timyoung
We have a very large patio 15'x50' and are thinking about adding outdoor speakers. I'm looking for a Klipsch model people on the forum would reccomend? Considering the size of the area, how many speakers will I need? Thanks, Tim
Groomlakearea51
One of my next projects on the "honey-do" list is to put some outdoor speakers in the pool enclosure (40' x 30'). Given mulch, shrubs and palms I planted, I will probably use two of the Klipsch "rocks" (the 650's) at the far (deep) end. I thought about hanging a couple of AW400's under the eaves on the back porch, but because of hurrycanes.... decided that they could be struck by flying debris, etc. I'd rather quick disconnect the rocks and bring them inside. I would say that two would probably be what you need. Just a thought. [H]
Klipsch Employees Trey Cannon Posted May 24, 2011 Klipsch Employees Share Posted May 24, 2011 If you tie them down I bet the ROCK could take a hurrycane. We have pics of the AW-650 that made it through Katrina in LA. I would suggest more speakers for better coverage this will keep volume down due the coverage.
BigCliff
Last summer I had KHO-7s. I just replaced them this past weekend with AW 650s and I am pleasantly surprised at how well the 650s sound. I have not heard the rock speakers so maybe a combo of 2 650s and 2 rock speakers might work for you. I believe the 650s would fill your whole area with sound, but as previously stated you would have to keep the volume up.

timyoung
I'll take a look at the AW-650's. Thanks
timyoung
Sounds like for now the 650's are the right choice. As we work thriough the year, we can add the rock speakers if needed. Thanks, Tim
