 1000 to 1600. Looks spendy
  4. Thanks guys it is another mission. Home theater done except tv and subwoofer. May go for 4 svs cylinders, a jtr or make a few myself.
  5. Hey @Arrow#422 on sold on avs last September for 150. http://www.avsforum.com/forum/209-audio-gear/2921412-klipsch-rw12d-subwoofer-boston-area.html#/topics/2921412 And a pair from Kansas last June for 425 http://www.avsforum.com/forum/209-audio-gear/2867305-fs-2x-klipsch-rw12d-kansas.html#/topics/2867305
  6. And wow @Arrow#422 never saw that before. Love it.
  7. Yes @Arrow#422 I finally did sell them. Too 1500 from a really nice guy.
  8. That is why I think that that transition will be very short until people-driven cars are outlawed or limited to Antarctica. Mixing cars would be like a bank having its employees do some balance calculations because the machines cannot be trusted. People like to point out that space shuttle cannot land on autopilot, but is has computers less powerful than your smart phone and that had be designed for the rigors of space travel, so it is not fair point. The question is why would we let people drive cars when AVs are around? It is an activity dangerous to others that will be totally unnecessary. The other thing is that we and China will be able to make all the AVs we need very quickly. They are likely to be 20-25% of a small car. They can be made cheaply in the same respct that computers can.
  9. I have an idea and it genuinely seems to make sense to me. Tomorrow I am buying a pair of Rf-5 from @jjptkd but they have RC-7 tweeters that were turned for vertical orientation. That will essentially make them vertical RC-7 (2 8-inch woofers and a tweeter). This is where it gets interesting, @jjptkd is also including the tcw RC-7, I assume with the RF-5 tweeters. My normal RC-7, which I also obtained from him, is my favorite speaker. So I will effectively have the same speaker for LCR, which I have read many times is a good idea. I guess I like my RS-7, but as a practical matter they practically are not there. Not the much presence to an 8-inch woofer shooting straight out and tweeters to the sides. SO what if I replace them as surrounds with my new RC-7. Would not be entirely identical, but I also have read many times that it not very important for surrounds. I have some wonderful stands that I can put them on. In this way, at least for 5.1 and 5.2, my speakers would effectively all be the same. I really want to hear what that sounds like. In a perfect world, @jjptkd would devote his prodigious speaker alteration skills to turn the two RC-7 into bipolar speakers. Should not take him more than a few minutes. I cannot imagine how that would begin to be possible, and I am not crazy enough to try it. So does this make sense on some level, and has anyone else made a 5.1 or 5.2 system with identical speakers?
  10. I'm disappointed that you are still disappointed when people lie to sell you things.
  11. Do you need more than 3? Can't you plan around that ?
  12. Thanks. I did not realize that.In 5.1 configuration, I would rather have the back surrounds active than the surrounds. Can I just swap them?
  13. I have a new DTR-50.6 I cannet get it to play anything in 7.2 to save my life. It is always 5.1. The manual does not even include the term 7.2. Thanks.
  14. Thanks. The issue with buying new is I like older speakers. But the klf 30 20 c7 set I am getting soon should end all this looking for a while.
  15. I did not think about that. He had room set up just so.
  16. I heard them from a guy I met on Facebook Klipsch group.he is in Puyallup 30 miles south. We're not for sale - he loves them. 2 way setup. Massive amp but don't remember name. Older I think.my impression was that the sound was really big. It seemed loud without being too loud. The sound seemed very complete like it was strong high and low. There was something about it that made me wonder if I would like it for hours. Like something grating that I could not pinpoint. Great speakers but not my first choice. Too rarified for my tastes.
  17. In my experience they are a great one.
  18. So @CECAA850 is the issue you talked about a receiver difference or a subwoofer difference. If I wanted to figure it out where do I look?
  19. I have been looking into those Uber style delivery services, and they are getting some attention. A few others I found https://www.citizenshipper.com/ https://www.uship.com/ https://www.shipperoo.com/ https://www.shiply.com/courier-auction/ http://enterprise.postbidship.com/ http://www.crosscountrydriver.com/ The world is changing.
  20. @cincymat You know I think I am just going to try to take everyone's advice. I have a guy coming on Saturday who seems likely to buy the Axiom 7.1 speaker set I got in a deal for $2,000, and then I can get this set of KLF-30, KLF-20 and KLF-C7. I have a feeling that those will blow away everything that came before. And while they are a 6 hour drive away, they are still in Washington State and I have talked tot he seller for about an hour. He knows what hew is doing, and he was the original purchaser. Given where I am in the process, that should be more than enough for a while. I will need to find the matching pairs, but I read that my RS-7 will work. And then if I can pull together a thousand dollars I probably would go for that silly SVS B4 Plus in San Diego. The owner has connections and can get it sent up on a pallet cheaply. Everyone says it is crap, but when it came out around 2002, it was the most powerful consumer subwoofer ever made. And it is beautiful. That just seems to make more sense.
  21. @cincymat You make several good points. There is a work of difference between driving 8 hours to pick up a pair of La Scalas and having them shipped across the Pacific Ocean. Maybe I can get my adventure elsewhere. I learned about the shipping when I called them. I asked why their website fails to mention it or qualify you when you get an estimate, and she was like "everyone knows that."
  22. Is this perhaps what you have in mind? https://www.ebay.com/itm/273043823071?rmvSB=true Pickup in Brooklyn only, but the concept
  23. And look you guys, I really appreciate all of these comments. In the scheme of things there is no difference between $700 and $1200, or even $1500. It is not going to change my life, but an amazing speaker might. I think my wife finally understands what I mean when I say that I like to do crazy things, but not stupid ones. The line between the two is not always clear, and when it gets hazy I can be the worst judge. So most of the time I pretty much do what she tells me to.
  24. Sadly the raw brich ones were culled from closed sales. Sold last September in California. Would it be a big deal to replace the entire outer structure with different wood? Seems like it would be just cutting replacements for all the parts. So, for example, could the outside be replaced with koa?
  25. Good catch @Emile I looked at that one too. Huge price jump to the 820 and I never saw why. Given your use, I would say it is about perfect. If I might make a suggestion, finish the project and put the power tools away before hitting the wine.
