BuyOtherSoundEquipment
hey guys, I'm posting this for a friend who just got picked up some new speakers and I'm not exactly sure how to help him: "Ihave acquired some bang and olufsen beovox s75 speakers, and these are4 ohm, I was wondering if there were any new receivers on the marketthat are even rated for 4 ohms and would work, the speakers are 75watts continuous and 100 peak. The receiver/stereo at my cabin is notfully functioning and the left channel cuts out alot. I'm going to getsome deoxit and clean out the inside to try and keep it going. So arethere any decent new receivers out there, or I've been told to get anold one from the 70's like a pioneer, marantz or sansui" Suggestions? Islander
I think most modern receivers will drive a 4 ohm load without difficulty, especially if you don't try for max volume.
wuzzzer
My Onkyo TX-SR805 had an option in the setup menu for either 4 or 6 ohm speakers. Not sure if all Onkyos have that or if its just the higher end ones.
Moderators dtel Posted August 3, 2009 Moderators Share Posted August 3, 2009 I have a Yamaha RX-V730 and it has a 4 or 8 ohm switch on the back and it's far from the top of the line so i would think it's common ?
laager
My NAD T785 drives anything from 8 to 2 ohm and there's no settings in the receiver so I assume it's autodetected. Power output (stereo, 8 ohms within rated distortion 2 x 150W (21.8dbW) IHF dynamic power 8 ohms 2 x 250W (23.9dBW) 4 ohms 2 x 350W (25.4dBW) 2 ohms 2 x 450W (26.5dBW) Simultaneous power output surround mode 7 x 120W (20.8dBW) - [7 x 190W (22.8dbW)Minimum Continuous Power (FTC)]
Jay481985
My denon 3805 has trouble powering the RF-83 down low and bass was missing so I brought a crown xti amp The Harman Kardon I had before drove the 83 just fine (supposed dip to 2.8 ohms at 40 hertz)
