  1. OK, Ozzy, I see you made it over here. One thing about Hi-Eff speakers as you probably know is that they are physically big. Which makes them harder to audition than others. It took me a awhile to hear my first Khorns and I have yet to hear Jubilees. You are in an area where there are more opurtunies than I am, so I am sure that you'll eventually find some. LIsten to Khorns, Jubilees any Hi-Effs you can find. Also, Don't forget other Horns. A friend of mine has a pair of Oris Horns, on top of some Altec bass Bins that simply sound wonderful. I have also heard Avantagard Horns and while very Pricey also sound Great. If you don't get any bites on this post, ask what Klipsch Forum members are in your area and if they are open to auditions. Most are. I have had a few forum members over to my place. When I did eventaully decide on a Pair of Khorns, it took me about 8 months to find a used pair close enough to drive over and pick them up. 700 Miles round trip. That was 8 years ago and pretty much got me off the 'speaker' merry go round'.I can't ever see myself getting any other speaker than a Horn Midrange. The Dynamics are unsurpassed !
  2. Saw them on E-bay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wood-Wave-Guide-Horn-Tweeter-Driver-Home-Audio-Klipsch-K-77-replacements-/130961313550?pt=US_Pro_Audio_Speaker_Drivers_Horns&hash=item1e7de70f0e
  3. Not surprised. When I read your first post, I was thinking that it was something else.
  4. What Capacitor Upgrades did you get and what was the upcharge? I've got one on order.
  5. I just placed an order for an NBS Linestage. According to Craig he will be shipping by Late August ! I also plan on getting a Wood Case for it like Mike Lindsey did. I wonder if there are different Wood Options? Maybe Mike will Chime in?
  6. Checking in from the Serengeti in Kenya, Africa........ It's the least I can do as Craig helped me restore my Fisher 500B.....
  7. A photographic Safari in Tanzania and Kenya....Not Hunting......Currently in a National Park in Tanzania.
  8. Craig, I can verbally commit to a linestage right now.....I am in Africa right now on Safari and will be able to firm it up when I get back. Sorry about the difficulties you are facing right now with your wife....I hope everything works out great for you!
  9. To actually qualify for an offical record, you have to have a 'Class Leader'.....No bigger than 20 lbs. ....We were using 60 lbs. and were not after a record. You also have to pretty much kill the fish to get an accurate weight on a certified scale and measurements. I had a Fly Fishing record at one time back in 1983 for a Silver Salmon...Lots of Hassle though. I have a couple of the pictures I posted laminated to a Gulf of Mexico Map with the Fly mounted on it in my fly tying room in my basement....and lots of memories. Good enough for me!....Thanks.
  10. I managed to Luck into a once in a Lifetime Fish May 16th in the Florida Gulf. North of Homosassa. It was the Largest Tarpon my Guide has ever had to his Boat. It was well over 200 lbs. according to him. (His description on the Photo, is better than mine - He posted this on his Facebook Page). He fishes Tarpon 120 Days a year and has seen a lot of Tarpon. The Fish was hooked on a relatively tiny 1/0 Puglisi Peanut Butter Fly. I fought the fish for 1 hour and 50 minutes. I was tired enough that I did not fish for 2 days after that and surrendered the Bow to my Fishing Buddy, who jumped 5 but did not manage to land any. I thought I would let my Good Buddies at the Klipsch Forum my good fortune. Probably the Highlight of my entire fishing life. Am I going Back next year? Hell Yeah! This forum always chops off the right side of the picture. To see the whole picture right click on it then Click View Image.
  11. I'm not a musician; I only play the air guitar. I don't know Tim Lyles.
  12. Thanks for the invite Pat!....It was a very impressive sounding system!. ....For those of you who don't know what we were listening to, I'll try to describe it. The system consisted of a pair of very Large JBL speakers with two woofers each (I'm guessing about 15 inches and sandwiched between was a smaller horn for the Mids and highs. Then he had a Massive Subwoofer (More on that later). He was driving these speakers with a massive solid state system...Bridged amps that put out over 2,0000 watts per channel. Definitely a different direction than this SET amp guy here. The system sounded very good, lots of detail and dynamics. Then there was the Bass. I am not exaggerating here when I say that the house shook. Juniper can back me up on this...He was seriously worried about the foundation of the house and at one point a plate was knocked off the wall in the kitchen. I was actually starting to levitate off of my chair at one point and the thought of internal organ damage did cross my mind. I remarked that small animals in the neighborhood were probably being stunned, if not downright killed. The whole system made a pair of Klipschorns sound tiny and insignificant. While the system was impressive,it will not be something that I will strive for in my own. Since I listen to small jazz combos in clubs such as the Dakota in downtown Minneapolis; I have never heard any of them put out sound like this either. I would imagine that ZZ top in your living room with all of their amps could approach this level of performance however. Then we put the K402 in the system replacing the JBL horns. I liked what I heard, although very limited, as I had to leave early. Much more mid-range texture, I felt. Even though they had the stock drivers. Pat said that most replace them with TADs. I can see why people like them. They would not pass my wife's aesthetic tests however, even if the basement is mine. After I got home, I turned on my tiny Khorns and it took me about a half hour to adjust to their tiny Transistor like radio sound.
  13. I have an Adroid Mini Tablet and I use the Squeezebox App with it. Yes, it does work great!
  14. I have not put in a CD in over 2 years. I have all my music on a desktop 2TB hard drive. I stream all music with a squeezebox touch fed into an Electric Minimax DAC. The last year, I have gone almost exclusively to MOG (A streaming service with over 1 million Albums). 320 kbps. A lot of albums are re-mastered audiophile quality. I pay $5 a month for MOG. I never need to buy music anymore. Probably saves me about $300-$400 a year. I rarely play anything anymore from my own music library. I take my small squeezebox when I travel to a rental house too.
  15. Yes, don't get caught up in that 192 thing..... I thought this was a 'transport' thread and now I see it has morphed into a DAC thread.....I'll throw my 2 cents in...I have auditioned DACs from $200 to $4000 and truthfully have had a very hard time differentiating between them. It is one component that sounds pretty much the same to me. I admit to not having 'Golden Ears' and that may be a blessing, as I just listen to a lot of music. I settled on a EE Minimax Tube Dac, because it was about $800 and I liked the features and build quality. I've Also Got a Grant Fidelity Tube DAC-09 upstairs that was about $300 or so, i think.
  16. I think you only have to look at it lasting only a few years. There have been many developments in how music is sourced over the last 20 years and how digital is stored and played. There will be many products coming that will offer more and more. My 3 Squeezeboxs all cost less than my 1 tubed CD player and have all performed flawlessly for over 2 years. A squeezebox touch is not an end-all product in the area of source. I view them as a transistion product for which there is currently not a good replacement. But I believe that there will be a better product coming.
  17. My whole audio system is EOL.[] .....From my 1935 Power Tubes to my Modified Altec/Khorns. Pretty much everything I own is obsolete.
  18. What I did was buy a Squeezebox Touch. They are discontinued now, but show up on e-bay...Their price has been rising however.
  19. Pat, I have that also on my Meshplate Power Tubes. I think it's normal. When things heat they expand, change shape etc. I wouldn't worry about it.
  20. LOL!....I know what you mean. I have a group of 5 PIO Russian Caps packed into a bundle that looks exactly like TNT.... I would never get near a plane with them!
  21. Some things I can hear quite easily, others not so much. If the 'High-End' Gear is expensive and I can hear the difference, I buy it. SET amps are very pleasing to my ears as are Klipschorns. Cables....Not PIO Russian Caps are just as Cheap as any, so I buy them.
