  1. TV watchin buddy!!! And yes, that is his own personal recliner. That doesn't mean he's COMPLETELY spoiled, does it? Back soon, got some negotiating to do. Wish me luck!!
  2. Right rear Thanks FRZIN, and yeah, I got BASS!! LOL
  3. Dang, I'm glad to hear that Mr Mcgoo! That is the amp I'm going to try and get. Sunfire Cinema Grand Series II 225X5. Did a little research this morning, read several reviews and such. No bad word for this baby, only high praise! MSRP new was $2375. With tax here that translates to $2570.93, so if I can get my price, thats $1070.93 saved, and with full warranty from Sunfire. Mr. McGoo, are you using the voltage source or current source speaker connections. I printed off an owners manual, and from what I can gather, the higher impedance current source connections are for electrostatic, planar, or ribbon tweeter speakers. Have you done any experimenting?
  4. His explanation was that the sale had started that morning, and they already had a no int/no pay for 18 mo., and he just didn't read the entire ad, assuming the 36 mo was the same deal. I don't think he was trying to pull one over on me, as when he handed me the paper to sign, he brought it to my attention. He even called Mitsu to see if they would do 36 mo, but they said no. No hard feelings as long as I get my amp here in about 3 hours. Wish me luck!!!
  5. Mr. McGoo, Thanks, learned all my negotiating skills from my Dad many years ago. My ex wife would not even consider going to buy a new vehicle with me after the first time she tagged along. She said she was embarrassed. I do give 'em hell, but money is money, and I work very hards for mine!!! No need for the base, as it will be sitting on the bottom glass shelf of my Bello Audio Rack, which I bought from this same store($799.99 list got it for 729.00 out the door). I can't wait untill tomorrow. I will give those guys so much grief, they will give me what I want just to get me the heck out of there.
  6. Mr. McGoo, I went back to the store, and dug a little deeper, and the amp is a Sunfire Cinema Grand Standard Edition, 17 inches wide. I am working on getting them down to $1500 out the door, and I may get them there. I spent about 5 hrs in the dam place due to a salesmans lack of knowledge. Went in there looking for an upgrade receiver, instead found the amp, and they wanted $1679 plus tax. (8.25%)Made them an offer of $1600 out the door and they came back with $1650. (not too bad, I guess) Any how, decided to look at some TVs while deciding on the amp. The salesman informed me that Mitsubishi released a sale today, with 36 months no payments, no interest. Sooo, I shop around and pick out a 62 inch DLP Mitsu, stand, and progressive DVD player, and tell the guy to ring it up. Helll, I was getting pretty excited. Well, when it finally got down to signing the bottom line, I noticed it said " Payments required". (as in monthly) I told the guy to forget it, as this was not the deal we discussed. Then later I got to thinking, I have been a loyal customer to this place, and they OWE me for wasting my freaking time. So, I called the salesman about 20 min. ago, and told him if the store would like to keep me as a loyal customer, then I want the amp for $1500 out the door. He needed manager's approval, so he asked me to come by around 11:00 oclock tomorrow.Could turn into a pretty darn good deal after all, cause I was extremely pissed when I found out I wasn't getting my new widescreen DLP TV.
  7. Thanks Griff. How much quality will be sacrificed by using the receiver for a pre-amp vs a true pre amp? I asked about one, but they did not have a pre amp in the entire store. Found that kinda strange, as they carry some pretty good gear.
  8. I have an opportunity to pick up a demo unit for $1650 out the door. I would like to know if this is an exceptional deal or not. I would get the full factory warranty and will be using my Pioneer Elite VSX-24TX receiver for a pre-amp. I am running four Cornwalls for mains/surrounds and a RC-7 center.( Yeah Yeah, timbre match, I know) How much difference can I expect in sound quality with the Sunfire Amp. Thanks for any and all opinions/advice.
  9. I am using four cornwalls and a RC-7 . While there are better timbre matches to be had, I am very happy with my set up. As Garymd stated, it isn't near as bad as some would have you believe. I don't notice the mismatch very often, and the 7 has NO problem keeping up with the Corns. If I had the room, I would use a Vertical Cornwall for center, like eqshadimar, but I don't, so I'll have to make do with what I have.
  10. The only thing that would be a better match is another Khorn, which is possible, but entails some work, as Q-Man will surely attest Get the Scalla, you will never look back!
  11. Sorry, boys. Hillcrest HiFi is no longer the good old local dealer it once was. They have been bought out by Tweeeter, which means they no longer even carry klipsch. How disgusting. I remember walking into their showroom on Hillcrest in 1979 and being able to listen to the ENTIRE Heritage line!
  12. Yeah, and if those don't do it for you, here's some more. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3073238598&category=14993 Sorry, I don't know how to post a live link.
  13. Considerable improvement, and no, all watts are not the same. Ask the tubies over in 2 ch. I am powering my mains with an early 80s ss 150X2 Denon amp, and it has made a nice improvement. Now this amp is by no means in the league with the ones you mention, but it was ~$750 in 1982, so it ain't exactly crap either.
  14. It's a nickname that stuck like glue when I came to work for my company 23 years ago. My boss at that time said "Your last name is too hard to pronounce, we're gonna call you 'Vavoline'." Funny thing is, my last name only has five letters.
  15. DO NOT take the set apart and connect the speakers that way. I sold a 27 in Sony Trinitron to a friend a year or so ago, and it had small speakers attached to the sides of the set, with the speaker wires easily accessible. He cut the wires and hooked them up to a pair of external speaks and it blew the Sony's amp! I guess the impedance was too low on the speakers he hooked up.
  16. Do what you want, but I vote for Rat Shack. I have had nothing but good luck with them.
  17. OMG...did he write "Kill da Waaaabit"?
  18. I remember reading a thread a while back about a kiddie party Mrs M00n was throwing in your HT, and I remember you were a little nervous about it! Just curious, how did that turn out? I assume no major problems as I haven't heard about you having to have a surgical procedure to have your foot removed from some kids rear!LOL Hope all went well and all the kiddies had a good time.
  19. Justin, glad you're still alive! Sorry to hear about your problems at school. I hope everything works out for you. Try to come around more often, as you are missed here.

  21. Most eloquently stated, Clu. I second that emotion.
  22. OK, Dumb a$$ question....How the heck does kain64487 keep getting back on this forum? Moon, I remember when you went to bat for him, couldn't quite figure out why, but I'm glad you figured him out. kain...if you do come to America, may I suggest something you may really enjoy? Find a Toby Keith concert, preferably here in Texas, or his home State of Oklahoma, and stand out front spouting your opinions. I'm sure more than a few fans will show you the "American Way", courtesy of the Red, White and Blue.
