  1. "Please don't forget that this is NOT our country. We stole it by killing and imprisoning the NATIVE Americans. Please don't forget that this BECAME an English speaking country after WE immigrated here and brought the language from overseas, just as other immigrants are doing." finally, a "true" American... funny how this can also be applied to those north of the border...except they still hate the French...
  2. "I am a die hard LOTR fan,and its not even in question... The first was very special, the second one grandiose.I can only imagine a grand finale for the third. Matrix, the first was great, the second ...less great.Lets see what the third brings." you're not my evil twin are you, Ear? ...
  3. Ear, my main file server (built a few years ago) has four Intel Pentium III Xeons 700MHz with 2MB cache each, 16GB of ECC SDRAM and 1 terabyte of RAID storage using 15 Seagate 10KRPM Ultra160 SCSI drives...the server is still running (on BSD OS) today continuously on a 24/7 basis without a single glitch... I highly doubt AMD (running on Billy OS) can last that long... my aging but highly reliable file server will soon be replaced with a new server that has a proprietary built mobo, four Intel Xeon MP 2.80GHz CPUs with 2MB cache each, 64GB of high-performance ECC DDR SDRAM and 3 terabytes of RAID storage using 22 Seagate 15KRPM Ultra320 SCSI drives...
  4. this is one of my serveral file servers I built a while back... with mini-redundant 500W p/s, dual Intel Pentium III 1.13GHz CPUs, 2GB ECC SDRAM, boot: Seagate ST336706LC Cheetah 10KRPM 36GB Ultra160 SCSI drive, RAID array: three Seagate Barracuda ST1181677LCV 7200RPM 182GB Ultra160 SCSI drives in RAID 5 configuration...
  5. "I wonder how hard it would be to post as three or four different people?" didn't know I have quadruple personalities ...
  6. ""The Earz and Highlander, TOGETHER AGAIN"" frightening thought ...
  7. "You know I too have a MAGICAL tweak, place an apple on the toroid of an ATI 2505 and it becomes as powerful as the Krell FPB600 or Celeste Moon W5." cool dude...I wired (using 12 gauge gold-plated wire) four can of supercharged gatorade to my Krell monoblock and the power increased two-fold ...
  8. "This should bring the soundstage more up front, push the musicians 1Km back and remove all colorations from the microphones!" wow! ...do you think this will work on my Ivys, Ear?
  9. or if you're like me, you watch LOTR2 on your PC with the HGS18 sub on 75% volume while composing this post ...
  10. "Since I do not have a left sidewall, I cannot mount the surround speakers (Bipole) on the sidewall" neo, if you don't have sidewall(s), your best bet is to mount the surrounds on the ceiling with the null facing the listening position... "do I need an equalizer?" I wouldn't worry about that... "how far apart should the front speakers be" at least five feet... "how far should the listening position be from the screen" as a rule of thumb, the distance should be 2.5X the screen size...
  11. is there any good 5.1 game out there? I have not been keeping up with PC games lately...
  12. very nice case, CO1...what kind of components does it sport? and that must be a Sony DVD burner in the front there...
  13. these Mark Levinson 434 amps used to be part of my current home theater setup until I replaced them with the Krell monoblocks...
  14. very nice Mac gears you got there neo...gotta love those Mac look...this is my old Mac home theater rig which has been moved to the bedroom... McIntosh MVP851 DVD player (top) McIntosh MX134 preamp (middle) McIntosh MC206 6-channel amps (bottom)
  15. "I would not use a sub like the HGS 18 with my PC,if fact I do not want must below 30Hz with PC subs." my 1091A can't do a solid 30Hz...it starts to roll off at 40Hz... "And I would never use any SVS/Revel/Aerial with a PC,the brute force would shorten the life of my precious 10 and 15000 RPM drives" I have some greens to spare ...
  16. Ear, why are all of your pictures upside down?
  17. " No wonder you're called "The Ear" and not "The Ears." You must have blown out the other one with all those DBs!" yup, he used to be called "TheEARS" ...
  18. "We had a cheetah(yes a cheetah)" Ear, you sure you're not mixed up with your Seagate Cheetah drive?
  19. "You know I too hate posting my whole system and big items, its like saying HERE LOOK WHAT I HAVE ...LOOK.Showing off too much gear can call trouble." great minds do think alike ... (rant) Ear, I don't give a damn what they think...many who criticized me from previous boards are pretty much hipocrites...if they don't believe what I have, then too bad...that's their problem and I can careless... (/rant) I do care about what you have to say, though ...
  20. "Nice Genelec speakers " really now...the 1029A bested 101% pee-cee speakers, most bookshelves, many mini-monitors and even some big (and expensive) monitors...
  21. "3. Velodyne HGS18(back in main HT)" finally I have a true sub (not bass module) worthy of Ear's list, the Velodyne HGS18...I acquired the HGS18 last week and it will be a pee-cee sub for one of my many PC systems ...
  22. "I have NO idea why people hesitate to post a pic or two of their systems!" tony, I have reservation about certain things that I will NOT post pictures online... but then I can say the same thing...I have NO idea why you HESITATE to post a picture of YOUR system...or why haven't I seen a single picture of your system (or anything you claimed to have) posted?
  23. " Highlander I think you are using an Escalade 3WARE RAID card" Ear, you are quite correct...that is the 3Ware Escalade ATA RAID Controller 7450 Series card...the four drives in the RAID array are Seagate 7200 RPM 120GB w/8MB cache ATA drives in RAID 5 configuration...
  24. "And great looking pics." Ear, I took these pictures with my Nikon D100 SLR digital camera at max resolution...this way you can see most of the details...
