LarryC
The last nail in the coffin: the last Kodak-certified Kodachrome processor in the U.S., Dwayne's Photo in Parsons, KS, has announced that the last day it will process Kodachrome slides is December 30, 2010. http://www.dwaynesphoto.com/
Mallette
When I was a kid in school learning photography I can remember using both the Kodachrome and Ektachrome although now I can't remember the differences really. Must have been a VERY poor class. One doesn't need anything except eyes to see the difference in a Kodachrome transparency and Ektachrome. My Kodachromes have held up superbly, whilst the Ektachromes have faded with time. Everything looked better with Kodachrome, especially red. "To everthing there is a season..." Gilbert
No fear, you can always go Fuji. I love Fuji Velvia for slides. It comes in several speeds and the quality is beyond question. Go for ISO 50, the color reproduction is superb.

All is not lost! That said, I'll forever miss being able to turn to K-chrome reds, yellows, and blue skies.
