NOZ
I know my way around hook ups and electronics pretty well. I'm having trouble with my H/K receiver picking up the DTS signal from my Blu ray player. It won't let me choose DTS as a surround mode. I'm using a DTS blu ray/DVD movie. Is it that the H/K does not recognise the newer technology Blu ray signal???? Thanks for any input.
odysseyrevolver
They're compatible. DTS-HD contains the old-fashioned DTS core which your receiver can decode.
Frzninvt
Did you choose it from the DVD menu? It will not default to DTS the default is DD you need to go to setup in the menu and choose it if you did not.
NOZ
Frzninvt, Did that, still won't work. I'm going to mess around with it tonight see if I can't get it to go. Thanks
NOZ
Still no luck. It takes signal from an older DVD player but not Blu-ray. Anyone else know of something? Thanks Sean
Frzninvt
Use the 7.1 external analog inputs if the H/K AVR7000 has them and let the BluRay player handle the decoding of the DTS format. My NAD decodes the Blu-Ray DTS feed as DTS-ES and works fine via the optical cable, I also have it connected via the analog 7.1 inputs as a back up. cyclonecj
I ran in the the same problem with my Sony/Onkyo combo. Finally found out that the video output had somehow reset itself to a lower resolution, & the system cant send hi-res audio with that lower res video signal. wuzzzer
On your Blu-Ray player try changing the audio output from Linear PCM to Bitstream or vice-versa and see if that helps.
Vital
It has to be a setting or something. Even my older HK 325 is reading Blu-ray's DTS. As a matter of fact I just watched The Ugly Truth and The Time Traveler's Wife on Blu-ray which were both in DTS-HD. I went to the menu and chose the DTS-HD even though my HK can't decode it and it played it in the basic DTS.

NOZ
Wuzzzer hit the nail right on the head. Change to bitstream. Thanks everyone. Sean
