  1. This is my second bar48. My first one died, so I bought another because I already had the matching surround speakers. After about 2weeks the surrounds started crackling. Another 2 weeks they stopped working. They powered on and paired just produced no noise. Also it seemed the center channel seemed louder then the rest regardless of setting. Today I have the day off so I decided to update it. Yay the surrounds work and it all sounds well. But now it doesnt work with my TV remote at all, it was originally automatic for both bars. It just straight up worked to control volume. Also only the front facing LEDs work and I have 2 additional ones above the volume level lit up.
  2. I have a complete bar 48 complete with the matching surround sound speakers. Absolutely love this system, sounds fantastic. Last few months the volume LEDs were flickering, then all LEDs stopped working all together. No big deal the system still worked. Welp today the left and center speakers stopped working. The right channel still works as well as the sub and surrounds. So its obviously not a power issue. I am well out of warranty so I figured I shall tackle this repair on my own. Any suggestions or has anyone had a similar issue?
  3. Does the Klipsch WA-2 wireless adapter work with the Klipsch Soundbar Bar 48 Subwoofer?
  4. I searched and did not find anyone with this issue. After a vacation where all of my equipment was unplugged from the wall, I return to have the LEDs on top and front flicker then stop working. I suspect a power supply issue as previously mentioned in posts, but am not savvy enough to replace it. Two year old unit out of warrant that now completely cuts out at random times using HDMI. Pops a bit with optical cable (that might be the TV settings). And I seek the wisdom of @KevinBif you've heard of this one. Also, I'm super curious - with all of the issues with Bar 48, what influenced you to purchase a Cinema 800???? I love (understatement) the brand also, but it seems that the Soundbar division isn't up to usual Klipsch quality standards. [I'm a newbie so the system won't let me message you directly]
  5. I have a Klipsch bar 48 sound bar. Recently i am hearing clicking/popping noise from the center speaker. Anyone have any idea why this is happening?
  6. my ex bought me a bar 48 we split up and I will not reach out to her to ask her for a receipt now the thing had no lights I sold it to the repair shop for $25 because they said there is no repair and they wanted it for parts but now I'm regretting it thinking there might have been a way to have it repaired does anyone have advice for the next time something like that happens and how to find a good repair shop also what is everyone second go to brand I might try B&W for my theater
  7. I have a 2 year old Bar 48 sound bar. The other day it just stopped working, we haven't changed anything with our home setup. It's connected to the TV via optical cable. When we power on the soundbar the status lights will come on initially, then starts flickering and goes out, sound never comes on, it seems the power is still on as we can adjust the volume and when powering off then on again it keeps the same power level, but again no sound comes through The subwoofer light starts flashing blue like it's waiting for a signal from the soundbar but nothing happens. I did try to swap out the optical cable but that didn't fix it, so it seems it's not that and the bar itself has an issue. Anyone experience anything like this before? I've submitted a support ticket (#284599) about a week ago but haven't heard back yet. Also tried calling in the support number but can't seem to get through and get put on hold indefinitely before I have to give up and carry on with my day. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
  8. New to the forums, figured now would be a good opportunity to say hi! I’m a long-time fan of Klipsch products, having started with a set of fantastic-sounding Promedia 2.1’s I bought about 15 years ago. That system has had its quirks, but I’m quite happy about just how repairable they’ve been. I was in the market to improve the sound quality from my entertainment unit, but given the size of my place and the fact I have a toddler running around, having a dedicated home theatre system wasn’t an option. To address this, I picked up a Bar 48 about a year and 8 months ago as I’m familiar with the quality of Klipsch products and knew it would produce quality sound. And produce quality sound it did… until it died. With the sound bar being 8 months out of warranty, I figured I could get it repaired. Turns out that’s not the case. Per the Klipsch support centre here in Canada, these sound bars aren’t deemed repairable. No parts available, no service manual, no schematics. Nothing. Basically, if it stops working there is literally nothing that the repair centre can do to fix it, and they advise you just buy a new one. Furthermore, the service centre told me that there’s a copious amount of glue used to hold everything together, so even if you feel inspired to take it upon your self to attempt a DIY repair, nothing will be accessible and you will cause more damage trying to fix it. Instead what I was offered was a possible trade-in credit on a new unit. I was told that I could send it in at my expense, and they would offer me a Cinema 600 for $699. To put that into perspective, retail pricing for the Cinema 600 when it goes on sale is $699, so they were offering me literally nothing for the sound bar I paid $700 for less than two years prior. Basically, I was told to pound sand. Again, I can’t stress enough that I’ve been a fan of Klipsch products, but the fact that the company made a failure-prone product unrepairable and is unwilling to try and help me out struck a chord with me. I’ve seen from multiple sources that Bar 48s not powering on is an extremely common failure mode, so hopefully this thread can help some people out by adding a ray of hope to their expensive sound bar that Klipsch says can't be fixed. So for starters, the Bar 48 is totally repairable. By removing the screws around the periphery of the back panel, the main PCB, power supply, and associated wires all slide out as a unit: The Canadian service centre mentioned that everything is glued together, and that simply is not the case. Yes, there is some hot glue on the connectors to prevent the connectors from separating if the unit is moved around or bumped, but this is a common sight with consumer electronics and can be easily removed by some careful prying away with a screwdriver. Through my testing, I found that the power supply on my unit had failed. The unit is an LPS-U101D2405L dual switching power supply, made by ETOP electronics in China. The PSU takes a 120VAC source and converts it to two separate 24VDC and 5VDC rails. The 24V rail appears to power the amplifier and speakers, while the 5V rail appears to power all the other electronics, including the control panel, LEDs on the front of the sound bar, and Bluetooth functionality. I found that when unloaded, the rails output 24V and 5V as they should, but once the Bar 48 PCB is connected to the 5V rail, output from the 5V rail drops to 2.7V. This is likely not enough voltage to power the main PCB, thus causing the no-power issue that many have experienced. I have reached out directly to ETOP (as an FYI this is not an easy thing to do!), and have confirmation that the power supply has failed. Per the spec sheet they sent me, operating voltage on the 5V rail should be 5V +/- 0.5V, so the 2.7V reading is well outside of spec, which was further confirmed by their engineering department. I’ve made arrangements to have a replacement power supply sent my way (with which to compare with my failed unit), so in the meantime I was going to try and diagnose exactly which component in the power supply failed. The goal here is to provide the Klipsch community with a low-cost option to fix your dead Bar 48s. As a disclaimer, I am not an electronics savant, but I am pretty handy with electronics and am extremely determined to fix this sound bar due to this awful customer service experience. Additionally, I was going to use this as an opportunity to learn more about power supply and voltage regulator design. So as mentioned earlier, when a load is applied to the 5V rail, output drops to 2.7V. I believe this might be related to a failed component in the 5V rail voltage regulator, which appears to have a couple of components that would be relatively easy to swap out. The first is an A12N65H MOSFET attached to a heatsink on the board. The MOSFET tested fine, but doesn’t appear to provide full continuity between the drain and source pins after the gate has been activated. Again, I’m not an electronics expert, so perhaps this is normal but I ordered a replacement MOSFET to install just in case. The second component I was going to look at was the LD7552BPS pulse-width modulation controller. I believe these are used for controlling voltage, with operating frequency set by a resistor connected to Pin #4. Maybe a resistor failed? I’m not sure! Having a second, replacement power supply handy will help me validate some of these things! The simple solution here would be to have offer a power supply replacement for these units that failed, but since those aren't available it looks like a DIY approach is the only option. Either way, stay tuned with my progress on this, as I will get my Bar 48 working again, despite Klipsch telling me there’s nothing that can be done.
  9. I have a Bar 48 with a bluetooth woofer. Last night all worked normally. Today sound bar will not power up. No LEDs show. Soundbar seems dead. Woofer seem to be working but cannot connect to bar. Other devices connected to surge protector are working normally. Anybody got ideas except soundbar unit is dead? Thanks in advance!
  10. I’ve got cracking in my wireless Surround 3 speakers connected to my Bar 48. It’s intermittently R or L or both at once & seems to come when I’m switching a channel or source. Switching surround mode off eliminates it until I turn surround mode back on, however unplugging the surround speaker seems to reset it resulting in no crackling. At first I thought it was cable related, but occurs with both comcast and ATV, then I thought it was related to using the dialogue mode, but that wasn’t it either. Looks like other folks have the same problem on the forum but I don’t see any answers there. I’m wondering if the issue is WiFi related and unplugging the surround speaker resets it’s little WiFi chip or settings? I don’t have to re-pair the unit to the Bar 48 after repowering the unit which makes me thing it’s not resetting to a default mode…any suggestions on preventing this intermittent crackling?
  11. Hey everyone. First time posting here. I have a Bar 48 Soundbar and a Toshiba Fire TV and I'm having a problem connecting the audio with the provided HDMI cable. It's not working. The sound is great and works fine with the optical cable but nothing with the HDMI. Am I missing something? I've searched all over for answers on this. Is there some trick I'm missing? Any help would be great. Thanks.
  12. Hoping to get some feedback / recommendations for the best Klipsch soundbar to go with between the Cinema 600 vs the Bar 48? Anyone tried these that can give some thoughts and impressions between the two? They both cost $499 each. I'm not really sold on "wireless" vs hardwired. And front firing would be better for the sub. But, unfortunately, the soundbars all come with down firing subs. Plus, I live in an upstairs apartment with a woman in her 60's below me. Her living room is right below mine. So, I'm not sure if a soundbar is gonna be the best option for my living situation or maybe another set-up such as either satellites or bookshelf speakers with a front firing sub. What do you guys think?
  13. My sound bar will not turn on. I updated the firmware back in July to this version: Bar48_2.4_V30.zip dated May 5 2020 and it was working after that. It was ok yesterday but when I went to turn it on this morning it would not come on - no lights no sound. I tried the factory reset repeatedly - power + source for at least 10 seconds. Unplugged for 1/2 an hour and tried again still nothing. After unplugging and retrying, the sub-woofer started to pop randomly. I've tried it in different outlets that I know are working and tried using the power cord from the sub-woofer. No change. Thoughts...
  14. I have ordered the sound bar twice, both times it has came broke in half in the same spot. For whatever reason in the packaging instead of using styrofoam in the middle of the box to support the sound bar there is nothing. Just free space... So I'm wondering if they have changed this with the cinema 600? I really want to have this on my tvs in my new house. But not if they are gonna all be broken. So does anyone know if the new 600s are packed in styrofoam front to back?
  15. Hi all, Has anyone encountered any problem connecting their Bar 48 with a Sony Bravia XBR tv VIA hdmi? HDMI port 3 for Sony is the ARC port but get no play back. Have tried changing the inputs to the bar with no luck. Playback VIA Bluetooth works so speaker is operational. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Take care, Jag
  16. I just received a new Bar 48 and I need to use the optical connection, not having an HDMI ARC port on my tv. I cannot get any sound out of the bar through this connection. I paired it to my iPhone and I can play music just fine. I have attempted a firmware update but it will not work the way the instructions indicate. Any help would be appreciated. I have opened a ticket with support, FYI. Have not heard anything back yet. Very disappointed in the response from customer service. I use the optical connection out of my Panasonic plasma to my surround system and it works fine. I have also tried the HDMI out of my Directv receiver and got nothing there as well. Bad ports maybe?

  18. Has anyone had an experience fixing a power supply from the BAR 48 subwoofer? It clicks every 5 sec, output is jumping simultaneously from around 0 to around 3v. VDD is also jumping up to 14v and dropping back down. It looks like it tries to start but something is triggering protection on OB5269. I've changed OB5269 - no effect. Diodes look good, pulled out FET and checked - looks good as well. Capacitors look good. Nothing is visibly burned. I couldn't find any info on that power supply, even the output voltage.
  19. So I'm watching TV suddenly my bar powers off on its own, tried to power it up from the remote that was unsuccessful, tried from the console on the bar unsuccessfully, unplugged it from the main and plugged it in another outlet and still won't power up, any ideas?
  20. so I tried to update the Bar 48 I think it's half way there cause now when I plug it up I only get these lights now so what am I doing wrong? UPDATE - so when I downloaded the first firmware it's different then I went back & checked it again now it's a different firmware so I'm about to try this & see what happens
  21. I just recently got the Bar 48. I have the HDMI (Arc) from my TV going into the soundbar. Numerous times the audio would just go out, and I'd have to fiddle around with the inputs on the remote to get the sound back. I'm not sure why this is happening. When I switched to the optical cable, everything seems fine, but then I lose the benefits of the HDMI Arc. Has anyone encountered this issue?
  22. I have a new bar 48 and when i change channles on my tv it sometimes just plays static. Also does it when going from sreen share to tv 20200411_145957_3.mp4
  23. Hello wondering if anyone could help me with setting up the bar 48. I previously had a r10b that had no issues with the optical connection and would sync right up with the TV remote. This one won't sync with the Samsung TV remote and keeps asking for a model number. It's a brand new Samsung smart TV. So any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jes
  24. Hi - I have just purchased a Klipsch Bar 48. I have enjoyed a lot of Klipsch products throughout the last 15 years and still enjoying most of them, so when I was looking for a soundbar for our living room (wife wanted something clean and simple as opposed to our 7.2 Klipsch system in the basement (: ), Klipsch was the first place I looked. I saw pretty mixed reviews, but mostly based on some folks experiencing connection issues with the early production models. I summed up that Klipsch had corrected the issues with the newer models, and I decided to take the plunge. We've had it now for about a week, and I have to say, I am pretty underwhelmed. It does get loud, but just seems to be really lacking bass and a good punch. Does anyone else feel this way? Now, for my connection, I am using with an Apple TV connected to a 70 inch Samsung 4K LED via HDMI. A Bluray player connected via HDMI. And a Nintendo Switch connected via HDMI. I am using the optical output on the TV to connect to the soundbar. I have not tried using a direct HDMI connection from the TV, but I suppose that could affect audio quality. However, I experience the same underwhelming subwoofer performance when connected directly via bluetooth. I have the subwoofer dialed up maybe just over half way, since cranking all the way seems to get boomy, but doesn't sound good. I should also say, I have not installed the newest firmware - but I just bought it about a week ago, so figured it theoretically have the most recent firmware? Anyway, just thought I would post and get other's thoughts. And yes, I do know the Bar 48 has a sub out, so I suppose I could get another and hardwire. But I do like the wireless functionality in our living room for a cleaner appearance.
  25. I have the bar 48 with Surround 3 Speakers. One of my rear speakers (I have it set to the right channel) makes a scratching noise that lasts about 1 second, but only it only happens every few hours. It happens suddenly and complete out of the blue. Has anyone else ever experienced a similar issue? I haven't tried any trouble shooting yet like swapping channels with the left speaker and seeing if the speak does the same thing on the other channel, or re-syncing the bluetooth. It'll be hard to trouble shoot so it's very unpredictable. Is it possible I have 1 defective speaker?
