  1. Wouldn't you know it. One of the KT-120s just blew on the SLI-80. Since I have no new tubes right know, I am withdrawing it from consideration. Once its re-tubed (ouch) and checked out, I'll let the forum know. Thanks for responses. Mike
  2. ... and it gives a festive glow for the season.
  3. The buyer's call on whether they stay or go...
  4. Benny says when you have to put your integrated amps on carts to be able to use them, you have too many. He’s probably right. I think the CAD-300SEI is a nearly perfect Single-Ended Triode. This one has a chrome chassis with a black faceplate. While only offering 11 watts per channel of pure class-A power, this unit has all available upgrades: Mundorf capacitors, Hexfreds in the power supply, Grayhill gold plated selector switch, and WBT Speaker terminals. The unit was gone through by Cary this spring and has no issues sonically or cosmetically. Includes an additional new Cary tube set (yes, all five), manual, factory power cord and factory packing. It is a very heavy beast; about 50 pounds. A rough guess with sufficient insurance would $100 or so. The West Coast may be more. Or come by, audition and take it home yourself. $2500 insurance and shipping to you. The amp cart is not included, but if you buy both I might be convinced to add it to the mix, especially if you pick them up. Please email any questions or need additional photos or information. Thanks. Mike
  5. I have a SLI 80 Signature F1 with KT-120s running my La Scalas right now & love it. Dead quiet, reserve power for dynamics.I can also swap it to my very inefficient Spendors and power them similarly. Never had a problem with it, bass delivery or its tubes. It is not forgiving of poor content, however. I also also have a 300-SEI; its perfect with Heresys & La Scalas. Not quite as quiet as the SLI, but it nails vocals with incredible detail. Not as happy running the Spendors. I am happy with both amps, but re-tubing can get to be a drain. Mike
  6. Thank you. I was going to add a Grace tonearm, but after adding that and a cartridge, I decided I'd rather continue in the digital realm. I think I have reached the age having a remote to control playback trumps getting up to flip, clean & play (repeat every 20 minutes or so...). Mike
  7. Christmas is coming; how about a reduction to $250 plus insurance and shipping to you. Or pick it up in Nashville Tennessee. Please email any questions. Thanks. Mike.

  9. As a seller with PayPal, you get no protection if you send items to a different address than PayPal shows. So if he pays and you ship to a different address, he tells PayPal he did not get the item, they request proof of shipment from you and when they see a different address, he gets an automatic refund from your PayPal account. I'd immediately refund the payment through PayPal and tell him the deal is off. Send the gift card back if he sends it. Good luck.
  10. UPS informed me they lost one of the Harbeth speakers I just sold. They know which facility it was last scanned into, but cannot find the box. They said performed a physical search of the premises but cannot locate it. Why do I picture the last scene in "Raider of the Lost Ark" where they wheel the Ark into the warehouse for storage? They also are having difficulty understanding Harbeth speakers are matched pairs and you can't just buy one to replace the one they lost. And the best part is I learned UPS has an internal "rule" that if your package is not delivered within two days of the specified time, they consider it lost. And then you have a whopping 60 days to file a claim. FedEx here we come...
  11. I cannot find it anywhere, but the stated output voltage is .5. My math figures a gain of about 40dB. Thanks. Mike
  12. As I mentioned in another posting, I decided I really do not want a turntable, but began accumulating pieces anyway… So. if you need a phono stage, I have a mint Yaquin moving magnet tube phono preamp (model MS-23B). As the photos show, it's a pretty little thing with exposed tubes, gold plated jacks and switchable voltage. I upgraded the tubes to the very quiet matched Tung Sol 12AZ7 and added silicon dampers. Less than an hour’s use on a friend’s system: it is very very quiet. Includes a power cord and the original tubes. $125 plus insurance and shipping to you. Or pick it up in Nashville Tennessee. Please email any questions. Thanks. Mike
  13. After long thought, I decided I really do not want to have a turntable. Of course, before I made this decision, I started accumulating pieces for playing vinyl… The turntable is a piano black finish, belt drive Elise by Constance Audio. The black finish is complimented by a brushed aluminum finish on the supports and motor cover. Two speeds: 33 & 45. The platter is a massive block of acrylic with a flat pad and small “puck” to hold the LP on the spindle. It is a weighty beast at almost 20 pounds without a tone arm. It comes with a cartridge alignment disc, factory packing and two drive belts. There is NO tonearm. I never used it beyond setting it up for inspection and found no issues except the usual for a piano black finish: dust. $300 plus insurance and shipping to you. Better yet, pick it up in Nashville Tennessee. Please email any questions. Thanks. Mike
  14. If you make it the right size, one of their horns might fit.. or two if you dare. Mike
  15. I can get a step up transformer that can handle the voltage with appropriate wattage, its just the Hertz "mis-match" question I cannot answer. Thanks. Mike
  16. BTW, there is no internal conversion available; it was built for overseas use. Mike
  17. I have been offered a tube amplifier configured to operate at 240 volts / 50 Hertz at a very reasonable price, but I have a concern. While I can buy an appropriate convertor to step up US voltage, that does nothing to modify 60 Hertz to 50 Hertz. As an amplifier, there are no motors, but it has large transformers and I’d hate to damage any components. Do I need a frequency converter as well? Any other options beside walking away? Thanks in advance. Mike
  18. So he has paws and hits keys too many times...
  19. Benny sold his speakers and gets a red meat dinner tonight! Thanks all! Mike
  20. That's one thing I missed. :-) But thanks for the offer & looking. Mike
  21. Now that Benny has new speakers, his old ones need a new home. Cherry Heresy III in very nice shape no particular issues (there is a scratch on the lower side of the one in the left photo that is mostly invisible after polishing the cabinet. There is also a fingernail size “dent” 1/8” deep in the rear edge about the same place). Other than that, they are at least an “8.5” on the cosmetic scale. They have no sonic issues whatsoever. I am including the Deer Creek Audio floor stands as they are specific to the Heresy III. They are powder coated steel filled with ground stone and polymer to deaden. I have wicked acoustic issues in the house and this slight increase in height (8” at the front) tames the reverberation nicely and eliminated any tubbiness in the bass. IMHO I think they look better at this height (JBLs have nothing on Heresys… ).These also place them out or range of the vacuum cleaner. The original risers are included as well. Includes all the paperwork and packing. Feel free to audition if you want to pick them up south of Nashville. I can also meet or deliver within a couple of hours of Nashville. $1100 for pickup; otherwise $1225 for the speakers and stands shipped in the lower 48. While I am new to this forum, I have been on Fleabay for years as ‘michaelwardjones” Please email any questions. Thanks. Mike (& Benny)
  22. Note to self: you can have a cat or La Scalas, but not both...
  23. FWI, while wood varies, the cherry finish on my LS II (2 weeks old) is much darker than my Harbeths (2 years old). The ALS you found may more closely match the tones in your house than your suspect. Ask for a photo. Good luck with your search. mj
