  1. Oh but yes we can influence "who they are".Just ask Art Dudley,FORMER head twit at the now DEFUNCT "Listener" now masquerading as the witty, sensitive, politically correct audio guru over at "Stereophool".He is SO enlightened he refers to people that like the music of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Journey as "goobers".Wonder if his gear reviews are just as objective? Analogman Someone please get those damn soap boxes away from me
  2. Hello, There was a time when I felt some respect for and enjoyed "Stereophool".I am (was) a long time subscriber (twenty plus years). My last issue will be this September's.Without hopping up on the soap box,all I have to say is that in my OPINION "Stereophool" in it's present condition is crap,a self-serving flavour of the month rag which owes it's current success to it's ability to fuel the insecurities of the poorly informed;read inexperienced and insecure. It's only redeeming quality is that it does provide SOME eye candy not unlike a good titty magazine.Sorry to rant,Paul Parrot already made my point for me with concise precision, less the diatribe. As Always, Analogman
  3. What a little scum-bag!I thought it at the time, (the charity amp project)but I am saying it now.You boys were suckered!A grand-plus for used ADS,what a reversal of financial fortune(s).I make MY children work for it. As always, Analogman
  4. Paulparrot, Your post regarding the blatant hypocrisy and self-righteousness which seems to florish on this forum moves me to tender for your consideration an apology for misguided remarks I have made towards you in the past.Your intellect was always obvious to me,now I am certain the quality and priciple of your character is in line as well. Respectfully, Analogman
  5. Gentlemen, I'm talking CHEAP,as in throw away sub-one hundred dollar cheap.Thank you for your input. Analogman
  6. Gentlemen, I have recently put a modest system in the bedroom. It consists of decent mid-fi(early 1970s) pieces I have picked up along the way and given a second lease on life.I am now in need of an inexpensive CD player which is at least as good as a passable portable,my only absolutes are that it must have a remote and not induce ear hemorrhaging. There was a thread not too long ago in which someone was sharing with regards to a cheap player that seemed to be the ticket but I can't remember whom. The player in question seemed to be quite the over-achiever.I do not care if the suggestions are for "no name" players.I am going to use this for background and make-out music. Thank you for your time, Analogman
  7. Plagiarism is plagiarism and it matters not how "nice" or skilled the plagiarist may be.The tales of aircraft engines also demonstrates that it can, given the appropriate circumstances be quite profitable. That being said all the information regarding Mr.Shinall's wholly altruistic motives had to be solicited.Never a nod to P.W.K. except the representations on the website which infer the designs to be by "Shinall".There is such a thing as a sin of omission,Bose has used this technique for years. And lastly, based on what I have seen and heard so far this gentleman certainly has one awfully impressive "hobby shop". I thought this was the "KLIPSCH" forum. Analogman
  8. Gentlemen, My eldest brother joined the Navy in 1968,after two tours of combat (attached to a Marine Corp operation)he served out his "lifer" tenure (30 years) working in supply and logistics. His work required an extremely high level security clearance "Classified".He is currently working with a group providing specialized support services to NASA of a secure nature.I share this biography only to lend credibility to my source when I say that I know for a fact that the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps still procure and thus I would assume, use, paper in oil capacitors for something but I do not know the specific details of their applications.NASA makes some rather interesting tube purchases as well.I will inquire as to any possible incident of their interest in PIO caps. 14. Gentlemen, If one were to use this unit should you use taps that reflect the speakers used. The sheet that comes with the unit is very vague and simply states it presents a constant load,no specs.,at least with mine. Thanks again, Analogman
  15. Thank you, I checked the "Dynaco" website and saw the QD-II.Looks the same except for better cosmetics.Mine is a very heavy unit for its size but the control knobs are very cheap plastic.I am glad this thread popped up as mine has been sitting in the closet as well.I was hesitant to hook it up to my tube rig for fear of impedance issues. If someone would comment on this issue it would be greatly appreciated. Thank You, Analogman
  16. Gentlemen, I have a unit as follows;Dynaco QD-I Series II-L,distrubuted by the Pancor Corp.Is this the same unit you are discussing? If it is and anyone is interested,J&R Music World WAS selling them as a close-out item for $20. Analogman

Well DeanG,you asked, While sitting in my most uncomfortable chair with "Bedtime Stories" playing at "live" levels and a cold St.Pauli Girl within my reach.Sometimes with clothes-pins(wooden only)on my nipples and my wife in the room modeling lingerie.Sometimes I like to smoke an OpusX while all this is going on Sharing IS fun! Thanks Guy!
