picky
The voice of summer, Hall-of-Famer, baseball announcer for the Detroit Tigers, Ernie Harwell (1918-2010) died today after nearly a year's fight with cancer at the age of 92.. God bless him and Lulu, his wife (widow) of 68 years. I shall miss him dearly. He had..."that voice"! -Glenn "Left him standing there like a house by the side of the road!" - A famous "Ernieism" for calling a batter left looking at the 3rd strike. CECAA850
I'm guessing he was born in 1918. I'm just being picky[]
DizRotus
Glenn, Even though we were warned, it's still a sad day for the area. Ernie was a treasure! The Wings and Tigers felt the funk too.

oldtimer
It's always sad when a great voice of sports is lost to us after so many years of listening and loving the call.
CECAA850
Living in the south, I haven't heard many of his broadcasts, but Mike and Mike had a nice tribute for him this morning on ESPN radio. Seems like he was a real treasure.
