Hahahahaha... I don't know how much you play but in my prime I had about a 4-5 handicap. I'd always drag someone local down to Muirfield once a year in the fall for a round of golf. I remember Jack Grout sitting there under his umbrella drinkin ice tea one Saturday morning watching some young kid hit balls on the range. The kid I took down went to putt and I hit the range... I hit EVERY club in my bag perfectly w/Jack sitting there. It was like he blessed me or something. So we exchanged greetings on my way out and he said you're hitting everything pretty well today. I said thanks and I stopped to talk a bit. The kid kept hitting and I whispered how much you getting an hour to do this Jack? He smiled and said $150. That was long ago and the kid was about 12 or so... Jack's been gone a long time but we would always chat a bit at the tournament if we bumped.. So if you taught Nicklaus how much would you charge an hour? Getting enough now or just being a nice guy? A plan for a kid? Females in the game? Have fun w/that stuff... Maybe they're going to etch your plan in stone someday or you'll have a lil red book of your own like Harvey Penick. Nah, they'll figure out the video's in time. BTW, my blessings turned to crap on #1... Two HUGE duck hooks over the creek into the woods and ALL down hill after that... Jack laffed HARD at the turn when I gave him the thumbs down and shook my head.. It was UGLY! lolol That course ALWAYS kills me or I just beat myself. Someday maybe I'll take charge and run a string of birdies but not in this lifetime... lol

Gotta set that bar HIGH! Simple! hahaha

IMO, I don't think Phil will catch much heat from the players or the gallery today. He's respected by all and is totally human. He's gonna get more atta boy's than anything else because of that. People relate to him. Now, WHY am I watching this on TV??? lolol

Buck is pathetic to say the least... Curtis is Curtis. He's ALWAYS been respected by the fans because he asks questions about their family etc. ALWAYS personable to so many during his career, which gave him a nice following even though he wasn't a "great" player like many others. Bring in Curtis for the color and let Joe deal w/the facts, which won't EVER work because Buck is terrible... Totally outta his league!

Agreed, and I'm sure many do watch specific tourney's as far as placement, club selection, etc goes. It's wide-open now to do so... Every player has their book, which is their history, but Tiger took it to a new level is what they were talking about. Some writers thought it unfair to watch the vid tape, others said big deal. Same with players... I'm thinking it might have been his dad's idea but I'm not sure on that one. Him being retired military and wanting a "battle-plan." Saw that he won 4 times, the first in 97 cause I had to look... I wasn't a Tiger fan simply because I'm a Jack fan and I knew he'd never do what Jack did. Then again look at how clubs have progressed over the last 100 years... Hickory, steel, fiberglass, composite this and composite that? Fuzzy had a joke one day about someday in the future it would be like a trap shoot... Point and pull the trigger making your own decisions about how far and where to shoot the ball then having to putt out... Might happen someday who knows, but at that point in time it was funny as crap... Tiger was ALWAYS ALL BUSINESS, which helped his focus I'm sure. Yet most are on the course. I hope he can come back someday but only time will tell.

Mark, I heard the info @ Muirfield about the videos and know it to be true. Soooo, riddle me this...IF you sat down and watched a consecutive series of great players playing Amen corner, seeing their lies and knowing what club they used to get home to the green from a certain spot would it help you? Regardless of the lie since most hit to the same spot or try to, would it help your game knowing whether to fade or draw the ball to get to the next spot on that hole? You've played it before but now it's different. Certainly you would... He analyzed EVERY hole and had a game plan for the course. You're in the big time and want to win it! History for him being the first black player to win the Master's? ANY player black or white or whatever knows where to hit the ball it's just being able to do so.. So IF you hit to within a 10 yard radius of a "spot" would it help you to see the big picture better? I'm not and never was a Tiger fan because imo Jack is one of the greatest to ever play the game. You'd have to research more about his wins there... I'm not gonna... That was the word in the press room is all I can tell you.

Tiger is Tiger. ANYone who has the money starting out wanting to win Augusta and buys ALL the previous videos of the course and analyzes how to play it is a smart man. Yup, he won it... So be it... You're right though, now it's ALL about the $$$ yet it always has been. Side bets are just that... Side bets...

Agree with that. I can remember her doing that. The officials are respected as much or more so by the Staff at Muirfield yet if you talk to them they put their pants on the same way we do. Fuzzy Zoeller and I used to tell jokes every year. We had a blast w/everyone. Cbus legendary TV sports anchor Jimmy Crum used to announce the players on the first tee during the practice rounds. One day Fuzzy drilled one off the tee and right past Jimmy's head doing the introduction. EVERYone rolled... The next day I borrowed a catcher's mask locally and took it down to the tourney in a brown paper bag giving it to JC and telling him to put it on for the intro of Fuzzy that day... He stopped everything, pulled the mask out and put it on to do Fuzzy's intro. Talk about dying laffin??? The ENTIRE place was laffin. Fuzzy couldn't tee off he was laffin so hard... So yea, they're human and real just like everyone else. Tourney starts they're ALL business though!

I can remember ABC bumping CBS outta covering the Memorial. That lasted until their contract expired and Jack went back to CBS and has never changed. Fox is Fox!

Mark, I walked Muirfield when Jack was spray painting trees and he thought I was insane. Yet he appreciated me doing it for him. I have photos of the course being built. You've no idea how many changes Jack made to that course to get the "feel" of playing that same hole on another course somewhere in the world. Almost every hole on that course is a pattern from another course Jack played and loved. That's why it's such a tough course for the pros. Phil's kids were maybe 3-4 years old and one was just a baby I believe. I remember shooting his son w/Phil hitting one in the tee box, which I gave to him the next year. Timing is about right though.

Hmmmmm, I've heard good and bad on pellet grills so let us know your thoughts. I almost bought one last year but had my eye on a Weber Spirit 3-burner. I've ALWAYS cooked on a Weber and love them. Kinda tough to smoke on them but I guess you can. Oldest daughter is an "extreme" couponer who is always looking for a glitch in a price on something somewhere. I'm clueless as to how she does it but one day she called... "Dad, gonna be home?" Showed up w/her two kids in the car and had an un-boxed Weber shoved everywhere in her little car. I was like, seriously??? How'd you know that was the exact grill I was going to buy? She said she found a glitch on a big chain's price @ checkout on this grill... Priced in the ads at $499.95 but when she checked out it came up $49.95 so she paid for it and used a local pickup to get it... Works like a charm 😎 Don't ask me cause I'm clueless how she does it... lol She has so many TP and paper towels in her basement I bought her a de-humidifer... Soggy TP? Not moi!!! 😂

I can remember Phil playing Muirfield VERY early in his career when I was shooting it. I'm thinking it was his first time actually. LONG ago! So VERY gracious in EVERY way to EVERY one. Practice rounds his wife and kids would catch up to him on the holes and walk the course w/Dad just like many other kids. His focus was still golf but you could see just how much he loved his family. Now he's had quite a few health problems which affect his game but his spirit on the course has never wavered. He's still that way today! Yup, he screwed up and knew he screwed up. He's human just like all of us and he'll accept whatever the ruling is today IF there is one. Look at Tiger and so many others... They're all human. It'll sort and he'll accept it. That's the way he is.

Dtel spoke a few words of wisdom when he found out I had LS. Told me about this all being a slippery slope.... He's right! Enjoy your new Heresy's!
