Poorhouse
I'm in the market for speakers and found these semi-locally. No SS numbers or labels on the backs. Seller doesn't know what they are. They look like Cornwalls but the woofers look off to me. Dimensions are listed as 37.5 X 25 X 15.5. Are these Cornwall? Any idea of age range? Woofers look right? Anything else I should check out? tom b. 57
Those are definately Cornwalls. Make sure all the drivers work. From the pic. the woofers look right to me. Don't know the vintage. Get them for a good price, take them home and enjoy them. Merry Christmas! Tom
tom b. 57
Excuse me. I forgot my manners. Welcome to the forum. It's a great place to be. Tom
Ironsave
Yep. Those be Corns! After you take them home, clean them and oil them. Walnut looks beautiful when maintained correctly. Enjoy!
Poorhouse
Thanks for the info and welcome. The seller thought the woofers were 12", they started looking funny to me after that. Hoping to look at them tomorrow.
Ironsave
As mentioned; make sure drivers work. Serials should be engraved on the back. (You could bring a laptop with you to research them; I believe there is a master chart compiled by a forum member).... Should be 15" woofers; not 12". This suggests the seller does not know what he/she has, and may offer more room to haggle.

Poorhouse
Brought them home today. Seller had got them from his boss 3 years ago and never used them, didn't know what they were outside of "klipsch" and that they were big. I was really surprised after seeing those couple photos how clean they are. Walnut is in very nice shape, not all dried out, very minimal scratches or knicks, grills are really clean. SN# 29W509 & 29W510 Looks like they were built early 1981 based on the info from Bob Crites site. Now to make room and get them hooked up. I'm sure you will enjoy them. Price vs performance, I don't think you can do much better. Tom
Poorhouse
Have really been enjoying these. Here's a pic next to the HPM 100 they are replacing. Wondering if I'm missing something here:

Poorhouse
No nuts or caps on the uppers? Makes me wonder if I have them hooked up properly. I have speaker wire connected to the lower screws, basically the screws are tightened down onto the wire. There is some red coloring to indicate positive. You can just see the red on the upper right washer.
jhoak
You did it right. The red coloring indicates the + connection. What you're looking at on the top of the barrier strips is the screws coming through from the inside of the cabinets. The wires that run to the crossovers are connected to those screws.
