  1. It does lack power chords. Maybe some Angus Young axe-grinding and a cold Bud will fix you up after your disappointment. Remember to puke responsibly.
  2. What manufacturer would want to say that their speakers sound best with Brand X wire? Would esoteric speaker cables make lamps perform better? I remember a beer ad which read, "If your beer needs a lime, then you're drinking a lemon."
  3. If this is already a common link, I apologize for the duplication. But scroll down to the bottom and take a look at those early models! http://www.paulwklipsch.net
  4. ---------------- Why do you guys treat each other so badly? ---------------- (Moon, the term is "catty.") It is a rite of passage of manhood to walk into a room of guys and call them all buttholes or losers, anything other than sounding like a girl. Where is that story about the two jerks who got into a fight in a stereo store over cable lifters, or whatever those things are called? THAT is not a guy thing, that IS being a butthole. It is a lot different here on the forums. Ever watch Parliament proceedings on BBC? Or Canadian prime minister debates? Then you understand soccer.
  5. About five years ago in a discreet A/V lounge (okay it was a store), I saw a video shot from within the vehicle, possible Ferrari or such, driving alone on open stretches of European highway at very high speeds. You could see the speedometer on the lower part of the screen. It looked to have been shot in the winter. Anyone ever see this? I would like to find a copy. (But only if it is legal wink-wink-nudge-nudge.)
  6. Why? Couldn't a good PP & Horn setup sound just as good if not better? Are those "theater" speakers? I don't get it. Just looks like excess to me.
  7. ---------------- Where have all the stereos gone? ---------------- "Far, far away." (I am surprised someone else did not post this.)
  8. ---------------- That is too much. I have a pair of 846U which I got for the price of a cheap tie. But that was a once in a lifetime occurance. The going price on eBay is around $500. ---------------- Forgive me. ebay auction 3080228696 This is now hot property.
  9. Last Saturday, I sat at a dinner table listening to someone vehemently claiming that the brutality was unrealistic. I seemed to recall, from my bible-reading, that the Christ was beaten beyond recognition. So I looked it up and there it is in Isaiah 52:14 "His appearance was was marred more than any man. And his form more than the sons of men." Not to make this an issue, but I guess if "Mel" wanted to be accurate, he certainly made sure that he was. But there were also a couple of Catholic-only items that are not in context. I guess if anyone wanted to do a movie about the Crusades, Catholics would either cringe and stutter or go out of their way to apologize for this very dark chapter of their church. I think this movie will make everyone think about atrocities of all kinds and the blindness of those who inflict undue punishment on innocents. Well, at least it is a hope. "I may be dreamer, but I'm not the only one." (Too bad Lennon believed only in himself. Humanness does not inspire much when your legacy is a life of drugs, sex and rock and roll.)
  10. Would YOU let those guys into your stereo sanctuary?
  11. ---------------- Also, much of it to me is like doing 95mph down a road marked for 40 -- you hit a tree -- and then blame the car manufacturer. ---------------- Only because it is easier than blaming God for allowing a tree to grow there.
  12. Nice pictures. In February, 1981, I rode in the back of an old Mercedes from Mammoth Mtn. to Mission Viejo. The view along the bottom of the Sierras on a moonlit night still stands in my memory.
  13. While we are at it, let's redefine a few other terms that may be obstacles to a utopian society. Why does everybody have to be accepted by everyone else? And if they are not, then should we by law be forced to accept everyone, regardless of who or what they are? This is the greatest slippery slopy: for you to be forced by law to accept me though you don't like me or my beliefs. The moment a judge says you have to accept me into your group, or whatever, you lose your freedom. (Do we want all judges and ministers to be forced by law to perform S/S marriages?) Giving margin groups leverage to change the language of law is dangerous for everyone, or at least for other margin groups.
  14. ---------------- 3. If the law is changed back (as the Pres. seems to want) what happens to the people that are already married? Annulment? ---------------- The law of the land has never changed from the traditional definition of marriage. Those marriages are invalid. Some rogue judges are seeking to make political hay out of a non-issue in an election year. These marriages are an attempt at stealing benefits, not just at making a statement. A true liberal would eschew the institution of marriage as social conformity. Changing traditional definitions opens a Pandora's box to challenge and attempt to redefine almost anything that segregates lawful from unlawful.
  15. ---------------- While reading reviews I've run across these terms: "dry", "chalky" and "whitish" ... ---------------- It sounds like the author is familiar with powdery substances.
  16. Liam Acceptance Factor obviously very high!
  17. The item was advertised as in "perfect WORKING order." A tear does not affect the sound unless it is major. Dude, you was lied to. You paid his price. You should refuse the refund. Then file a complaint on eBay and file for resolution. This is fraud. Auction purchases are contractual and not refundable or breakable by the seller unless the buyer agrees. The item can only be retracted from auction before it is bought. Fight it. It is worth it. $225.00?! I would be really upset. This seller made a big mistake and he is unwilling to admit it. His integrity is worth about $500, the difference between what he sold it for and what he could possibly get. Call him. You can get his info through eBay. If you don't want it, I am sure someone here would give you $400+ for it here on the forum even if it is imperfect. I may be wrong, but I doubt it. This stuff has to stop.
  18. Or is it me, all my clocks, my watch, my cell phone, my computers, and the televison?
  19. ---------------- Am I the only one who sees these pictures large and blurry? ---------------- Easily remedied. In Explorer, go to: Tools - Internet Options - Advanced - Multimedia - check Enable Automatic Image Resizing That should do it. If you want to resize them for posting, open it in MS Paint. Resize it there to about 400 pixels vertical max and/or 500 pixels wide max. That is easily viewable for 600x800 viewing for those with lower resolution screens on their laptops. But if you change the setting in IE, it will automatically resize the picture on your screen so you can see the whole thing.

Look at the short postings. The moniker, avatar, cutesy membership status, "total posts," "last post," and "member since" take up more vertical space than a short three line post. I presume you are using a template BB software. Different layouts should be considered if you want to conserve space. Frankly, do we really want to see everyone's setup in their signature? If you want to flaunt it, link it. A lot of space is wasted on seeing everyone's rigs on every post. A simple link with an "updated" post is sufficient. Just a thought or two. "insane poster"
  23. To turn the equation around, what main speakers are worth buying an Academy for? Why not just upgrade the mains and buy a cheaper center? Unless you have a religious devotion to Klipsch, why not jut buy a whole new set of HT speakers like the reference series? I bought my Academy from someone who upgraded to B&W Nautilus mains and center, but regretfully said the Academy was a better center. Well, I guess I just may have answered my own question.
  24. You'd think that if there is a vintage Scott tube amp on the Listening Lounge, there would be an allowance of support for those who own them by "pimping" their craft on the boards. Heck, if one NEEDS vintage tube gear to make a Klipsch speaker sound its best, pimping should be CONDONED.
