  1. I've been an educator for 21 years...and let me tell you, I have seen some stuff!!! My bullet points: -Standardized tests are a joke! Another way the government collects data. -Good administrators are worth their weight in gold... I've only ever worked for 1 out of 7 in my 21 years. However, districts like to hire a lot and this costs $$$ My school has a principal, 2 assistant principals and a dean of students... a little excessive on a school with about 1000 students -Sports need to either charge what it actually costs to run the programs, or be taken out of schools. My district spends close to $850,000 a year for kids to play sports... and this is just at the middle school level. We only charge a $50 athletic fee! -Get rid of teachers that don't pull their weight! -Pay teachers at a competitive rate. What smart person is going to choose a career whose level of pay keeps decreasing? -Destroy social media! Then parents will actually put down their phones and pay attention to what's happening with their children!
  2. ...oh, and I forgot to mention, they have the original feet! This seems to be a rarity among these speakers!
  3. For sure! I would try what I did on my KG 3.5 and Epic CF3's. Just be careful when sanding. Take just enough off to get rid of the color... you don't want to remove the character of the wood by sanding too deep, or worse yet, burn through the outer veneer layer. When you stain, follow the directions on the can. I always use a rag when staining. After wiping off the stain, I always wait extra long for it to dry... way more than the recommended time. Plus, I have a dehumidifier running in my garage at all times in the summer to keep the humidity at 55%. When finishing, I tend to use Polycrylic or water based polyurethane so that it doesn't yellow. I always use a matte or satin finish as I think semi-gloss and gloss looks horrible, but that's just me.
  4. I used 220 grit sandpaper on a good ol' Dewalt sander. I have an air nozzle that I use while sanding to blow away the dust and to periodically clean off the sanding pad. I usually change the sandpaper after doing each cabinet. They key is not to "oversand" as this will remove some of the grain that is present in the veneer. Although, at times, you have to use a little more pressure in the spots that have deeper scratches/damage to completely remove the blemishes... being careful not to sand through the thin veneer. I don't like to use a chemical stripper to remove the finish as I try to limit my exposure to toxic chemicals. I lost enough brain cells during my college years!
  5. Thanks. The pictures I posted were actually before I put the poly on, so they look a little bit more refined now. I was all excited to get pictures up so they can find a new home quickly. I was almost debating just leaving them the natural oak and just sealing the wood, but I had some leftover stain from when I refinished my CF-3's.
  6. I agree. Pair them with a nice sub and you have an excellent system on a relatively small budget. I figured I wouldn't do the tweeter upgrade, as I will let then next owner have some fun deciding what they want to do to these. Plus, then that would also price them right out of the "good deal" zone.
  7. Someone local just purchased my set of RF-3's I was using as my back surround speakers. (I know, a little overkill, but it's what I had at the time!) When they were auditioning them they saw my refinished CF-3's out of the corner of their eyes. Naturally, he had to ask if they were for sale and of course I made his day by saying yes! After looking at them he asked if he could come back in the near future and audition them! So, hopefully they will have a new home soon!

  9. Up for your consideration is my refurbished KG 3.5 Project. They started out as most KG's often do... the drivers are in excellent condition but the cabinets have seen some abuse over time. So, I purchased them and went to work. Sanded down, stained and sealed! And of course, I washed the grills.... it's amazing (and disgusting) how much dirt these collect over the years! I'm asking $200. Local pickup in Illinois...Southwest suburbs. (Big Rock)You can audition in my garage... I can provide the beverages!
  10. These are pretty beat up. I would love to get my hands on them to refinish/repair, but it's a local sale only.
  11. If they appraised at 20K, I would let my kids at 'em and do what kids do best, and after the dust settles, I would collect the insurance $$ and buy a really nice set of speakers! (Just kidding, I would never really do that, and people who scam the system like that annoy me!) But hey, If you're looking for a nice set of Epic CF-3's I have a pair for $900.... and I can even say they appraise at 1 million if you like!
  12. I know this is 4 years later, but I have the OEM driver if you're still looking. I have 2 in perfect condition. $120 for both or $65 for 1.
  13. Original equipment 8” Klipsch K-1083-SB woofers. Absolutely in perfect condition. These are becoming very difficult to find these days, as the new replacement versions have a different dust cap arrangement. These are the direct replacement for and will fit: RF-3, RF-3 II, RF-35, RF-5, RC-7, RF-82 II This is a great opportunity to return your speakers to perfect original condition if you have damage to one (or more) of your drivers. I can have it connected in my garage to verify that it works to your satisfaction. I'm asking $120 for the pair or $65 for just one. I am located in the Southwest suburbs of Chicago near Naperville, IL. I'm looking for local pick up only at the moment. If they don't sell locally after a bit, I will entertain the idea of shipping as I do have the plastic shipping covers to protect the cones.
  14. I know it's been a bit, but may I ask what the 82's sold for? Thanks.
  15. It is a wiping stain by MasterBrand Cabinets INC The color is Cinnamon. It's the same stain Thomasville Cabinets uses with their upper line of kitchen cabinetry. It's quite tricky to use as you have to wipe an entire side all within a couple seconds. If you let it dry for more than a couple seconds it will wipe the stain off if you go over a spot you think needs more product. (I learned that the hard way when I was staining a counter top I built to go over my washer/dryer. Grr!) I am planning on refinishing a set of black KLF 20's I have, but I might actually try some other finishing techniques on the KLF's to see what I can come up with.
  16. I used to crank this song back in college. (Not my favorite song as this in not usually my genre of choice, but it brings back memories!) KMFDM -Juke Joint Jezebel (Mortal Kombat RMX)
  17. Unfortunately, as some of us have fallen victim to with online dating, looks can be deceiving in pictures! These are the 2.5" ports. However, they are the Version 2 as they have the thicker clear coated wiring and the thicker woofer cones.
  18. Sold as of 6/9/2020.They went to a good home of a guy that wanted to rediscover 2 channel audio in his smaller condo.
  19. New link.... with more pics and now $275 https://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/ele/d/sugar-grove-klipsch-epic-cf1/7138118856.html
  20. I have them listed here for $900 for members. On CL and US Audio Mart for $950.
  21. They were pretty rough! They looked okay in the pictures..... but, not so much in person!
