Islander
In spite of living in BC, I have to admit that Boston played better than Vancouver in this series. Tim Thomas was outstanding, while facing more shots on goal than either Vancouver goalie. As for the rioters and looters, those weren't hockey fans. The instigators were likely the same ones who show up at G8 conferences and anti-globalization protests, anarchists who just want to do damage any way they can. The bars and liquor stores were closed at 4 pm before the previous home game and that had a good effect on the crowds. The same rule was in effect for this game, but a number of people showed up at bars at 11 am this time, resulting in a mob that had been drinking for many hours in spite of the early bar closures. Perhaps the police underestimated the determination of some people to be hooligans. Today, so many volunteers have shown up to help with the cleanup that some are being turned away. Citizens have gone downtown with brooms, shovels and garbage bags to do what they can to help show what the city is really about.

picky
Congratulations to Boston. Shame on those who rioted after the game in Vancouver! Get some respect and humility and man-up! -Glenn
Islander
Some of the rioters have turned themselves in. As well, one citizen has taken on the task of identifying rioters and then contacting their employers about it. Hopefully, the small group of people who came to the celebration prepared to turn it into a riot will be identified and arrested.
picky
Islander: Thanks for letting us know. Vancouver is a great city and it doesn't deserve this "black eye". I'm willing to bet that most of the rioters aren't even hocky fans! -Glenn
