johnhart
I need some suggestions regarding some decent audio cables that won't brake the bank. I have an Onkyo 806 driving RF7s, an RC7, RB75s and RS 62s. Thanks in advance, John

Moderators Youthman Posted June 17, 2009 Moderators Share Posted June 17, 2009 www.monoprice.com is the only place you should go. That's where I bought mine. Get some 12ga o 14 ga wire. They sell banana plugs too. Can't go wrong there.

MistaChy
is the monster speakerwire not that good compared to what monoprice has?
wuzzzer
Monster Cable isn't bad cable, its just generally thought of as being way overpriced. I have a combination of Monster Cable and cable from monoprice in my system. A lot of the Monster Cable is stuff I bought years ago when I thought it was the cat's pajams and a lot of it is stuff I got for free with other electronic and speaker purchases. I wouldn't ever turn down Monster Cable if it was free. []
MistaChy
Is 100 ft of monster speaker wire for 27 bucks a decent price or did I get ripped off
wuzzzer
It depends on the wire gauge. Looking at monoprice they have a 100ft roll that's 12AWG CL2 in-wall rated for $28.35. I'd say that you got a good price.
MistaChy
i think its 16 gauge, is that bad? i didnt notice it was 16 gauge, maybe i should have gotten this instead... http://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Thx%C2%BF-600-Speaker-Cable/dp/B000FON3IM 14 gauge thx
wuzzzer
Decent deal. Also will depend on how long your wire runs are: Speaker Impedance 8 Ohm Load 4 Ohm Load Wire Gauge Distance (ft) Distance (ft) 18 AWG 10 5 16 AWG 20 10 14 AWG 35 18 12 AWG 60 30 10 AWG 100

Should be fine. You have enough wire that you could bi-wire and see if you hear a difference if you're curious.
