  1. I've always been a woman when it comes to watching scary movies. On occasion, I just have to leave the room.
  2. You think she's feeling better now. Just wait till she hears em!
  3. Tony - You'll be happy as a pig in.... well you know how it goes. There is really no down side to your purchase at that price if they work (which they obviously do). Grills are easy to make and finishing your own speakers the way you like can be more satisfying sometimes also. Congrats and let us know how they sound when you get them home.
  4. I should be able to scan and send emails pretty easily. I'll try to get to it this weekend.
  5. Sorry. I wasn't clear. I would be glad to scan you a copy. I'm not willing to part with the originals.
  6. If I hadn't found this forum a few months ago I never would have thought to buy a 40 year old tube amp for my cornwalls. I've been very happy (most of the time) with the sound they gave me with my old kenwood kr9600 and Audio Control C-101 EQ for the past 20+ years. Now, spending the past couple months reading all of your various posts my curiousity finally got the better of me and after about a month of searching I purchased a Scott 299B (with some advise from Craig of course). I paid more than I initially intended but I found one with a nice original case (WAF) and telefunkens which hopefully are in good shape. It's on its way to Craig now and in a few weeks or so I hope to find out why I did this. Wish me luck that it's as nice as the seller said it is.
  7. Welcome to the over 39 club. My 43rd was on April fools day. No kidding.
  8. I also have a couple of manuals at home. They gave me 2 of everything with my speakers back in 1980. Don't know if 1980 version is different from 1968 but if you still need a copy in a couple of days let me know.
  9. m00n - I agree with the freedom and no worries, but I would have stopped there I think. The biggest misconception is that it changes you. Not even in the slighest. The worst part for me was the first shot didn't numb me all the way. OUCH.
  10. I have a DJ-like technics SL-1800 - direct drive bought in 1977 (I was young and naive). The salesman demonstrated by pounding on the TT with his fist while an album was playing (didn't skip or budge). I'm considering replacing also. It's adequate but not great.
  11. m00n done had the gooders snipped. This could start a whole new thread! Klipsch owners with snipped gooders. Mine have been sniped for years and my hearing is still fine. LOL
  12. "Lord of the Thighs" and "Seasons of Wither" on Get Yor Wings and "Nobodys Fault" on Rocks! You're right. Rocks is the heaviest they ever did. Once the Love in an Elevator era came, I was out.
  13. Kev - My 20 yr old son is in the same boat. Told him he could see his first dead show when he was 13. That was the year Jerry died. He comes with us to see Phil & Friends, The Other Ones, etc. and loves it. Too bad you missed the late 70s (Jerry's best years by far). I saw Aerosmith in the 70s and when Steve Tyler's voice was good, they were great shows. My favorite album is Get Your Wings. Can't stand anything they've done since Rocks. I do think there are some real good quality bands out there now (Dave Matthews and others) but they're few and far between. That's why the 50+ year olds are still selling out stadiums.
  14. Welcome to the club. Very glad you're happy with them. What year and finish (sorry if you've already posted this)?
  15. I saw my first Grateful Dead show in 1973 and when I go to Merriweather Post Pavillion on June 6th, more than half the sellout the crowd will be under 30. Unfortunatly, there are not enough good newer bands around like Nirvana, Counting Crows, etc. to sellout more than a bar. Just one old dudes opinion of course.
  16. Skonopa - I remember the ones in your backyard. I was trying to get those too ($500). How far are you willing to drive? There have been a few in our neck of the woods lately. I'll keep an eye out for you if you'd like.
  17. I have a friend with the same problem. I told him i'd ask for help here so I'm hoping someone can give an answer I can understand. Ear - maybe I'm a little slow but could you be a little more specific with your reply? Thanks. His happens every time the sub kicks in or out.
  18. Just saw your post Ed. Thanks for the link. I'll pass it on to my neighbor. Extra credit.
  19. Sort of joking about the "junk" comment. Actually referring to the quantity as opposed to quality. My next door neighbor caught the moth so her grandchildren could bring it to school for science class. I've lived in this area practically my whole life and have never seen one before.
  20. Oh yeah, ELP's Trilogy album has a great variety of songs for testing purposes. Full range piano, ear piercing synthesizer, smooth as silk guitar and nice deep vocals. One of my favorite albums of all time.
  21. Would definitely be worth the gamble at $350 if you can get free shipping (IMO).
  22. Congratulations Sam! The serial # indicates 1983 I think (1980 is U so Y I think is 1983 since they skipped a letter somewhere, maybe X). Once you get the right amp they will sound wonderful. Glad all worked out well. $350 is an outright steal.
