  1. UPDATE: The club installation is happening. It's gonna be the LSI with double bass bins + a few double 18 subs! I need some info, if you guys could help, so I can squeeze the most out of this cool set up without the DJs destroying it. I plan to use DSP for processing and limiting. What we have: Double bass bins LSI with K43 woofers. Tops with K55v and K77m drivers Passive AA crossovers with oil can caps. DSP processor with 8 outs(nexia) and class AB amps (MC2). Questions: 1. To use the passive crossovers or go all DSP and ditch the passives? Combination DSP and passive? 2. To delay the K77m tweeter? Has anyone tried this? Seems like it would benefit from 1-2 feet of delay... 3. To stack the double bass bins side-by-side or vertically? 4. Setting LIMITERS: what is the power handling of K55v and K77m drivers? 5. Recommended crossovers when using the "double bass bins"? Still 400hz or does comb filtering happen? ALSO, looking to purchase JBL shallow cinema subs such as JBL 4642a (pair or quad). I am in Chicago. Hope some of these can be answered to help us present these beauties in the favorable light. Thanks!!
  2. This is a bit off topic but maybe a third possibility for the mids / tops: I am talking about some multicell horns, in case anyone has used one. I have some Dukane 5A320 multicell, 2x4 horns with the JBL 2485 drivers. These look very cool and seems to be made very well. I believe work from 300hz to 5Khz. Can these be used in a 23'x35' room or do these need more "space to breathe"? I have not set these up because my room is even smaller, really no way of testing it yet, properly. Any thoughts on these beasts?
  3. What's going in already is a PAIR of double 18" subs + pair of LSI midbass horns PER CHANNEL. Please see OP. The question is this, once again: What's the best top for this application: single LSI high section (mid+tweeter) VS the K402 (K-691). Will be using DSP as all commercial install do. Limiters and compressors are needed to keep DJs from blowing up system. I will be clear that there are other priorities, in addition to sound quality. Listenability at high SPL. Fun factor over accuracy. thank you!
  4. Aside from the LSI bass bin, I'd like to ask about the high section. The LSI high section (mid+tweeter) VS the K402 (K-691). My question is, in a disco club PA environment, which is the more rugged, more listenable without listener fatigue, at high output. This is not quite an audiophile standard, more like "fun sound", party sound, DJs playing disco, techno, electronic music, etc. It's a club! that is the environment in which I would ask for thoughts on which top would be more appropriate.
  5. Hey guys, wanted to ask for advice pertaining to a set of "split" LSI that I just got, having a PAIR of bass bins per side, single tops. A local venue with a 23'x35' dance floor, needs a new sound system. The plan is to have a vintage feel Klipsch system consisting of two main stacks and small fills for the back of dance area. So basically, I want to get some thoughts on the suitability of LSI's with "dual" bass bins side-by-side (possibly vertical) and SINGLE tops, which will be augmented and sit on top of good subs. Probably a pair or quad of JBL 4642a (double 18" cinema subs). There is a path I have seen here, replacing the LSI tops with K402 horn. Is this a good idea for a disco club application or should I just stick to the standard LSI tops? Here, high output and reliability is very important. But we wanna have the vibe of a real Klipsch system It will make it extra special. Will have to use DSP for crossover, limiting, and possibly some EQ. Thanks guys!
  6. ClaudeJ1, that Q.Pie looks pretty intriguing to me so I am starting to seriously consider it or a variation of. Questions: What is the horn flare rate/type? Is such a fast opening profile necessary or just for ease of building? I ask because I don't have my mid horns in the corners so the Q.Pies would be pulled out into the room, right underneath the mids, where the FH1 is now (potentially, just visualizing at this point). What driver/horn/crossover type did you use above the Q.Pie? thanks!

  8. I have been using Peavey FH1. Is there a design in-between the FH1 (LaScala) and full blown MWM? The MWM is just too big for my space but I can definitely go larger than the FH1 to hopefully get 70-80hz horn

The other woofers mentioned here -- what improvement do they bring over the stock 1504 driver?
  10. While on the topic of FH-1s, which I recently acquired, how does the original Peavey BW 1504 compare to the above mentioned drivers? My FH1s came with the original 1504 driver but I sure would like to know if it's worth replacing it, for better performance! The 1504 looks like a well made 15" Herman

  14. Chris, I have some basic pink noise room measurements of my current system. What type of measurement would you say I need to take? Something that will help me determine if the Jubilee is right for my room or not?

FYI, my current system (see image) Highs: Funktion One Res 1.5 tweeter Mids: Funktion One Res 3 mid The Jubilee would theoretically cross over to the Res3 midrange horn at 230hz, 12db/oct Bessel filter. Coytee, that's a very kind offer. I'll talk to my wife, maybe we can plan a road trip. We like road trips I do!

  17. Chris A, this is home use but higher that normal listening levels. 500sq ft room. Not concert levels by any measure, though. Renting a pair would be an excellent start, if that is possible. I'll have to call Klipsch and ask. Otherwise, I'd be willing to drive a bit and hear them. How close do they need to be to the corner? Right in the corner or some maximum specified distance?

  19. Current 4-way system is already actively quad-amped. Although I am using DSP for the crossover, and it's not as transparent as using no DSP, it will be helpful to delay the mids and highs, if the Jubilee gets installed.

  21. Hello, I've been thinking about trying the Jubilee bass bins. The idea I have is to replace my bass channel (Aura 1808 in reflex box) together with midbass channel (Funktion One F115) with a single Jubilee channel. Of course I'm talking about stereo pair. The frequency range that I need to have covered is 30-250hz. FYI Funktion One F115: https://www.funktion-one.com/products/f115-mk2/ There are a couple of theoretical benefits that I see going from two to one channel in that range: 1. no crossover from 30-250 hz. 2. single elegant solution, use of a horn in conjunction with room corner 3. horn loaded bass + midbass My current bass+midbass is OK but definitely has some sonic issues. The 1808 subs, I have crossing over at 50hz to midbass boxes. This is a pretty seamless transition and does not cause problems in my view. Also this combination never runs out of steam and keeps it's composure at any sale levels in my listening space. The issue is the upper range of the midbass, around 250Hz where it begins to lose definition and starts to sound closed in and thick. So a one channel solution that is proper sounding in it's upper range would be most interesting, considering that the Jubilee is designed to go up to 400hz. This is my concept based on the Jubilee specs and is no way based on real sonic proof of the concept. I have no experience with Jubilee so I am asking for thoughts on this design and the sonics from those who have heard the Jubilee bass bins covering 30-250hz. Also, it would be interesting to hear your views (even theoretical evaluation) of such an approach as the Jubilee offers. Thanks. Herman
