djk Posted February 25, 2010 Share Posted February 25, 2010 Check them for continuity first, they should measure about 10 ohms or so. Look for pin-holes in the area of the diamonds (indicates they have been overdriven). Do not touch any part of the aluminum! Look down the throat. Is it clean? Are there any cracks? If they have continuity, try playing at low volume through a 20µF (or smaller) capacitor. If they don't have continuity they will need to be examined by an experienced JBL tech. It may be possible to repair the diaphragms, otherwise the MSRP is $544 a pair. Once the technician has removed the diaphragm he will use his gap gauges to see if the gap needs to be aligned.
