Kenrat, I have my rb-3's hooked up to an old Sansui 50 watt receiver and it can power those little rb's to ear splitting levels, with power to spare. I would not hesitate to get the pairing you suggest.

I recently purchased a vintage Sansui amp to power my RF-3's for 2-channel music. These speakers are already my main speakers for my home theater. I know that Niles produces an amplifier selector box (DPS-1). Does anyone have any better suggestions?

Never mind... false alarm. It was my Thermo Solutions digital thermometer that sits on top of one of my RB-3's. Apparently the batteries are dying. I swore it was coming through the speakers. Oh well I guess I need some sleep or something. I havn't even been drinking. LOL

I recently bought a Sansui G-4700 receiver for a 2-channel second system. I was watching TV tonight, with sound going through the receiver for about 3 hours. All of the sudden there was a rapid beeping noise coming through my RB-3's. It sounded a lot like the alarm from a digital watch. I started to turn the volume down, which did not effect the volume of the beep, and it finally stopped. I listed a while longer and it has not come back yet. What could this be? Was it overheating and giving me a warning or what? The G-4700 is a more vintage Sansui, circa 1980 I believe... HELP!

I agree with b-man1 on this one. I would also add that Klipsch is an extreme value in the audio world. Who else has so much sound for a relatively low price? I think that some of these so called "Audiophiles" feel threatened that Klipsch owners have a quality product that can compete with speakers costing four to five times as much money. This makes all of their multi-thousand dollar speaker systems seem less valuble for lack of a better word. I have heard some speakers that I thought were really accurate and detailed, but they cost five times what my Klipsch do... I think I will stick to what I have, thank you.

I have a SVS CS25-31 (tuned to 20 Hz) driven by a 105 watt Onkyo amp (right side only) and it powers the sub vey nicely. I personally like the flexiblity of being able to upgrade to a larger amp later. Also keeps the cost down for now. My advise... use the Denon to power one of their passive models.

I know the LK-72 was a kit version, but what was its factory equivalant? Also what is its rated power? Thanks in advance.

Here's what was in the description... "Completely rebuilt with power supply caps, coupling and bypass caps and output tubes. New bias supply and all new tube set. 30 + RMS per side using PP7591A tubes." Is there anything else that I should be looking for?

I think $700 for a fully restored Scott299C sounds a little pricey... am I wrong?

I am considering buying a tube amp. For now I will listen with my RF-3's, and will later go back to my favorite... Heritage series. Question 1 - I am considering buying a Scott 299, or something similar to get started. Good choice? Question 2 - Does anybody else use tubes with the Reference series? Question 3 - How many of us growing up with 2 channel are now getting bored with home theater, or am I just odd?

I know these were produced around the early eighties. As I remember they were a very nice cartridge. When I went stereo shopping with my Dad in the early eighties, he opted for a Signet MM cart. instead, but I don't remeber if it was due to sound quality or if he didn't want to mess with the added transformer. Maybe someone else could elaborate a little more.

BTW the remote on this receiver is terrible. That is my only real complaint. I use a backlit universal remote, so I threw factory one in a drawer.

I purchased the SA-HE100 several months ago, because my Denon AVR-2801 died. I thought I would only have it for a short time, while I saved up for a Denon 3803. My plan was then to move the Panasonic to my family room and do 6.1 channel there. I am leaving it in my HT setup beacause it sounds great! I know there are a lot of Denon fans (which I used to be one of), and others who spend big bucks on receivers and separates. I feel that for the $ this thing can't be beat. Very clear and natural sounding and never distorted. This thing has belted out everything I've given it. I have waited to change my signature line, because I thought I would not be using the Panasonic long, but it will stay. The other point I would like to bring up is that I have had a Denon receiver and Onkyo integrated amp. that have died. They can be fixed, but the cost to fix them is twice what this receiver costs. If receivers are not going to last longer than that, why spend the big bucks. Another point I have is that 6.1 will soon be commonplace, if not already. There are always new surround formats on the horizon and when they come out everybody ditches there two-year old receiver and spends another $800 + to get the latest and greatest. With this Panasonic, I will not feel the least bit of anxiety replacing it in a few years, to upgrade to 10.1, or whatever else my be coming. Plus it gives me more money to spend on Klipsch! Sorry for the rant. Just wanted to say what's on my mind.

Does anyone have an opinion on the sonic differences between these two bookshelf speaks? I will be using them on either side of my TV in the family room which is sittting in the corner. The room is approx. 14' X 20'. I have to stay small, because the Wife does not like large speakers in the family room. I save those for my basement retreat. Thanks in advance.

I don't know much about the current Pioneer stuff, but I can tell you that even pushed at hard levels my Denon (only 85 w/ch) has never shut down. Shutting down is not necessarily a bad thing if you are driving the amps into clipping, but with the efficiency of our Klipsch, I doubt it will be an issue. I would reccommend upgrading the receiver to a Denon AVR-3802 (a perfect match with Klipsches). Next I would get that SVS sub. I used to have a KSW-12 myself, thought it was adequate, bought the SVS and... WOW! I didn't know that much bass was attainable unless I spent $2000 or more on a sub. That will make a HUGE difference in HT and music. If the funds are available after all this I would upgrade the fronts to RF-7, center RC-3 and move the RF-5's for rear surround. Move the RF-3's to side surround (receiver is 7.1). IMHO that would be a killer HT system! Larry, I just bought a SVS 25-31CS with a 22Hz tuned port. I must say, I have never heard a more accurate sub. It is tight, punchy, fast, but linguring when it needs to be. And I even used to sell hi-end stuff several years ago. There are some drastic differences between Heresy's and RF-3II's. Obviously, the entire RF series would be a better tonal match. Since tonal matching is ideal for HT, I would go with the RF series all the way around. If you were looking for music 95% and HT 5%, I would go with the Heresy's, because they have a more accurate, dynamic and live sound for music IMHO. I have owned both Heresy's and currently RF series. Niether one of these are bad choices, just one is more appropriate than the other. By the way, SVS is an excellent choice for a sub. Just bought one... Try SVS CS series. You then have the flexability to use whatever amp you want. It is sort of like DIY, only you have the experts at SVS doing the really hard work of cabinet and driver matching. It's been exactly one week since "Brown" arrived at my door with the SVS. I took it down to the HT, hooked it up to my spare amp, set levels with the R.S. SPL meter. WOW!... this thing can handle anything you throw at it! I am going through all my music and CD's again to hear what I have been missing all these years. Tom V., you and your company are a class act. I hate to promote a non-Klipsch product, but when you get a product like this, with customer support like this, you want to tell everyone. I think it's time to listen to some more depth charges... hmmm... Belial, I was asking for ways to get more bass, at the time I had a KSW-12. Instead of going up to a bigger model, you suggested trying SVS. I checked out their site and decided "these guys know what they're talking about". I'll give you a review when it arrives, but I whimped out and got the 25-31CS instead of the plus. I will probably have to upgrade to a different amp - I may also decide I want two of them.

I must thank belial for suggesting a SVS sub. I just ordered a SVS 25-31CS Plus. I can't wait until it comes.
