Max2
All of the older Belles I have seen had the smaller cast aluminum mid horn. I assumed they updated the modern versions to the larger size like the LaScalla and the K horn. I know the Lascalla and the K horn went to the composite style horn. My question is why was the Belle fitted with a smaller sized squaker all along?
DizRotus
The depth of the cabinet is too shallow to permit the same squawker horn used in Khorn and La Scala.
Max2
Well that was obvious enough! Thanks Diz

Paul Klipsch himself told me in 1985 that the after he designed the K-500 for the Belle and measured it, he thought the K-400 was a lot longer than it needed to be to cover the intended frequency range. I have also heard that. I have both LS's and Belle's and to my ears, the Belles seem "smoother" in that upper bass - low midrange. Not by much, but it's noticeable at low volumes. The belle does not need this since it is 30" wide, it uses a T-Pee instead of a dog hose. No straight section needed. resulting in a natural sounding horn expansion.
