  1. what do you need to know? My brother races at a pro level, I could ask him whatever you'd need to know and I could probably answer alot of the questions myself. Not too long ago he was ranked nationally as the best amature racer, and 11th nation wide overall. About leagues....Typically you'd join a local bike club, which are plentifull around where I live, and they give you team jerseys and everything you need (and discounts on bike parts and equipment because the clubs are usually affiliated with a bike shop). Races are devided into catagories (usually just called Cats for short). There are Cat 1's, 2's, 3's, 4's, 5's, masters, and juniors. At your age you'd be put in the junior cat, and when you were old enough you'd be put into cat 5 (or higher if you were capable of it). Then over time you progressively move up in rank until you get to cat 1, which is the level that the pro's ride at.
  2. I challange you to find an authorized dealer with 100% customer satisfaction pinipig...or find some way to discredit the countless unsatisfied customer complaints about ebay (I was one of the many who got the shaft buying from someone who looked to have a good record). Do that and your attitude might be warranted.
  3. and, if you buy things on yahoo shopping, you get a history of feedback of that "e store" so you can make a calculated risk on whether or not to buy from them. I have ordered 2 pairs of speakers, a center channel, and a subwoofer from www.acousticsounddesign.com and they've always given me great service, none of the products have ever been damaged, and they always ship on time.
  4. I've ordered lots of stuff from them and have never gotten swanked, I don't see why not.
  5. A pair of Verity Audio Lohengrins. A pair of McIntosh MC-501 power amps. A McIntosh C2200 preamplifier. An SACD player worthy of being connected to $60,000 speakers, and $12,000 worth of McIntosh electronics.
  6. you're going to want something fairly powerful, as the RB-25's will be pretty strong in the mids and highs, but very weak down low. I'd bet that they start to get weak at closer to 60-63ish hz vs. the 50 mentioned, or 49 posted on the spec sheet.
  7. Aside from that picture of the RSW-15, I have seen other pics of it in normal MDF where the internal braces where different than those shown on on the plexiglass demo model. I'm not sure how much different they are because it was unclear in the picture, but it would be something to keep in mind.
  8. I ordered mine for about that price from www.acousticsounddesign.com
  9. I was bothered at first by klipsch's seemingly deteriorating image, but no longer. The lower end reference line have their place, which seems to be a price bridge between the Synergy and Reference line. Also, it is nice to have the option of getting Reference quality in a smaller package like the RF-15's, though I do not like the RW series at all. Also, I'd bet good money there will not be new speakers introduced to the Heritage series...not anytime soon anyway.
  10. what type of tubes are they? some of the small input tubes don't get very hot, others like KT-88's will give you a burn if you put your hand on them. If you're not getting any sound at all out of them there is either a problem with the tubes themselves or something in your amp, perhaps they aren't getting enough voltage? It should not take 45 mins to get sound out of them, all the tube gear I have will play almost instantly if need be.
  11. I think that multichannel will survive and I think if anypthing it will pick up. SACD I think will end up beating out DVD-A.
  12. if I were you I'd go with a cheaper receiver and spend more money on the speakers. That will yeild a better performance to cost ratio, and I think you'd be more satisfied with the results.
  13. have you ever thought about using an outboard EQ? they aren't to pricey and I tihnk you'd be able to just put it inbetween the sub and the sound card. That should do the job for you.
  14. it would be great to see the pistons win not only because they're the underdog but because payton and malone both went to such lengths to get to the lakers team in pursuit of a championship win...selfish bastards.
  15. the old players were more accurate, and detroits shooting is....near embarassing alot of the time. if they were a good shooting team but maintained the way they currently play they'd be a very dangerous team to face. Ben and Rasheed Wallace are both feirce defensive players, especially Ben. the ball comes anywhere near him and he'll get his hands on it. his numbers say it all. he takes 2nd place in the league for offensive and defensive rebounds, and blocks, but he can't shoot (and is in fact the leagues all time worst free throw shooter). hamilton hasn't been able to heat up much either. but yeah they did a great job of covering the lakers key players. bryant did practically nothing, and shaq was kept under control.
  16. I think it's more the pistons defense being excellent than the lakers just playing sub par. If you look at the earlier eastern games they were always very low scoring, especially the pistons and pacers because both teams are so good defensively. The lakers are an offensive team that seems to have gotten used to getting open lanes and shots, the pistons aren't giving those to them and they're suffering because of it.
  17. you can get them new, but I think they're around $3,000.
  18. ---------------- On 6/9/2004 10:23:54 AM TBrennan wrote: picky---Well actually I consider any interest in professional sports beyond a casual one stupid. Following sports and watching lots of games is hardly an intelligent activity. High school and college sports are a little different as there is a communal connection between the fans and players; you have the boola-boola thing going. But that should fade to a more casual interest after graduation, you know, when you should be doing adult things like earning a living and raising your kids to not be idiots. ---------------- the same could be said of your interest in music. why do you enjoy listening to professional recording artists and bands? why did your interest in music not stop at the higschool/college level? you find enjoyment in listening to professional artists because they creat a product that you find enjoyable, and realize that you yourself could never create. that is why you, and the rest of us pay to have recordings to listen to (or go to the trouble of stealing it). for pro sports folowers there is no difference. their passion is a game rather than music, which, when broken down, is no more "childish" or "stupid" than music.
  19. what is your size limitation? One of the Dayton Audio Titanic kits would probably do you well, or if you want to go copmletely DIY you could skip the kit and build your own cab.
  20. Not trying to offend you, but I think you'd be happier NOT knowing the true response of your sub. A db meter would probably reveal that it dropped off even earlier than 27 hz and that 27 was the point at which it had no power. Subs in this range are typically meh...They seem good for awhile but then you start understanding and realizing their limitations, and they become more of an annoyance than a system enhancer. If I were buying, I'd try to save up a few hundered more and get something like an entry level SVS. I think in the long run you'd be far more satisfied with that than you could ever be with the DCM.
  21. what's wrong with the sub costing more than the mains? it should. you're buying an amp, crossover, drivers, and a large enclosure.
  22. TheRSW line uses a better driver with a larger more capable magnet structure which allows it to put out a cleaner more accurate sound. Also, the RSW line uses a passive radiator instead of a port. A passive radiator works by using the air displaced by the active radiator, which causes a change in internal cabnit pressure, to move in and out accordingly. A port is just a tuned opening in an enclosure. Passive radiator designs tend to be more accurate and tight sounding than ported designs, because the passive radiator provides some resistance to the active driver and puts it under more pressure to return to the resting position. Aside from these major factors in enclosure design, the RSW line also uses a higher end amplifier. It is of higher capacitance and output capability than the RW series amplifiers and allow better control over the driver, which also contributes to the RSW's tight, quick sound. From an Asthetics standpoint, the RSW line also wins, hands down. If the difference isn't already obvious from the online pictures, running your hand over the subs will tell whatever the pictures do not. The RSW line uses a real wood veneer rather than vinyl, which really is quite a bit more pleasing to the eyes and hands. Also, the plastic work on the RW line feels and looks very cheap, and doesn't seem like something that would hold up over time. In terms of output, the RSW-12 is the RW-12's superior by 6 decibles at 30 hz, with an almost identical frequency range. Although the RW-12 is rated at 21hz -3db and the RSW-12 is -3 at 22hz, I do think that the RSW-12 would have a bit more power at those levels.
